The ratio of killed Ukrainians to captured Ak-12s is interesting. Of course, taking into account the fact that the Russians have one rifle for three and they fight with sapper shovels...)))

Simple question: if you could bring back the old Zlobin prototype AK-12 and make that the new standard-issue version, would you?

Keltec RDB has a version called Defender, that is 6.7lb, has a bunch of m-lok space, 16" barrel, 27" overall length, has downward ejection, is 1.1 - 1.2k$. The regular version and the Survival version can be found for 700-800$ when there's deals on them. The Survival one is a bit weird, no pistol grip, but is a 26" overall length weighing only 5lb 14oz.

the sa80 action noise is really loud, again not a problem during firing, but you notice it when dry handling, i think it's because when fixing it into the a2, hk basically overgased it and gave it really heavy springs, also firing pins that don't break. idk how or why, but the cyclic rate remained low, which is nice, when firing you hear the next round chambering separate from the boom. females sometimes find it difficult to operate, possibly because of the really long length of pull, or because of the really heavy springs, being a bullpup it's quite hard to cock from the shoulder, especially from prone. if you don't do it properly you can pull a muscle, but people learn to deal with it
@nickl7488
@nickl7488 Месяц назад
the sa80 trigger is quite ok for a military trigger, it rattles before the linkage is tensioned but the take up is not long and the break is clean. dry firing feels terrible because the hammer bounces a little, but live firing won't have that

There's not a bullpup on the US civilian market that does anything exceptionally better than a similarly priced AR. This doesn't mean they are inherently bad. If you had to equip a military whose most likely use is in foreign deployments, a bullpup is probably a good, well-rounded choice for compactness and effective range.

Biggest issue with the x95 is weight. It’s over 9 pounds.
@erroneous6947

I happen to like bullpup rifles. The high cost relative to an Ar-15 is one reason for low popularity. Bullpups are notorious for heavy long triggers. That’s mostly been improved imo. I’ve shot a few of them and the weight tends to be a bit heavier. The keltec 5.56 bullpup is light but it doesn’t feel durable imo.

I think the "concern" for where the action is, comes from people assuming the worst. They are concerned that if you have a catastrophic malfunction where the gun blows up, since the action is near your head, the likelihood of you being injured or killed is slightly higher then on an AR style rifle. However, I agree with you guys in that; if you aren't shooting dodgy ammunition, and if you are taking care of the rifle as you should, then those types of concerns are largely invalid. Especially with modern manufacturing.

Even though I own an X95, my 'apocalypse' rifle would be an AR, for availability of parts. Even if parts don't mesh perfectly, the odds are good that they will work.

I think the complaint about bullpups that makes the most sense is that it is a lot harder to clear malfunctions. Most malfunctions in an AR platform rifle can be cleared without taking the rifle out of your shoulder. Bullpups having the action further back and often a more difficult to access chamber makes clearing malfunctions a pain. This is speculation only as I don't own a bullpup, but it is one complaint that makes sense to me
@DJ-jq8if
@DJ-jq8if Месяц назад
I thought this too until I got a bullpup. Got a steyr Aug to train with and if I ended up liking it, I would make the switch. There are cons to bullpups but determining and solving malfunctions on a steyr Aug, is significantly better than a AR15.

Pick a scope with a wider FOV instead of using lower magnification. There are plenty of good ones out there with 22 or more FOV while NF only has like 20degree.

