Loving this series... a lot of videos are just "step by step this is how you do this specific thing", but they never mess around with clips on the fly and show the creative process.
You are an exceptional teacher! and make it very accessible for beginners. I don't know much about music, but it makes so much sense when you repeat the basics. I would love to have you teach us the same way, but about music in general/making music.
This comment means a lot thank you. When people repeat things it helps me a lot so I try to do it as well. I’ve got a lot of content coming about both music and even just creativity in general over these coming months!!
Hey Bro Love your teaching style. I’ve had Ableton for years but I was always intimidated to start. I tried watching tutorials but there were so many that I didn’t know where to begin. Any I did watch were either really boring or didn’t make sense as a beginner. I was gifted in school but something about music production has always intimidated me. It’s genuinely broken my heart that I haven’t been able to make music or learn how to do it for so long. I’ve wanted this for ten years but life just keeps getting in the way. I’m really trying this time and I want you to know you’re a huge part of it. Your teaching style and casual laid back nature are amazing. You have a gift for teaching in a way that is engaging. I notice you haven’t posted recently but keep going with this. I think you can go far. I’m really glad I stumbled upon this tutorial amongst a sea of other more popular trash. Love from Australia
WOW dude I really appreciate you sharing this and also what you've said about my teaching style it honestly means a lot to me. I totally understand where you're at because I have a similar relationship to posting on social media (and still kind of do). Life just keeps getting in the way. As frustrating as it is, if you can use sheer grit to force yourself to spend even 15 minutes a day just to learn one little thing in Ableton, the results you'll have over the span of a year (even over just a few months) will be WILD. Sounds like you're like me in the sense that 15 minutes a day just seems pathetic and like "that amount of time pales in comparison to what I know my potential is, so why would I even bother unless I can bring myself to go all in?" But truthfully man, after probably a month or so, I bet you find yourself WANTING to spend more than 15 minutes each day because you'll actually be encouraged by the progress you're making. You'll likely need to use less pure grit and be able to rely more heavily on actual inspiration to drive you. Fills me with joy to know my videos are contributing to you getting started and I'm absolutely posting more!!!
Yo man, thank you so much!! For real thank you!! Trying to understand how this thing works has depressed me for months almost a year, this is the first time I have had any hope of like oh I think I'm getting it now. Again Thanks man.
I wish I would have found out about you years ago when I was on AL lite but then again you probably wasn’t on YT!!! the way you explain is starting to make sense now or probably because I had a general understanding by then🤔
I don't worry too much about the scale or pitch of the drums. Unless a certain drum sound has a real "note" kind of vibe (like a snare that sounds like a sing-able note). If it does, I click on that particular drum sound inside my drum rack and go over to the right and move the "transpose" knob until it feels right. There's no set rules really for drum pitch, it's based on which note is your favorite and usually they honestly all work.
It sucks that some of these are only in the full suite edition. Being a newer producer I only have Standard. I often have to search for cheap 3rd party alternatives for those.
@@SpeedRacerx89 ahh yeah i see... those don't really do what Amp does but Overdrive is pretty close if the Standard version has that one! If not, this plugin is free: www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_FreeAmp/#Download Just download it and install it, and then go to Ableton's preferences and click on the "plugins" tab. Then click on the top button "rescan" and now you should have the plugin in Ableton's "Plugins" category on the left
Thank you!!! I have been sitting on this software for a few months so confused! This was exactly what I needed! Looking forward to doing all your tutorials
Coming from someone who also hated it also but it was because I didn't understand the DAWs and now that I do ableton is actually set up easier while Logic floods you with more settings options. Ableton piano roll is less buggy and automation is actually fun.
@@jonnythegenie I am writing songs in vocal form, so I plan to build everything around the vocals, and I think I would need to work more with building midi tracks. I am not sure yet, but it seems like building your midi gives the most freedom in creating melodies, when you don't have that much equipment and skill to record instruments. Can you please explain more about building midi, or even vocal editing? I appreciate your channel so much! :) Thank you! You are the best :D
Ok I understand and also that's awesome to build songs around vocals. I'll make sure to show some MIDI stuff in upcoming videos! For now though this video I made should help a bit! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yOfUuKpwwyM.html
Thank you so much for this. I have always wanted to start producing my own music but Ableton has always been so intimidating- this was such a great and clear start. Can't wait to watch the other videos!
@@jonnythegenie I did indeed, hopefully getting it recorded with my band soon! Until then gonna try make a demo of it on Ableton which is why these videos have came massively in handy!
