After meeting on the Australian continent and exploring the depths of the great barrier reef, a spark connected two creators to further explore the many colours of this world. Together, Jake Rich and Anna Chah have been exploring the timeless sands of the Sahara, the lush islands of Indonesia, and the highest peaks of Italy. Just a quick PSA: JR Railpass is no longer viable. You must almost only drive the Shinkanzen every day for long distances to make it worth after the price changes. Tourist can buy really cheap domestic flight from outside of Japan though.
Still contemplating getting it. Have hero 10 and use for mountain biking/snowboarding and have never switched to high bitrate so I'm used to only 60 and can only be better than 3 year old camera right? Lol. I should press press the button and order?
Osmo Action 4 is unusable when filming at night. The Osmo Action 5 Pro is decent for filming at night, but it doesn't rise to the level of the Osmo Pocket 3, which has a larger sensor, a wider aperture and, last but not least, mechanical gimbal stabilization.
Great video! Appreciate you comparing to the Action 3 as i skipped the 4. Going to get the 5 and the Mic 2. So Thank you for the insight. Also subscribed.
You forgot to say that it is essential to take a beautiful lady with you to your vacation... How cinematic would that be if you are on holiday with your mother??
Great Video! Love the audio & camera feature detail you went to. I wanna see your accessories video! Especially wanna know if I should go adventure kit or vlog kit (or both by buying accessories separately lol). I tend to shoot amateur car videos but wanna shoot more clinical insight videos. It’s not super clear if you can get away with that charging vlog holder thing or need the 1.5m adjustable one….thought? Would love you to hone in on this item because until I watched another video I didn’t even know it had flip out legs!? Wanna know what the buttons do etc. 🙏 Stay amazing Rich (and Anna you’re also amazing - Rich clearly has good taste)
Great video and glad to see you both back! Two part question: 1) What is your go-to action camera now? 2) Which other video cameras do you use, and when do you use them? Ex: Do you switch to another camera for low light/night shots?
Our go to action cam has been action 4 this last year and now with the 5 we're definitely loving it! Main reasons are the image quality and batteries, when you stop using the gopro for a month or so, then return to pick it up, we find that the battery has completely drained, this problem doesn't happen with the dji batteries plus the charging case is so practical. We also use Sony a7s3 for a lot of our AROLL shots and general filmmaking.
@JakeRichandAnnaChah Thank you for the response. I've been looking for a video that showcases how filmmakers on- the- go, transition from one camera to another for day, action, night scenes. I would love to see how you both use your full frame on your travel adventures together with your action cameras.
Generally if the shadows are darker and the highlights are brighter there is less dynamic range, so in that example you can really see how the action 4 is crushing dynamic range in comparison to the 5 where the image is retaining light in the shadows and isn't and contrasted
thanks for the kind words and glad you enjoyed our review, thinking about doing a gp13 review, let's see how the next few months go for us, very busy outside of youtube
Thank you for the review, Jake. As usual, it's an awesome review. I have a DJI drone and Pocket 3, which are really awesome, and a GoPro 11 for anything water-related. With the new Action, I am moving all my gear to DJI. Bye-bye, GoPro.
Nice one guys! Wow the colour science for underwater shots is defs improved, brings back way more of the reds in both log and standard! How do the images look from it? 🤙🤙
Hey Amelia, thanks for checking in, sorry we haven't been so active on the socials lately, plenty of life events happening for us offline that have taken priority, the photos on the OA5 look great, tbh they should have added burst mode in the 3 but stoked it's finally here in the 5. 40mp raw and jpeg!
