Cheers mate, really useful video. Just bought a Squire contemporary Starcaster that I’m gonna try these exact pickups in 👍 Great guitar playing by the way.
Thank you, man. I'm glad it was useful. Whilst I sing the praise of Vanson p90's I'm not affiliated. They are just really good. And so cheap. I'm not sure if I mentioned it in this video. I used a les paul 2 wiring harness. That is not necessary. Let me know how it pans out. RT ✌️
I did a more in-depth discussion on the wiring. Also, there are a few on the Grote Jazz guitars and Gretsch with Vanson p90's. Check them out if you're still on the fence. RT ✌️
Hi RT, How are you keeping ?....If possible a quick review of the "Gull", and what you are playing at present, would be great to hear? ....Take care , and hope to hear from you soon! ....🎸✌🍷
Thanks, man. I will be doing another review of the Vox now I'm back home. That will be up this week. I've just finished another twin pickup, Grote, so I'll be discussing that. Then, I have a pickup series planned. This is followed by an in-depth on my Guild X-175 coming up. As for the Gull. In the fullness of time 😅 I aim to get one a week done. All is well 🙏 RT ✌️ 😎💫
Hi RT , Just been rewatching some of your earlier videos! .. ..About a year back at the end of one , you mentioned you would be reviewing the "Gull" , that was a white hollow body with p90s , on a stand in the background!.... Was it a custom guitar that you had made in China by Aliexpress?🤔👍✌
Thank you. Yes, all is well. I'll be posting one video weekly as from next week as I'm back home. I trust all is well with you man. Again, thanks for the message RT 🙏 👍 ✌️
Hello dear, I would like to know if you could tell me if the size of the spring of the Bigsby B60 that comes with the Gretsch (Korea) G5420T guitar is 7/8" or 11/16". I wonder if perhaps the previous owner of the guitar has changed the size of the spring of the Bigsby, because I see it very low almost parallel to the pickguard and does not allow pumping movement or is it like that? Greetings and thank you very much. Sorry for my English
Hi welcome back 🎉 l say I have one of those l have the union jack l have it in my ensuite it's a nice little small area and I think the area that I have it in suits it quite well I love the beard my friend Thumbs up from Geelong Australia 🦘🇭🇲👍
@123elvislives Thank you, man. What are your thoughts on the early breakup on yours? For me, the willingness to overdrive is its only flaw. Of course, some will love this. I trust you are well RT 😎👍✌️
Welcome back. The beard threw me at first. What is the white Gretsch hanging on the wall behind you? I am happy with my 140 too, not a bit of noise from it unlike my 5220 Jet which is always buzzing and annoying.
Ha yeah I've gone feral, I'll get round to discussing the Guitars on the wall in time. I love the G5420's so much I'm selling my high end guitars. Good to hear from you RT ✌️
Nice to see you demoing again, RT! .. .. Glad you are well. ..Looking forward to hearing your Dano with Gretsch pups , when you do one of your small amp reviews! .... 👍✌👏
Good to see you back RT, and as you know I am a subsriber and have asked you a few Gretsch questions in the past which you have always responded to, I hope you are well, and keep up the good work, John.
@johncarlo7395 It's a pleasure brother, how's life? I'm good, just going through the ringer where I live, hence four months living in the campervan. Good to hear from you RT 👍✌️😎
Hi RT, I recently bought, second hand a Casino Gold, Gretsch G5220 Electromatic with V tailpiece, unfortunately one of the Pickup height screws is missing so the Pickup is a bit wobbly, I've got an old Epiphone Humbucker with screws but unfortunately they are slightly to thick, I cant seem to find what I'm looking for on Ebay, except for StewMac the screw is £0.36, the delivery is £15.33, have you any idea's? John.
