I thought the one actress was Elinor Donahue but then I remembered Elinor wasn't that old. I loved this movie. I had heard the song but never saw the movie. It was a time when there was romantic love not sexual lust.
Asia............. China, the great quarry of a lovely people who have grace, dignity , and determination. I pray that more and more of you will find Jesus Christ..... and be released into the freedom of his great love so that your lives will be beautiful and complete.
I love the score to this film, but I especially love how this song’s arrangement was interwoven throughout the entire film. From the beautiful scene showing the coming of spring to the garden, when the choir children are singing the melody, to the orchestral parts, to when it’s played melodramatically during tense moments. Then it’s played quietly at the peak of the film when Colin sees his father outside… and then again at the end when Colin walks and everyone is happy. Finally, Linda’s version plays on the credits.
Missing JD Souther today, and after hearing this version, I’m wishing he had made a Great American Songbook album along with all of the Classic songs he wrote or recorded.
