I'm an urban farmer in Sacramento California passionate about re-establishing the relationship between people and the food that they eat through instructional and educational gardening videos. I really just want everyone to enjoy growing food as much as I do!
Great project!!! Looking forward to see in other videos how you accomplished it!! But... your trees and plants will seriously compete for light in the next years. You better begin to think about a larger area and the need of transplanting some of them. That Brazilian fruit you wondered about the shape? It's called pitanga here, and the more nutrition they get the more plump and round they become - just like we humans...😉😄 Scientific name: Eugenia brasiliensis.
This isn’t one of your recent videos but it’s certainly new to me. I do my growing in the county of Shropshire in England, so we’re in different climate zones and it’s difficult to directly compare growing methodologies etc. However, even though I’m a longtime grower of garlic, and that thought I’d probably heard it all, I felt that I learnt a lot from listening to you. You have nice delivery and your good advice was gratefully received here in Shropshire. Thank you👍
The wax jambu I think what you have is the species that is native to North America and the red variety is the Asian variety I forget the botanical names
Does the vacuum introduce a lot of air into the pump and cause problems? I am adding a heater on the backside between the pump and the return to the pool and I definitely don't want air in the heater. Having the vacuum option would be amazing if it works.
Kyle, your videos are so helpful! What does your final irrigation setup for the orchard consist? I'm planning on planting 12 trees in two rows next to each other. Did you create a loop around each tree of 1/2" poly tubing with (x) number of (y)gph emitters? -George
I’m happy for you but jealous Show Off 😜 You folks at Garden full-time. I’m breaking my back trying to keep up with you.😅 I’m looking online for a nice raised bed right now. There’s a heat wave running through middle Georgia as I write this comment
Beware if you opt for a lab test; I sent off a soil sample but there was a mixup at the lab and one of my trees was wrongfully charged for a series of unsolved murders from the 90s. Sarah Koenig won't answer my DMs
Your video helped a lot thank you. I’ve been spraying even after they fruited but was not helping maybe I have been doing more damage 😢. I’ll try for next year 🙏
So impressive! You are so detailed oriented and I can see how much effort and study has gone into developing your food forest. I grew up in west India, and have experienced very wide range and varieties of tropical fruits, and to really enjoy those fruits that have grown in their true environment does make the flavor very intense and the taste incredible. I’m sure your food forest is delicious, but I highly recommend you to travel some of these Asian countries for trying fruits of all kinds.. It’ll be a heaven for you.! Different season different fruits.
I have a Fuji apple tree that I planted 2 years ago. My dilemma is that it definitely needs pruning but it has apples on it. Do I do this type of pruning in the fall after I have harvested?
Hi Kyle, where can I find the elongated pepino melon plant. I heard these are sweeter. I only see the round ones available. I’m in SF Bay Area. Do you sell cuttings or plants?
Inspired by yr videos! Yr fruit orchard & gardens/ farmstead are amazing. Planted more fruit trees in my new home orchard, inspired by yours. 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳 Thank you! 😃🌻
Most of our yard is flood irrigated, so I struggle with what to plant. I have things like stonefruits, but I struggle with tropicals and smaller understory plants.
My son has a very young peach tree, it has very few leaves on it and it had one small peach on it when he brought it but like I said it has very few leaves on it but it's the stem is real tall or the tree is real tall so I'm trying to figure out what can he do to get it to produce leaves so that peaches can grow can you help me?
Wow-this is impressive and inspiring! Curious to know the size of your orchard plus subtropical food forest? I am blessed to have a large backyard, but at times it feels too big replicate my small but successful peach tree guild. Thanks for the great content and for sharing your journey!
