Monte Pahu Farm is a hill farm, where we breed Red Devon Cattle. Red Devons are very gentle, easy to farm cattle, that do very well on our steep hills. All our cattle are grass fed only. Follow along on Instagram and Facebook montepahufarm.myshopify.com
Thank you! Although it may not be obvious there is a wire around the fields and across the gates, sometimes the steeper slopes mean they end up standing under the outrigger wire, but as long as it stops them thinking they can walk or jump over I’m happy- they do like to get as close as possible to each other! The cattle don’t come on to the hill top so there’s no hot wire on that side:)
How to tell if your cow has been mated or bred ? It's easy.. they usually lock themselves in the barn, eat a lot of sweets, cry or laugh for no reason and blush if you ask them something
Regards from Scotland, i was a student at oatridge agricultural college in the 1970s, and at that time they ran a small herd of Devon reds, i remember helping the college farm stock woman to prepare " kudu" magnificent 3 year old stock bull for the royal Highland show , sadly unplaced by the in vogue continental breeds , memories eh, 🏴 happy healthy peace ✌️
Hello there! Yes, the trend for big cattle still continues, I don’t think people realise how much feed they need to finish them. We’re very grateful for people who value this lovely breed!:)
It is winter here, the grass stopped growing a few months ago, they are enjoying what they can, and are then fed hay saved from summer. They are all fat as can be seen ☺️
