I am a 30 year educator in Lexington, Kentucky. I absolutely love my job. I loved my 20 years in the classroom and last 10 as associate principal of Lafayette High School. I am using this channel to uplift our school and students that I am extremely proud of. It has been my honor to work with these amazing students and staff. On this channel, you will find two things: 1) videos about education which may include anything about school, students, or the profession in general. 2) videos about me and things that interest me that will allow others in the community to see a different side of an education professional. I hope you will subscribe and click the notification bell and that you keep coming back! You may email with questions, comments, dialogue. Commercial dry dog/cat food is too high in protein. Try lower protein rabbit food, oats, alfalfa, etc, or minimize the amount of the dog food in the mixture. Too much protein can cause gout in the reptiles being fed.
I’ve heard from other Dubai-raising videos that dog/cat food isn’t good for them because it’s too high in protein. Also I’ve also heard that you want ventilation on the sides of the bin. Other than those issues I like your set up. Your reptile is very cute… and hungry. 😂
I followed your advice on the substrate mixture- have it all mixed up and almost ready to pour it in. My beardie does semi to like to stick his tongue out in the yard, so hopefully this substrate doesnt cause an issue. Thanks for your video
To get the dirt out of the roots is fairly easy. I knock off what I can as gently as possible. I soak them in water and than gently rinse off the soaked mud. You really can’t get 100 percent of it off but you will get all of the perlite out
I'm a newb to this and immediately seen that you are going to want a side opening enclosure so you don't stress them out reaching in from above (they'll think it's a predator attacking like a bird)
Great video! Thank you for showing Digi while you're redecorating his enclosure. Totally relaxed and calm... precious :) So many people show only their faces talking and explaining, which is not right. Love your attitude towards the cleaning crew - they also must be happy :) I came across to your video just now, why not earlier?!
I have the same tank, full of fish right now. But they are moving to a different tank this weekend. I was wondering what to do with the tank. And as I was researching the bearded dragon, I see you using it as a set up for one. No longer searching for a pen, as I had one in front of me. You're a great teacher. Thank you for giving a lot of needed advice.
So we’ve the done the same .. do we clean out this substrate very few months ??? Web had him there with the clean up crew few months noticed the dirt starting to smell even though we pick up the pop
Why so small of roaches that’s a big lizard! Great video btw!! I feed my 2”baby tarantulas that large of prey items . Lizard looks over a foot ! Are beardis hard to care for ??
I love this video, especially the plants, i plan to find some for my bearded dragon. If i had one critique, it would be i dont see a tube UVB fixture. UVB is vital to long term health for many reptiles including bearded dragons.
Next time you can submerge your plants in water in a bucket or some type of container prior to get all the perlite out without damaging the root systems hope that helps i remember i had an issue ones time with my plants and needed to get rid of all the prior soil fast and thats what i thought of my plants thrived right after not too much stress on them
I have to ask where did you get the enclosure and stand from? I love the setup, I was worried about the substrate in the beginning, but I realize it's ok.
