Hi PFTW1995, it seems you understand the transmissions. The car had shown "Input/Shaft Speed Sensor No Signal" error and was recently fixed. The professional was not speaking English well and all I understood is that the input/shaft gear had to be adjusted to always send the signal to the "Input/Shaft Speed Sensor". I wonder could what you explained in the video (although the car might be different) be what he actually did to solve the problem. I would appreciate if you can point me in the right direction.

Oil comes from under the first head under load and temperature after 190F. Two weeks ago I changed the gasket and put new bolts, but the problem did not go away. What can happen? Thank You!

Yeah- -On occurance #3 and the SAME cylinder and intake/exhaust, I think I will have gone backwards from the valve to the springs to the keepers to the push tubes to find the followers and the camshaft.

My '99 N14 did the same thing: broke a valve near the top, I heard the tinging and shut it down immediately. Luckily it didn't do any damage to the cylinder/piston. My cam had several lobes that looked like that one, and all the matching cam followers were the same. New cam, bearings, and once I finally got 3 decent heads from Cummins, she's been going strong. I love the N14 design. So easy to work on.

In my experience you must always fine the cause. Never assume it just wore out or bad parts . I would have done all the things you did because doing a total rebuild every time is not economical. I am 66 now and still work on diesels and from the school of hard knocks I have learned to study details. Like you found if you stop look and listen the engine will tell you what is wrong. Enjoyed your video.Thanks for sharing.

Will just unpluging the sensor do the same ??
@PFTW
@PFTW 3 года назад
No, The ECM will detect an open circuit and basically derate to something like a no boost safe mode. So your 400-500hp engine will act like a super sluggish 250hp engine. that's the first thing I tried.
@m23jumpman
@m23jumpman 3 года назад
Where did you get your potentiometer ?
@m23jumpman
@m23jumpman 3 года назад
Also , if you just complete the circuit by bridging both wires would it do the same thing or would Ecm sense that it’s too much current?
@PFTW
@PFTW 2 года назад
@@m23jumpman I ordered a potentiometer set off amazon. To my knowledge these sensors operate at around 0.5v to 4.5 volts, so if the ECM sees roughly 0.0v or 5.0v it will throw a "open circuit" or "shorted to high" code respectively.

You forgot the most important part! In order to impress the ladies (or guys if you happen to float that way) You have to hang the fake testicles from your trailer hitch so when you aren't being a douche and spreading smoke, they can still verify that you are a douche by the fake testicles!

My viewing diagnoses is that you have a worn exhaust cam lobe on cylinder # 6 due to overheating. That is the main cause of your troubles.

I hope that my N14 does not drop a valve.😕 My N14 has 1,149,000 miles with 43,500 hours. I have not read much about valves dropping on N14s. I have read that N14s eat injectors and sometimes there are cam issues.

Impact to the top of the piston causes swelling to the piston crown, sometimes will seize if you reuse it

Hi Philip, I've seen some of you comments and videos, as well as the K100 you entered in the ATHS virtual show this year. Its great to see people from across the pond who love the classics. As far as the piston, it thankfully did not become a problem. But this was not the end of the story, the rest of the story can be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zA5IS8VTtH0.html
