Here’s my first attempt at a country song, written for the Talent is Timeless March challenge.
I Wouldn’t Mind
There’s a sink full of dishes in the kitchen
A pile of dirt & dust under our bed
Cobwebs in the corners
Of the memories in my mind
And the mess that you left in my head
And I know I’m a fool to still want you
After all of the pain you left behind
To hear your key in the door
And your honey voice once more
Darlin’ , you know, I wouldn’t mind. X2
You could say the words to fill my heart with roses,
Balloons of foolish dreams filled our home
But I watched the flowers die
And dreams drift to the sky
And this heartbroken woman left alone
And I know I’m a fool to still want you
After all of the pain you left behind
To hear your key in the door
And your honey voice once more
Darlin’ , you know, I wouldn’t mind. X2
Well you know we’re both too proud for begging
So I guess this is the way it has to be
You out wandering somewhere
And me crying in this chair
Hanging on to a fading memory.
And I know I’m a fool to still want you
After all of the pain you left behind
To hear your key in the door
And your honey voice once more
Darlin’ , you know, I wouldn’t mind. X3
