This tutorial would have helped me IMMENSELY when I first got Ableton Live. I watched a bunch of these "beginner tutorials" and it feels like these RU-vidrs really don't remember what it's like to ACTUALLY be a beginner. So I've really tried to use language that will make sense to legit beginners. Hopefully this gives you guys an idea of what the hell you're looking at when you open it up for the first time. Congrats on getting Ableton my creative friend :)

Hey Bro Love your teaching style. I’ve had Ableton for years but I was always intimidated to start. I tried watching tutorials but there were so many that I didn’t know where to begin. Any I did watch were either really boring or didn’t make sense as a beginner. I was gifted in school but something about music production has always intimidated me. It’s genuinely broken my heart that I haven’t been able to make music or learn how to do it for so long. I’ve wanted this for ten years but life just keeps getting in the way. I’m really trying this time and I want you to know you’re a huge part of it. Your teaching style and casual laid back nature are amazing. You have a gift for teaching in a way that is engaging. I notice you haven’t posted recently but keep going with this. I think you can go far. I’m really glad I stumbled upon this tutorial amongst a sea of other more popular trash. Love from Australia

WOW dude I really appreciate you sharing this and also what you've said about my teaching style it honestly means a lot to me. I totally understand where you're at because I have a similar relationship to posting on social media (and still kind of do). Life just keeps getting in the way. As frustrating as it is, if you can use sheer grit to force yourself to spend even 15 minutes a day just to learn one little thing in Ableton, the results you'll have over the span of a year (even over just a few months) will be WILD. Sounds like you're like me in the sense that 15 minutes a day just seems pathetic and like "that amount of time pales in comparison to what I know my potential is, so why would I even bother unless I can bring myself to go all in?" But truthfully man, after probably a month or so, I bet you find yourself WANTING to spend more than 15 minutes each day because you'll actually be encouraged by the progress you're making. You'll likely need to use less pure grit and be able to rely more heavily on actual inspiration to drive you. Fills me with joy to know my videos are contributing to you getting started and I'm absolutely posting more!!!

Haven’t had the motivation to start working in Ableton because it was so confusing but you did the opposite of everyone else. You paid extra attention to small stuff and put aside stuff we didn’t need to mess with starting out. Stuff like that always gets overlooked in other videos. Ima start working on stuff tonight
@jonnythegenie
@jonnythegenie 3 месяца назад
Nice congrats on getting started!!! The tutorials I used to watch would ALWAYS leave out the small stuff and talk way too much about stuff no beginner would feel comfortable with, so I'm happy you got some value from this!!

Thank you so much. I'm new to Ableton and use the Standard version. So many other videos say that they aim for the Ableton beginner but I find them either to advance or only use tools in the Ableton suite version. Your content explanation and style is amazing. Keep up this great work 😊

@@jonnythegenie I am writing songs in vocal form, so I plan to build everything around the vocals, and I think I would need to work more with building midi tracks. I am not sure yet, but it seems like building your midi gives the most freedom in creating melodies, when you don't have that much equipment and skill to record instruments. Can you please explain more about building midi, or even vocal editing? I appreciate your channel so much! :) Thank you! You are the best :D
@jonnythegenie

Ok I understand and also that's awesome to build songs around vocals. I'll make sure to show some MIDI stuff in upcoming videos! For now though this video I made should help a bit! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yOfUuKpwwyM.html

hey jonny lars student here. quick question. clip envelopes are essentially automation but for a clup specifically correct? with just being able to modulate mixing parameters?
@jonnythegenie
@jonnythegenie 3 месяца назад
yo yeah exactly the clip envelope tab allows you to control automation of just the one clip you're working with. Very helpful for duplicating something and retaining all it's automation info without needing to adjust anything in the actual timeline of your project. I especially use the "transposition" parameter CONSTANTLY in the clip envelope tab on audio clips it goes so hard

oooh okay for sure. bro i swear this explanation was way easier to understand then all the other vids ive seen lol. appreciate it. what max for live plug ins do you recommend?@@jonnythegenie
@jonnythegenie
@jonnythegenie 3 месяца назад
hell yeah man happy to hear that!! I'll def do an audio effect rack video once I get a few more beginner videos out of the way. As far as max for live I've only really been messing with "Real Time Pitch to MIDI" and "NoteHolder". The pitch to midi one basically turns audio into midi in real time like so u can make a guitar be midi at the same time as you play it. That way u can put MIDI effects on it while you play it live. And NoteHolder is just a trigger that makes the last note you played just hang on forever until u turn it off.
