My goal is to show that being a "maker" nerd is cool. I may not know it all (I promise you I don't!), but you can follow along my journey and we can figure it out together. You'll see furniture, art, boxes, superheroes, etc. Lets geek out over stuff that we can build! If you want to see some cool projects and have fun with me along the way then please subscribe!
Love the box! Very interesting design and fairly straight forward to make if you have the right tools. I ended up making one to go with the necklace I got for my partner as a gift and got a lot of compliments.
The first 1,000 people to use my link will get a full year of Premium membership to Woodworkers Guild of America for only $1.49: go.wwgoa.com/newtonmakes2/
This project reminded me of Woody Hyezmar's Bible somehow…, although you can currently get it at no cost, the projects are worth a good look. Maybe try go’ogling his latest.
I have been watching your videos for a long time. I love them all but this is awesome. Move over David Attenborough. Very professional made and edited. Can't wait for more.
🌲🍀🐾yeah, I liked the hesitation moment right after you dropped the cherry board, before you looked up at the camera 🤣 I know this moment too well😎. Nice finish. Not too shiny. But if it were, you could just go over it lightly with an S.O.S. pad, to make it a more satin like look😉🐾🍀🌲.
You're definitely one of the best (influencer for lack of a better word) you make things clear without things getting convoluted Other than having woodworking as a hobby I've been a interior trim carpenter over 30 years I really like and I've never seen before shooting 23g threw the blue tape the filling the nail holes I'm not sure how I've never thought of that 200iq stuff there
I don't think people understand stand how many different skills needed to cut dovetails successful I actually use a lehi dovetail jig to cut the tails. Then chink in my armor layout I still have issues with layout
Nice take on french polish. The criticism of shellac is often that it is not protective enough. I have used it on my dining room table and after a year it still looks great. The good thing is that if it does need some refurbishing you just have to sand it lightly with 320 and apply another coat. As far as the work applying the dining room table is 9 feet by 3 feet and it only took about a half an hour for each coat (top, edges, bottom and legs). The great bonus is that this stuff is totally natural and does not harm to the environment. Food products are coated with shellac and the alcohol evaporates without the environmental damage of most finish solvents. I have moved to using hot hide glue and shellac for almost all my shop projects as I try to reduce my carbon footprint.
I wish you had bought the 1632 oscillator sander to compare post drum sander handheld RANDOM ORBITAL SANDER need . Do you know anyone who has used or reviewed the 1632OSC jet drum sander ? I have seen 2244 oscillator review but not 1632 oscillator review . I have small shop in Idaho and have to sand outside and our weather often makes this horrible with winds to 25 MPH and frequent not forecast brief rain that makes me hate sanding and packing everything up to run into garage . Like your channel , trust you also . Jack in Idaho
What you are promoting here is the tried-and-true French Polish. Use a soft cotton cloth instead of a paper towel for better results. I use mineral oil or boiled linseed oil instead of the walnut oil. Takes a little more time and effort but can't beat the results for shine and smoothness.
Great tutorial and a magnificent piece of work. Quick question, did you use edge grain for the coloured strips and if so, how has that held up with the expansion and contraction ? Thanks for sharing. Regards, Phil👍🏻