A friend acquired one of these amps when 1st debuted. Aside from the blue pilot light blinding me when reaching for the controls, it's a great amp and looks cool as well😎👍👍 Nice beard man😉👍 😎✌👍❤🖖
Yeah I've become a vantramp😅 You're right about the blue light it's way too bright. Great little amp unbelievable that they don't sell the cab separately. Hope all is well man ? RT ✌️💫🖤
Apologies for the delay, only just seen this. The guitar is in the bridge position every thing up full. I'm using a deluxe reverb tone master. Volume on 2.5 Treble on 4.5 Bass on 6, reverb on 4, Tremolo speed 6 intensity on 6. Thank you for the input RT 👍😎✌️
I put a vanson tunamatic roller bridge on my Electromatic and 6120TM really good. I also have a 6120DC with Bar bridge and a 6120AM with space control.
Nice George Harrison type of colour. I have a blue 5420T I swapped the Bigsby for a B6C US one and a Vanson Tunamatic roller saddle bridge, improved it no end. Wilkinson machines to go on next to replace those cheapo Waverley style ones.
Yeah it's a lovely colour, I've put a V cut bigsby on my G510T, I always go for the Nickel plated brass bar bridges on mine love the tone. I'm going to live with the tuners as they seem fine on mine. Is yours the CIC model? Enjoy your guitar and thanks for the input RT 😎✌️👍
Very nice. I took the pick guards off my 5420-140 and Jet and put the screws that held the guard on in the holes. To me the guitars looks sexier. Ever thought of removing your guards?
Hi Weasel, yeah always do, the Tri-Five in the background is for sale, so the pick-gaurd is back on. I recently put the guard back on the 140 because I love the colour combo. I agree they look best without. RT 😎✌️
@@rapidotlussoguitar It seems Gretsch mainly uses, from what I have seen, the silver coloured guards, I see you can buy aftermarket guards for them with patterns and such, but no guard just looks right for me.
How do I change the gretsch g5420t volume knobs, bought a Brian Setzer style dice pair but unaware on how to remove them. I be heard towels and spoons but this g knob has a hole possible Allen key?
I ordered a g5222. Returning to guitar after a long while. Seems Gretsch guitars have gained a lot of popularity. A lot of musical history behind the brand. Cool guitars.
Welcome back to guitar, I think you'll be very happy with the Gretsch. I believe it's a new golden era for Gretsch and very well deserved. Build quality is outstanding. Let me know how you get on with your new guitar RT 😎👍✌️
Thanks for the message, go for it I also put a Les Paul harness but that's not necessary. The Vanson p90's are great and cheap. You'll have a unique sounding guitar. Let me know how you get on RT 😎
Yeah all is good thanks Lucas, got out of playing again, but the curse and it's a great curse in many ways, always remains. Thanks for the comment appreciated RT ✌️😎👍
Welcome back RT sounds great looking forward to more demos 👍🍀…..Did you keep the Vox mini superbeetle? BTW eventually fitted the Vansons to my candy red 2420t streamliner and love them too.
Hi Djangle, the Vansons are seriously good I haven't played this much since i fitted them and I'm really digging how it sounds. I'll be discussing the Vox mini this week... great to hear from you take care RT 🤘
Thank you for the positives weasel, if you haven't played for months you may as well record it flaws and all, and share it 😅 first steps I suppose and it's good to be back. Have a great weekend man RT 😎✌️👍
I sense some irony in this comment 🤔 to be honest I'd not heard of him, I just checked out the signature model, the Duffy mini falcon didn't get my sap rising either. Hope all's well over yonder RT ✌️😎👍
@@rapidotlussoguitar Knew you'd get the rub... It says Gretsch in the headstock... But it don't ROCK like a Gretsch. Looks good though. Great to see you've posted... Missed your face😎👍👍 😎✌👍❤🖖
@@richardlynch5632 It's cool it's electromatic though, not a fan of the gold hardware if I'm honest. I think the Duffy Falcon is my fave looking Gretsch not crossed paths with one yet. Any new guitars in your world? I'm letting go of a few and hoping Fender and Gretsch put out a CIC Tennessean with Hi-Lo's. Just a dream 😅 have a great weekend man. 😎✌️👍
@@rapidotlussoguitar Added one guitar to the stable... Many that know me didn't think that I'd be getting something like this...but I do love P90s😉👍 It's the Revstar v2 RSS02T. It has become my #1 non-vibrato system guitar...!!!😎👍👍 My new blues machine😉👍👍 Same here hoping your world will do😉👍👍 😎✌👍❤🖖
Thanks man, all is well, I've been having issues with where I live, I'll be doing much more content now I've resolved things here. Got a backlog of reviews etc. Thanks for checking in and I trust all is well with you RT 😎 ✌️👍
Thanks man, yeah I haven't played it since I did an initial review a while back. I'm very pleased with how it sounds with the p90's, the TV'S didn't work for me. Have a great weekend RT ✌️😎👍
Hi Peter, thanks for the messages and support. I'm all good thanks and put up a ramshackle vid yesterday. I'll be doing more reviews this week so stay tuned Hope you're well RT ✌️😎👍
Thanks for the review. Looking to buy my first Gretsch and I think you just helped make up my mind. Just bought Stray Cats tickets for August so I’m going to have to go with the orange one.
