Yep, you’ve got it. It’s typical Pareto principle, 20% clients generally contribute towards 80% revenue/profit and 20% of the products we sell make up 80% revenue/profit which means the vast majority of clients and/or products in most businesses aren’t terrible productive!!
@@RobinMWaite I'm running an online language school, focused on Spanish at the moment. Can't think of any specific videos atm but if any specific queries come to mind I'll be sure to come here and let you know! Cheers!
Thank you for the exceptional value you offer. The quality of information you provide is truly commendable. As a token of appreciation I have purchased two of your books “Take your shot” and “Online businesses startup” which are amazing and highly recommend to everyone. I also just received a signed copy as promised by you “Marketing Machine” honestly I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you for not letting your readers down. I am currently binging your videos you are super inspiring.
Thank you Cristina, I hugely appreciate your support and kind words. I’m so glad to hear my content is providing such great value. Do reach out and let me know if there’s anything I can help you with 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Watched your podcast with Ali Abdaal what a great episode I just love that episode, now I found your channel looking forward to learning more things from you ❤
Hey Mohit, that’s so great to hear. I’m glad you enjoyed my chat with Ali. It was a lot of fun to record. And welcome to my RU-vid channel as well, your support is hugely appreciated 🙏🏻🤩
Hey I’m a business strategist and have been going around in circles about the irresistible offer! Finding it really hard because I want ti offer so much!
The idea behind the irresistible offer is to deliver some value, but the acronym I recommend people use is A.I.M. - imagine there are three phases of work, Assessment, Implementation and Maintenance. The “assessment” could be an irresistible offer for example. Just the first phase of work. From there you can then upsell implementation and maintenance. Do reach out if you’d like me to go through this with you and look at your business specifically 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I listened to your podcast $80M Business and 2.5M YT Subscribers-Chris Do From the Future at the gym yesterday and here is the gold that reached out to me.
@@RobinMWaite It would help if I added that right lol. The pricing of not going up just two dollars. I'm currently on my 4th business. My pet sitting biz, my first and still own, the prices did go up a couple of bucks at a time however the price point is much lower to begin with. When I had my gourmet food business prices were raised based on multiple factors such as shipping and product costs. My current business is on a completely different level. People would like hourly and its a no go for me. It's either project based or a flat fee to work with me for 3, 6, 9 months etc.
@@elizabethmagallon-fleury8955 yes, that's it. The goal isn't to collect as many clients as possible, the real goal is to build a profitable and sustainable business even if that's with fewer clients. Someone shared with me that, signing up a client for $100 product when they have a $1,000 budget loses you $900, whereas losing a client with a $100 budget for a $1,000 only loses you $100!! So it's far better to move in large increments with your pricing and test the market thoroughly. So fixed fees, for a clearly defined period of time and with the client's dream outcome in mind, it sounds like you've got your products nailed 🤩
When it comes to niching people usually stop at demographics and psychographics but really the identity layer is elite level niching - when you know who you are, you can attract your people.
Communities are so overlooked, again because people are too impatient to spend time nurturing their audiences and build a relationship! Facebook groups still hold a lot of value provided you build them alongside an email list and other forms of engagement.
Thanks you, yes asking about budget and establishing the bandwidth is super important during the discovery with a new prospect. Too many people avoid this because they don’t like talking about money!!!

Me too Simon, I think a lot of coaches “wing it” when it comes to sales and focus to heavily on recruiting clients…rather than the quality of those clients…slow the process down a bit. But yes, I was guilty of this when I first started my coaching practice as well.
Great video! I’m in the process of learning the basics of coaching and I’m ready to dive into the real coaching world. I have a long journey ahead of me but I also have a very clear vision. I resonate with your energy and I would love to work with you sometime in the future. Thank you for all this valuable content!
Thank you so much, I hugely appreciate you taking the time to watch the videos and also drop a comment. If there are any topics you feel would be super helpful do let me know and happy to have a conversation when you’re ready. Getting those first few clients is absolutely critical, you’ll learn 90% of the business skills you need in enrolling them 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Value-based pricing is interesting to me. In some industries, it's completely normal, and in others, it's defined by law (ex. real estate agents in my country). In my industry, the majority of clients are surprised when the concept comes up. Some people use value-based pricing "behind the scenes," so to speak. They calculate a projected outcome and present a fixed price to the client. The client receives a fixed price regardless of the actual outcome, but you still get paid based on the value provided, even if it's just a projected value. Naturally, there’s debate about whether this is ethical or not. What do you think?
