Wow, man! This hit me hard! I had to stop playing my violin for awhile due to several reasons, but I have gotten back into playing it. I agree, if you have to take a break or switch to another instrument, do it! Just remember that the music really is inside of you and you can always start again or start something else! Glad you stuck with your oboe! That knowledge will always follow you wherever you go!
Is there any reference concerning the fingerings in addition to the well known Vaele/Mahnkopf book? The examples you gave look much clearer (but the above mentioned book tries to include additional information about the multiphonics such as stability, noise etc). In general, I try only to "fix" the most important/ base note, describe some intentions (dense,, light, noisy, ...) and leave the rest to the instrumentalist. Does that sound reasonable?

So I'm confused. Should the spine have actual bark on it or not? None of my teacher's reeds' spines have bark on them, but I didn't see you remove any bark from the spine itself (could have been the camera angle though).
No bark on the spine when ur done for sure, the knife stays out of the middle to make a spine but incidentally takes the bark off as you scrape the initial scrape
I love this so much! Ferling Etude 12!!!!!! Just finding good recordings is so challenging. During COVID if i could confidently do 12, I knew I wasn't slacking off. If I cannot do it confidently after warming up, know it's time to buckle down. There are a couple in Gillet as well that I use as my check in. Thank you for publishing your performance.

Hi Danny. Everything is in tune on my l’oree Royal oboe except the middle E is a little sharp. Do you know how to adjust this? Low E is fine. I tried the same reed on my old l’oree oboe and the middle E is fine.

hey ciao danny i just decided to get my brother's old oboe out here and you are a terrific teacher coach! I kept at the whole tute and guess what I finally got it with the 3 notes playing. the mouthing with the reed is so the most difficult with the armbature or air flow but yes, I am going to follow these tutes, thanks!

@@OboeFiles It is a rosewood Full conservatory oboe, no cracks thank goodness. I managed to get C, B natural, A, Ab, and G however the Bb is way out of tune, it is almost a step up sounds like a C now. Plus the lower joint completely wont work. Any suggestions I just got this oboe yesterday and it worked fine until when I played it again yesterday night it completely did not work.
@@OboeFiles I found out what was the problem i dont know how to fix it though.. by the A key there are two screws literally right next to each other one on the left and one on the right, when i hold the C, A, G and F# key in the front, I push the left screw and it has more room to go up which makes it be able to produce the low notes. but when i dont hold it down it falls down a tiny bit and no sound comes out.
