The first thing I did when I got my GT SE after an experience with the GT model when trying to remove the battery.... put vaseline or chapstick (i used chapstick) in between every gap because there may be a hidden screw hidden which you don't want rusting on you. doing that may also increase the water resistance rating or even make it completely waterproof.
yea that crossed my mind... but it is doing fine, maybe not like 100% peak performance but it is good! it will last me until the new version comes out I think :P
hahaha it was scary! but I was not going too fast so it was ok :D I do recommend it! I dont think there is anything better on the market in terms of overall quality and experience!
I'm thinking between this 3k and non popular brend ms energy vortex (2x1200w battery 52v 18ah dual motor) that cost 1.5k half price. What you think i should pick, i need your option 😊
well, i am going to be pretty biased, but i really dont want a scooter that feels like it was assembled from random parts, the GT2 is a whole package, it is very well put together and makes for a great ownership experience! i would wait for a sale on the GT2, i have seen it cheaper than that! let me know what you decide!
hahaha i dont know that there are any scooters that handle potholes well, i feel like ive chipped a tooth riding my segway GT2 over a very modest pothole 😅
used to take my GT several miles to work and back, between Bedstuy, Brooklyn to Woodside, Queens on a daily basis, so believe when I say the nice thing about this scooter is not only can it handle potholes extremely well, with its front & rear suspension, it's fast and lightweight enough to bunnyhop over all kinds of speed bumps and holes if you so desire.
You really got to get into some better scooters. There's so much more out there. I can see you love them, but you really don't have a lot of experience with the best kinds. Do some research my friend. You will be much happier
@@DrBernieBabylon ok.... First off better distance and speed is inmotion RS..start there. Get PMT tires. You're driving a starter scooter for more advanced riders.
The hardest thing for me to get used to on these scooters is remembering im not a car i dont nessessarily have to stay on the road. I used to ride road bikes with skinny wheels so it never occurs to me to just break out across the grass to get somewhere. I think ill figure it out some day.
definitely pricey.... my first car cost less! It was an emotional purchase for sure 😅 im sure it will drop in price soon, it already goes on sale quite often!
I just ordered one for my daughter. Then I read comments about the Sport still having e-braking issues. Too "grabby" at low speeds and not strong enough at high speeds even with after the controller changes they made.
these are definitely issues, and i definitely noticed them when i first began using the scooter, but if it makes you feel any better, i dont notice this as much any more. the scooter is definitely not perfect but i do not think there is a more compelling option on the market at this time, maybe the apollo go but it is a fair bit heavier and has a larger footprint, so it wont fit in the trunk very easily, which is a dealbreaker for me personally.
@@DrBernieBabylon The NIU KQi Air is even lighter and could be an option for some, but I was opposed to maintaining air in wheels (even though these are self healing tubeless.) And the foot board is wider.
it's GOOD that the e-brake isn't as strong as it used to be cuz if your front e-brake is anything like GT's e-brake, your scooter will absolutely stop at top speed, but you will go flying if you brake suddenly and unpreparedly. whether or not you think the e-brake is very strong, it's a smart idea to regularly practice shifting your body's center of gravity downward and backward away from the handle bar when slowing down at higher than 18 mph speeds.
Hey bro be careful riding this scooter in the rain, I had to replace my battery in my Gt and I realized just how easy it would be to totally submerge the battery due to the low deck height if I were to go through 2.5 to 3 inches of water or even ride in a downpour for a few min because this scooter has like 0 water protection on the battery.. Here is a fun tip, since this scooter is so low tech it is very easy to add an external 48v 8-10Ah battery pack for extended range, I used my 8ah battery pack and I was able to travel 39 miles on power level 2 and I'm 200lbs . Adding an 8ah pack using a parallel adapter to connect it to my stock battery gives me 18.5ah and my scooter only weighs 4 more pounds so I know have a 33 pound scooter. I plan on Getting the Gt2 by segway but I am a bit nervous about the Low IP Rating, $2599.00 is a lot of money to pay and it not be highly water resistant. Thanks for sharing your story about the water sloshing around in the deck . I have a 1978 Puch Maxie Moped with pedals and my speedometer is water proof also a $1900.00 Honda Navie Scooter cycle and my electronics are fully waterproof so these scooter makers have no excuse.
oh man, I am so glad you told me about the rain, I will be way more careful... Also the extended battery sounds like an awesome idea too, I really appreciate you putting that on my radar!. thank you for the heads up! and glad to help regarding the GT2, I agree its pretty unacceptable to have water able to pool inside the deck, I got really nervous that I ruined it, but thankfully its still doing fine! ofc if anything goes wrong I will post about it here :) there is supposed to be a refreshed model coming out soon as per the Segway team in a year or so, so if I were you I might consider waiting for that!
~$3300 including tax and shipping, the link is gone now for some reason. the GT2 is on sale for 2500 pretty regularly these days, i would just buy it on segways site on sale if i were you.
That company scammed tf out of people with that 4k price tag it had at one point lol. The specs arnt there for such absurd price but anyways love that folding mechanism i know for sure it rock solid rumored too.
hahahaha yea the price was definitely steep! but it is probably the best overall scoot you can get for now, so cant complain too much :') excited to see the new version in the next year or so!
I'm having an issue with the back break on my gt2. It's stopping fine but my break lever moves up and down Quite a bit.. Is there any way to tighten that ??
yea there's a small screw that is just behind the lever itself near the point that the lever handle attaches to the rest of the brake. tighten that, should fix that
12 miles, was about 62% at the end. keep in mind this is one of the oldest GT2s on youtube hahaha will see if segway will kindly send me another battery :')
How many miles do you have on it so far? Any maintenance that you're doing regulary? Got mine last week and about 100 miles into it and haven't done much really other than adding air on first day. I'm treating it like my ninebot max but the max has much less moving parts.
@@samita137 hahaha i try i try :P the shocks were getting noisy, and i am not talking about the clunk noise that all of them have, but it was squeaking, so i lubed the shocks and they were good as new!
@@DrBernieBabylon ah makes sense. Yeah the clunk can be pretty annoying. I see some people getting new springs from Segway if they file a warranty claim, but honestly I’m not that annoyed to go through claims and then go through the installation process. Really loving it so far, only hope Segway won’t release a new version like a month from now and make me feel outdated already.
hahah thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it! this issue only appeared that very night, but it went away after I toggled things on and off in the app... fingers crossed it doesnt come back!
If the g2 and g30 are too slow for you and the gt1 and gt2 are too expensive get the best alternative. The p100s. That's what I want. My g30 is good but too slow for me. I need 30 to 40 mph. The Segway p100s is the one for me.
