These books combine some of my favourite tropes and guilty pleasures. Found family, angst, secret identity, secret scars, did i mention angst, tragic backstories, the gay, self-sacrificing idiots, the ASEXUAL REP?! It was a wild ride. The best part is that I also didn't know what I was getting into at all. I thought it would be a fluffy, vaguely gay found family sports book where they play some cricket and talk about feelings and queer bait. I was WRONG! This was years ago, there weren't any memes or trigger warnings i could've stumbled across to give me a heads up 😂 Honestly, I probably wouldn't have read it had I seen the warnings beforehand. It really depends on how it is handled in the story for me, I usually err on the side of caution. Let's just say, Aaron's reaction was very cathartic. When you asked "do i like Andrew now?" I vibed with that so hard. I couldn't read him at all in the first 1,5 books. Still don't know what to think tbh. I just know that I'd be so f-ing scared of him irl. I do know that I don't like Nicky.
Follow up bc I’m just commenting as I go through the vid. No one would survive a Aftg musical there would be sobbing and tears and just it would be a mess
i did text you about this and this is mostly correct i agree with almost all of your hot takes. at least for the movies i've seen. once again katie has incredible taste. lion king IS kinda mid. frozen 2 is great. encanto is overrated. hunchback really is the disney prince of egypt like thats a perfect way to phrase it. i disagree about moana but i understand why you feel that way. I LOVE U I MISS U THIS WAS FUN
This is the first video of yours that I have watched and honestly I'm surprised I sat all the way through it - not because it was bad, but because I didn't expect to watch a stranger for an hour, you get me? 😅 Anyways, I just wanted to say that it was really interesting to hear your thoughts on Disney movies, especially because you and I have such different opinions in many cases. And yes, I was one of the people who said: 'Are you kidding me??' when I heard your opinion about The Lion King. I mean, this movie is so iconic, the songs are masterpieces, the theme of Scar's betrayal is so simple yet good but overall I just really enjoy the movie and think it's really fun to watch 😁 It was really pleasant to listen to you, might stay on your channel a little longer. Have a good day! 😊
I’m was so obsessed with Alice in wonderland that my 1 year birthday was Alice in wonderland themed it’s actually my favorite book and I could do a tier list like that just with Alice in wonderland adaptations, I’m so happy someone loves that movie too it’s not a perfect adaptations of the book but it’s beautiful and fun
duude i was so sad at school today and then i watched this video during study hall and in the hallway and i did walk into a door but anyway it made me veery happy ty
KATIE MY BEST FRIEND KATIEEEEE i love this i love you im so excited for the Return. personally im going to pretend that this video was filmed directly for me personally and that you're talking Specifically to me because i MISS YOUUUUUU but im very excited to see what else you make <33333333 i love you so much this is so fun hehe
you don’t have to! they’re not connected beyond taking place within the same universe and sometimes sharing a character. but they’re all written to stand on their own
19:10 thats real, everytime i suggest this series, i make sure to offer full trigger warning disclosure bc holy moly This book is crazy Its the best dumpster fire i have ever read Also this video is so underrated, i loved it!
hey, i got the four book collection (solitaire, radio silence, i was born for this and loveless). i want to read on order but between solitaire, radio silnence and i was bornfor this, loveless you mentioned nick and charlie. Should i still read that order but without nick and charlie or do you have another suggestion?
Im probably a bit late but read it w/o nick and charlie bc nick and xharlie is its separate story like the rest of them but the other ones (exept iwbft) has 1 event from solitaire which im not gonna spoil
Yess! Mal was my second favorite character after Alina the first time I read Shadow and Bone. Then I read SoC and now I love Kaz and that's a whole thing now, but I will always be a Malina stan! I just want to show this to everyone who ships her with the Darkling or Nikolai. Besides, after King of Scars, we all now Nikolai belongs with Zoya anyway lol.
*flicking lights on and off* WELCOME TO HELL! I love watching people reacting to this series, cause it goes from "ai dont know how i feel about this" to "HOLY FUCK" and i couldnt be more appreciative
I listened to Nick and Charlie and the sister's version of the story via audible here on RU-vid for free. I couldn't believe what happened in Tori's story but I'm glad they are soul mates and did make up in the end. I also do like it's a bit more realistic because no couples are ever 100% perfect. Ever! The only thing I really don't like that I'm glad the show takes out is the strong language (swearing). As a gay Christian I'm trying to stay away from it but it's hard. It seemed out of place in the book and for a more mature audience especially Tori's story.
Nicky is irredeemable. I know a lot of people love him but I just don’t get it. This series really does well with detailing verbal consent later on but there was no time or energy spent on catharsis around Nicky getting his due or at least growing as a person - probably the one thing I can’t excuse in these books.
me while reading radio silence and trying to recognize every heartstopper/solitaire character that has a cameo there (there was Nick, Michael, Becky but I'm not sure and someone else): 🕵🏻♀️
one thing I noticed about the writing style is that sakavic uses character names A Lot when describing anything UNLESS she's writing a game, then the number of character names is dropped and it makes it feel more fast paced. I only noticed this because I've been reading the series out loud to my partner (he's dyslexic and loves the series more than me so far, mostly because it reflects his own trauma and he relates heavily to many characters)
