I was at the Venue in Saint Kilda a lot in the 80s. Never saw Goanna there. Id see Goanna in Geelong at the Eureka. Someone needs to clean the sound up and release this. Its the best version Ive ever heard.

I requested Solid Rock on Armidale 2AD in around 1983, they said they played it to many times that day, so they played this song instead. I’ve loved this song ever since!

ahhh nostalgia. my fave nights behind the bar were with luke and the crew. Great energy that infused the crowd. A slice o free flow magic in every gig.
Had the great pleasure to see Goanna (in those early days) play at The Bridgeway Hotel, Pooraka (Adelaide). This is my fave song off the SOP album. Fond memories of a golden period of the Oz Rock Music scene.
Oceania sank like a stone which is unfortunate. I think its a great album. I think I bought the only copy of the CD in existence. Still have it. I saw their first live show after they got back from the States in 1982. I also saw them just recently at the PAC here in Geelong.
its both actually, as explained above they were filming wide shots for what would become the classic clip. so they played along with the track. part mime part live.
Razor's Edge is a beautiful song, superb and evocative lyric, inspired choice to get Hannaford to play the solo (on the studio album as well), despite that Graham Davidge is a wonderful guitarist and I think one of the best players to come out of Adelaide. For me, one of my absolute favourite Australian songs. Thanks for uploading. Great to see classics like this making their way onto RU-vid.
this was the 'live' segment of the filming of the Solid Rock film clip. essentially a live/mime combination. it was at a real gig and they did this towards the end of the set after filming close ups all day. you can see camera men either side of stage. So the didge is from the recording.