@@rapidotlussoguitar it's a little more that what Gretsch specs on his website. Also comparing to a pro line Gretsch, Japan, I found that the neck is wider and fatter, don't ya?
@@TropicalFuzz I've not really checked the specs on the Gretsch site. Compared to my black phoenix yes it's chunkier, but I really like the feel on these I guess I like chunky Gal's 😅
@@rapidotlussoguitar hahaha great! I have a jet that's like a Phoenix neck. But the 5420 it's.not just chunkier and fatter, is has a wider fretboard yes? It can be good for chord work
I have just bought a 2005 Gretch 6120 Brian Setzer. Can I get a True arc bridge in aluminium for that? Where did you buy yours? I cant seem to find any websites that carries them.
Hey man, I got mine from a company in the UK called f hole's,www.f-holes.co.uk/tru-arc/ Yes it will work perfectly on your guitar, you need to know the neck radius which I would assume is 9.5 but double check that. Thanks for the message and let me know how you get on. RT 😎👍🤟
Awesome video! I just bought this exact guitar the other day. Previous owner had coated 10s strings and im not really feeling it. Is there a brand and string gauge you recommend?
Thank you Luis, I'm currently using 11 to 52 d'addario string's. On this vid it has the stock string's that are 11 to 49. Personally I'd go to 52. Enjoy your guitar RT 😎🤟👍
I was a bit older. I played from the age of 6, but I didn't get Gretsches until I was about 16, and saw the Stray Cats. Everything changed that day, I've been a fiend since. Nice review, great playing, thanks man!
I think Mr Seltzer changed the game for so many. For me I had a poster of the stone's with Brian Jones playing his Anniversary, it became a curse. Thanks for the positives and keep rocking my friend RT 👍😎✨
Happy new year Mr Falcon, and thank you for asking, I'm doing okay, had some health issues but still rocking. I will be doing some more content this week at some point. Hope life is treating you well over yonder? Keep rocking my friend RT 👍✨🏆
Do you happen to have the wiring diagram for this? I'm so inspired I bought myself some Phat Cats and wanted to put them into my Affinity Starcaster too!
Hi Shaun, I'm afraid I don't, what I can tell you is I bought a wiring harness for a Les Paul 11 (2) which in hindsight wasn't really necessary! The pickup surrounds I got from Amazon chrome humbucker surrounds for about £12 for the pair. It should be fairly straightforward to swap them over, I'd be happy to open it up and do another video but I sold it a couple of weeks ago. Oh man I just looked at the price on those Phat Cat's 😮 the Vanson's £34 for the pair, so good I've put them on three other guitar's. Good luck with it P90s sound great, the Les Trem is also a worthy upgrade RT 😎👍
Hi Ross, yeah I had the orange one but sent it back when I saw the 140 Anni. Great guitars and the prices are creeping up as we speak, how are you liking the pickups RT 🤟😎
They are fine with me. But I know the TV Jones are brighter, which I would love. May get those installed one day. Bought mine in June, and have just loved the Rockabilly stuff. I was just 5 yeas old or so when all of that was popular in the 50s, but Brian Setzer has really made it great to bring back again. Never had so much fun performing with it. @@rapidotlussoguitar
Not if it's binding in the nut! I use rocking bar bridges on all my Gretsche's haven't put on in this as it is snagging in the nut as it's cut to tight 👍