Yes that’s such a valid point about the industry specific rules. My view is that if law firms can do “no-win no-fee” and get a percentage of the payout in certain claims it’s probably ok for other businesses to model. When it comes to anything more clinical (mind, body and spirit) however it definitely crosses an ethical line for me. But value is a perception, right? And ultimately if there’s a fair value exchange between two parties then there shouldn’t be an issue. Interestingly estate agents in the UK operate on a percentage, which is typically 1-2.5% of the house sale price. My advice is always to experiment but ultimately it comes down to your business’ financial goals and what economically stacks up in achieving your business’ and your own financial goals.
@@RobinMWaite I feel that way too, if the client walks away happy it's a win. The clinical services I would hope are regulated well enough, but you never know I guess.
@@ivor_foxtailsoftware 100% a good conversion rate is actually about 1:3 so naturally you're turning away twice the clients you're actually enrolling. Love that you shared this!
Love the flow, flexibility and effectiveness about this advice. I also STRONGLY recommend Robin's book "Take Your Shot" that's a game-changer when it comes to the pricing game.
❤❤ great interview, a few gems to take action , authentic self ✨️ ask what value looking for and take a percentage of added value. I'm my number one fan 😊❤
The values one signs up to in business are by far and away the most important facet of any business owner IMHO. Most business and sectors are completely unregulated so it’s that unwritten, unspoken moral code of conduct one has to sign up to. I could have made a lot more money…but wouldn’t have done it ethically!!
Always guys, got to get the plug in their for you guys and Atomicon 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 chuffed to finally get a convo locked in with Chris. 🤩 and it was solidified at Atomicon 23 so I owe you guys one 🙏🏻🙌🏻
This is brilliant, I'm watching for the second time! I love what you say about having one version of yourself but sometimes it's an exaggerated version. I really feel that when I'm teaching and I love it. When you're your authentic, no one can copy you, because only YOU can be YOU. I love what you say about selling an outcome. No one buys a course/coaching/website etc. Thanks so much for this 👍
Thank you so much for your support 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 great insights you’ve pulled from my chat Chris as well, too many people put on an act and the most successful people are their very best, genuine self at all times. Congruency is so important 👊🏻 so glad you enjoyed it.
Wonderful! 2 of my favorite thought-leaders rocking it together for a delightfully deep-ass convo about Life Purpose and the expression of business FROM your Life Purpose 🙌🏼
Well and you’re both not too far away from one another. A West Coast trip is on the cards potentially in 2025 Brooks…and I might have permission to “do some business trips” while we are out there 🤩🤩🤩 and so glad you enjoyed the interview with Chris as well, I was so happy to finally get the convo locked in.
Based on my professional experience and academic background in consumer psychology, building trust with potential clients is a key factor in their decision to do business with us. Some people refer to it as a 'gut feeling,' but it ultimately comes down to how much they trust us, regardless of our expertise. Trust is often rooted in transparency-both in what we do and how we think. Robin, you've done an excellent job of covering the first aspect. I believe transparency will become even more crucial in the future as people increasingly seek to work with businesses that prioritise transforming lives over just making money. When a business is solely focused on profit, it's less likely to share the kind of openness you've demonstrated in this video. So, well done on this fearless video!
Thank you Alessandro, I completely agree on the transparency front. There are so many fake gooroos out there now who will sacrifice client results over a big payday without hesitation. That’s why I’ve always kept a high ethical and moral code of conduct as I can maintain as a coach. I appreciate your support 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you Maurizio, it certainly makes spending the money on giving books away less painless if you know it’s going to a) be helping loads of people and b) also generating sales. The hard part with book marketing is knowing when the return is going to come as quite often it takes people a few weeks/months to read a book. But I know now for every 100 books I gift to people generally I’ll get 8-10 calls booked and 1-2 sales from it. The trick is making sure they end up in the right hands!
Thank you Grace 🤩 I always look to keep moving forwards and upwards but in a way that’s sustainable and manageable for the long run. I hugely appreciate your support 🙏🏻🙏🏻
"Success is determined by what's going on inside you." That's a brilliant definition and confirms that it's not all about money. Thank you for breaking your numbers down Robin. Really open and honest. It's great to see a coach being brave enough to do this. I was surprised at how well 2 of your "side hussles" are performing. The sponsorships and book sales🙂 Your video has made me tihnk about how I want my business to look going forward. Definitely need a few additional streams.
Thank you Paul, yes the diverse revenue streams are a huge help, when the coaching dips I can fall back on sponsorships and vice versa. Let’s get to work on yours, perhaps it time to get that book written and start promoting it?
