GoPro for me although they should have moved to a magnetic mount solution by now. As a heads-up there are 3rd party replacements for the feet on the GoPro that make the GoPro fully magnetically compatible with the DJI Action 3/4 mounts. I was able to upgrade to Hero 12 because they STILL offer $100 off for *existing* (not new anymore, although you do get 1 credit for this per year after your first purchase) subscribers so for me I got a Hero 12 (with even more features) for $299 vs Action 4 at $399.
I have three 9's for my kayak and running around. Given the investment in accessories, not sure I want to switch at this point. As y'all prove, the creator is the variable.
i was always a fan of gopro...but somehow the video quality just doesnt improve that much over the years...the battery doesnt last long enough + it gets overheated very quickly etc etc....
Action cameras and you compare low light standing at window. Run like a Forest Gump pls - this is the test of low light in "ACTION" Camera. Other parts of video are great.
I don't understand all the thumbs down on this video. This is one of the best comparison videos between GoPro 11 and Osmo Action 4. Too many GoPro fanboys? I'm going to sell my GoPro batteries, I've already returned the GoPros after extensive testing. I will switch to DJI and numerous comments also show that they have not regretted their decision with DJI.
Hi, which is better for videos and photos while diving, Osmo Action 4 or GoPro 12? Maybe you can compare both cameras while diving or freediving? Has anyone seen a comparison of these two cameras while diving?
I would prefer Action 4 for underwater videos, cuz the color sensor on action 4 just makes everything underwater look stunning and accurate. i don't need any post-editing but get a great video. @@arturkowalczyk7136
Hey guys! Since you said you shoot lots of underwater - I was wondering what housing you use? Or if you have the same issue. Course snorkeling, no housing was needed. But when I had the housing on snorkeling prepping for a 10m scuba trip it overheated within a few minutes. Any issues with that or solutions? I took off the housing in fear that I would miss footage and it was at the cost of pressure affecting buttons. Personally, it was worth it because I got what I needed. But if I happened to touch the (atm pressure) depressed button, I would be SOL as it would likely stop recording - no way to start recording again w/o ascending.

I wonder if the DJI Action’s magnetic mount works well underwater? 🤔 DJI is starting to make a huge impression on me. Great video and I hope you will get paid by the companies in the future, it is a lot of work to do this! 🫶🏻🌿
@@JakeRichandAnnaChah yeah video quality is still superior but what does it matter if it always freeze. i rage quit gopro and sold everything from them. now i own everything from action 2 to 4 and insta X3. never had a crash on any of those cams. i dont mind prices very much and would be happy if DJI brings out a new action4 plus with 1" sensor and higher resolution for premium money. i wasnt on the hero 12 hypetrain and now after i see what they have done i wont be on the next one for sure. finished with gopro. but i dont mind seeing others love it. its personal for me. got disappointed too many times from all my gopro crap and lost alot memories i can never see again because i had to remove the bloody battery to restart it

Hey.. THANKS a tonn for this comparison it certainly clears a lot of doubt I had, but can you help me me understand that can I use a external mic like Hollyland Lark M1 on the action 4 without being having to buy additional accessory like a media mod on gopro?
Provided you can power the hollyland via USBC you should have no problem when using action 4, I haven’t tested this though but it works on USBC with the DJI wireless mics
Need some advice!! Already have an iPhone 13 Pro Max, but I’m debating whether to buy the GP 12 or Action 4 for a trip to the Philippines. I was to create some nice family videos (non active) - Stick with my phone or buy an action cam for portability?
Gopro for me. On the last test was around 5:30am and the lights on the road are still On, so, it means it's a bit dark and the Sun is about to rise.. the OA4 is picking up more light maybe the help or their software so I think it's not Natural, unlike Go pro picking up a Ntural light and also has a warm color on it. And the other test was great and I thought gopro for the win. You can see the OA4 has a Noise and has a distortion moment whenever you move quickly. Gopro 11 for me.
For context DJI only has 2 image profiles, normal, or DLogM so if you’re not shooting in the flat profile which most users aren’t then you’re only other option is using normal
I see the GoPro with a better picture quality. In fact, i see the Action 4 only better at low light and battery life. The Action 4 is supposed to compete with the 12 and can’t beat the 11
GoPro for me as well. But it's a pity they are not improving image quality. I don't see major improvement if I compared the 11 with the hero 6 I had years ago. And I cannot say the same in mobile phones or standard mirrorless cameras.
Definitely agree, the stabilisation of action cameras have come a long way and are leaps and bounds ahead of mirrorless and mobile phones but you're right, innovation in the action cam space has hit a ceiling :)
The low light comparison at 11:20 is a bit unfair to the GoPro as it is in vibrant color mode, which likely makes the image noisier and yellower. Although the DJI seems able to produce a cleaner image, but it could be exposing differently, the GoPro preserves the highlights better, but has muddier shadows. at 08:20 the GoPro's field of view looks better and more natural. The Action 4 looks way too ultrawide and distorts the buildings in background. GoPro is more cinematic and natural. I wonder if the Hero 12 double battery life compared to the Hero 11 was tested by turning on the GPS on the 11 while the 12 has no GPS. I want to see if battery life is that better than the 11, if the GPS is turned off.
you say the colour comparison is unfair but "normal" is also DJI's most saturated profile so it too should be noiser too but it isn't? This is where the larger sensor on the action 4 is clearly outperfoming the gopro 11 sensor. In summary, we don't use an action camera in low light, we use a full frame, and we are always way happier with the results.
I'm baffled by several of these comparisons of the GoPro and the DJI Action 4, generally concluding in favor of the DJI. Having read them and positive experiences with the DJI drones, I went ahead and bought the Action 4. My conclusion, comparing to my GoPro 10 is huge disappointment. So let's go over some specifics: 1) First some concessions: Yes, the DJI battery life is better. Yes the GoPro standard images are just a slight bit warm, but they look great in general. Yes, I liked the DJI menu look and feel a bit better. Yes, the GoPro software has some quirks. But here's what I found with the DJI: 2) When I first started using the DJI, it worked OK, but the connection to the app got lost multiple times, distance only about 8 feet. But after about three uses, it developed several awful behaviors: It refused to connect, indicating some kind of password problem, which could not be fixed following their instructions. Then, it started saying most of my micro SD cards were formatted in an incompatible form, although they all worked perfectly in the GoPro and my PC, and re-formatting did not fix it. It just deceided not to accept some of my cards with this erroneous error message. 3) Standard image quality is slightly cool and slightly over exposed, and detail is substantially lower than the GoPro. Advancing the sharpening to +2 brought it up similar to the GoPro, but still looked just a bit ragged compared to the GoPro. And the overexposure needed about -0.7EV to be right. So, GoPro is better with standard settings, and the DJI needs constant adjustment. And the cool color can't be corrected consistently because it's either AUTO or pick your color temperature, which would need to be done correctly for any given lighting condition. 4) In general, the DJI picture settings are annoying. You can't depend on their consistency. Set it up one way and next turn on it may come up differently. So overall, I found the performance very disappointing, and I wonder how some of these glowing comparisons happened. So, if you buy one, make sure it is returnable!
thing is that from the launch, a lot of the hero 12 specs are the same as the 11 and therefore more people are interested in the 11 as it is now cheaper, but yes, we will be comparing the 12 for you this week
