Can you speak on the pros and cons of playing a double strung versus two harps as you do so in this video? Besides stmpathetic resonance it seems like there might be some ergonomic and even musical range benefits of two separate instruments side by side, as well as cost. Two singles allow manufacturers to worry less about overall tension and soundboard reinforcement issues. But i understand without engineering your own setup for two singles side by side that a non-builder player might have issues holding nd positioning two singles. Two singles also could conceivably be up to 36 or 40 string lever models (note I am a tall guy and havent actually played one yet, but am trying to feel out options) giving a much larger range than the largest double strings i see (26? Maybe 32?). What am I missing in terms of reachability for left and right arms when two single harps sit side by side? Is the "flat" surface of a single set of strings comfortable? Is there an ideal distance for you between a double strung set of strings on your Dusty26, as it looks like stabdard might be say 1" between the pairs (would you like even say 6" between strings if possible, which would be achievable with two singles side by side?). Being a beginner is both useful and negative. Starting off you dont know where to start but it also seems important (and potentially easier) as if you start double strung, or cross, or even a triplet then that is just your norm and you dont need to relearn as an experienced harpist might. Note that I am not averse to learning something a little more technically difficult. Do you have insight as to the type of harp that could play the largest repertoire with the most comfort and sound (sans pedal harps), allowing the possibility of playing sharps easily but with a large range and comfort? Is that is the triplet or cross strung? Sorry, I know I will never know until I even try a single one and learn for a while! But I am dedicated and have the ability to build one or a couple from available kits or other. Thank tou for the insight. And ahain, not to "harp" on my question (no pun intended), I am interested in a large chromatic scale and comfortable ergonomic style with good sound. And finally, should one consider sticking with playing two single large side by sides vs a smaller range purpose built double such as the Dusty26? Thanks!
Hi Anne! I’m still studying and practicing 1A! Great warm up time and lots of good review!! Thanks for recording your songs with the sheet music so I can make sure I’m playing the music correctly! 😊
Hello Anne! I love your compositions! And love your lessons!! I’ve bought now 11! -I so much wish to play on my 40string lever harp “The Lord’s Prayer” in a harp arrangement, and see you don’t offer it. Please can you recommend an arrangement, and where to find it? I am an intermediate. Thank you so much!! Julie 🎶💕
So I see three harps Lewis Creek ale Nightingale the Marini made base lap heart and the dusty strings double straw harp. It’s a lot of instruments but just three harps one of those I really would love to get a bigger heart to find a bigger heart would be expensive I know it is expensive, I would see that I would like a harp with 34 strings that is also made by Dusty strings like a Ravenna 34 sure one of those how many strings no matter how many strings are has most harps have 47 strings but I want my heart to have 3634 or 38 strings I probably could contact Dusty strings and see if they’ll send me a 34 string harp which would be really incredible. I have never had a bigger heart and seem to appreciate your taste in music. I wonder what streams I wonder what Dusty strings has in store for me down the road, lucky get a harp with 3438 string. I would like to get any harp. Probably anyone my heart desires I know and.
I'll have to give that some thought. But for now, I have quite a few nice options for small harps. Here's the link to my shop's small harp selection: musicdiscoveries.shop/collections/small-harp
This is a lovely way to honor your Dad, Anne 💙 It conveys thoughtful recollection as well as gently beauty. Your Cherry FH34 sparkles ✨💖✨ Thank you for releasing this piece today. I’m headed over to the shop to purchase
Thank you, Ralf! I had to go look up "taladh criosta" 😉, but yes the 6/8 meter and mixolydian mode do indeed create that vibe! Thank you so much for dropping by to listen!
This piece was originally part of the Remembrance collection. I am re-releasing it today as a solo in memory of my Dad ❤ musicdiscoveries.shop/products/miss-you-harp
Thank you Anne for dymystifying Key signatures and their corresponding lever settings! Wonderfully helpful video for new harpists! Would you suggest to tune to E flat major for the most versatility? Ive been tuning to 444hz for therapeutic harp, but would this perhaps not work for the standard tuning of 440hz and key signatures as the pitch is higher? Grateful for your insight! 🙏🙏🙏
Dusty Strings pickups Rock! I installed two P20s into the 2 DS Crescendos I have (one in Hawaii, one in Michigan), and just a few days ago installed a DS P10 in my 27 string Jessie Nightingale. I ordered the Jack Clamp, but at the last moment we decided to drill a hole instead (I kept the 1/2 Brad point drill bit I used for the other 2 harps.) Dusty provides excellent instructions, and I was very pleased with the job. Anne, I am intrigued how you record directly into your computer. I shall check you videos to see if you have mentioned this yet, but it would be interesting to see how you do,it. Thanks for all of the videos! ❤
This is wonderful. Thank you so much Anne. I love the piece and have purchased the music. The mini lesson has been so helpful and I'll watch often to make sure I maintain the technques you demonstrate. Again, many thanks. 😊💕🎶