So what about the Knights Armament Light Assault Machine Gun (5.56). Or it's big brother in 7.62 NATO or 6.5 Creedmoor? A lightweight low recoil belt-fed LMG/MMG, using Sullivan's constant-recoil princible and essentially being The US/Knights Armament and Eugene Stoners take on the Ultimax 100 and what became the final evolution of the Stoner 63 which by then they'd finally decided "We'll just stick with beld-feeds" simplifying the gun instead of it somehow having to be reconfigurable into an IAR using magazines. The weapons light enough and the recoils so low that even the 7.62 can be held and fired one handed, it's also suppressable, and a non-standard feed tray that's easier to reload a belt in by feel. Or if you just need some BRRRRT! And shock and awe, the CETME Ameli 5.56 lmg based on the MG 45 aka MG 42/V. Small, mostly stamped so light, and a ROF of 900-1,100rpm... One thing I didn't really hear discussed is Gas Mask DO NOT work in a low oxygen environment. So if fire, smoke, some kind of chemical agent, etc, happens or is used deep in some tunnels and/or confined spaces you're gonna NEED a SCBA on you to either don quickly or suffocate, such as a Rebreather or an O2 mask & tank. If they 100% "REALLY Bad Guys" we can always just try pulling a Ft Drum again. I.e. pour a couple Hundred, if not thousands of gallons of Diesel fuel or Kerosene down the ventilation shafts and here maybe the entrance as well, then gather up a bundle of a bunch of Incendiary grenades (Thermite, any old Willy Pete, etc.), and frags, and finally some actual Demolition charges like a 10lb Satchel Charge of C-4 or that Demolition bomb intended to be set on a narrow road and crater it. Place ALL those in and around the entrance area, and start an electronic timed detonator (Or daisy chain the explosives to the entrance outside enough a remote detonator can be used to initiate it, and sympatheticly detonate charges back into the entrance). And those baddies that haven't passed out or asphyxiated from the fumes, will be greated by a massive Fuel Air Explosion cascading throughout most of the complex. In addition, ALL the air will be consumed by the fire and Explosion, and like a mine Explosion, immediately be flooded with an instantly Lethal MASSIVE amount of carbon monoxide where one breath is all it takes to Lethally poison you (Flame Throwers in the PTO could blast a hidden firing port where an MG ambushed them, and then inside they'd discover a whole complex and find dozens, even hundreds sometimes, of untouched dead bodies throughout the whole tunnel. They eventually realized the flamethrowers made so much carbon monoxide so quickly it essentially gasses EVERYONE else in the cave. This happened so much and was so effective, there's still claims and conspiracy theories that the US illegally used chemical weapons on Okinawa.).

If people don't take this seriously, theyre seriously going to get a lot of people killed unnecessarily... This is ABSOLUTELY something that needs to be a new or current unit adaptation to specialize in as well as additional training for all combat arms units to be able to take a the course for qual to get the patch and bring that knowledge back and/so should the need arise.. Yes sir this is why we pay taxes. I support it 100%

Bullpup large caliber short cased sub machine gun? or I suppose you could classify it as a, Sub Terra Engagement Variant Irregularly Extreme. I call him, scuba STEVIE. with a Kriss Vector style recoil mitigation system suppresed and using sub sonics stacked 1:1 AP and them new splinter hollow points that are basically pieces held together by micrometers of connecting metal like the old M2 frags.. They look like that... I know they're"illegal," they're for training, lighter ammo. Say like a 338 in a 5.56 cartridge necked out in a bullpup setup with the recoil mitigstion of the RM .338 and the Kriss Super V, the freakchild of those two conjoined, at, say 600 rpm. 10 a second is PLENTY. Or a whole new case actually, have AI run models to find the best 5 on paper, and of those 5 pick the 3 that perform best real life, and then deduce from there...

Yeah the moral and ethical boundaries behind an autonomous kill bot is a Rubicon I know they've already crossed if only in theory being released or known publicly yet.. But that is a Rubicon I pray the public never sees. Arm it with nighty night Zzzz tranq darts and program it to go for exposed skin or lightly covered non vital ish parts ie forearms, legs, upper torso, groin, *ss.. Savage, but better than dying!!

Back in the 70’s there was a groundswell militia movement. The government tried to quash it. It went underground. Two senators met with a spokesperson for the militias. And the else high brows tried to brow beat him. He told them You do know that you are talking about people that will go stand out in the woods for 8 hours just to shoot a deer. For fun. The two senators whispered to each other and they backed off. They infiltrated and broke up many militias. But not the spirit. When I was in high school in the seventies deer hunting in Pennsylvania was so popular there were over a million in the woods first day of buck. It’s now less. About 900 thousand but still one state is larger than most counties of the worlds militaries. And equipment is much improved. That’s why they threaten with jets and nukes.

This variation of the AK-12 has been in service for 7 years, and you discussed and tested it only a year ago. At the same time, the 3rd or 4th generation of this rifle entering production. You are disappointed with it, but let’s say it was adopted quite a long time ago; whether this decision is good or bad does not matter. Just a known fact and that's all.
