Hello , congratulations for your hymac vidéos. I had one 370c that i ramdomly bought to build my house. I did not know that brand but it was the only Backhoe i could afford. I spent many hours on it as well as beneath it. Had to rebuild the ford engine , injection pump, alomost all the pistons seals and hoses, electricity tyres, lights and so on. Finally i sold it after 10 years and 4000 h of work. And i bought as a backhoe replacement. Another 370c 😅😅 but that have been totally rebuilt by on old passionate mechanic. These backhoes are really toughly built and the ford 3 cylinders allows to work long hours without drinking too much. Each time i am seen driving this 48 years old english machine i arise people curiosity. Here in the south of France only Case and Jcb rule. What a pity this brand disappeared, a 4wd 570c would have been a best seller.( Fai like) Regards from France.

Thank you for your comments, it made us laugh when you say you spent many hours beneath it🤣they are very good machines and the operating position for the backhoe is very comfortable for its build year, we rebuilt the 3 cylinder Ford after it was parked up for 6 years, unfortunately we had not started the channel then and did not video the rebuild but it was the start of the “maybe people will watch what we do!” It is a shame that the once popular Hymac brand is no more but with people like yourself memories live on, stay tuned to the channel we have some good content coming up, greetings from Le Pays de Galles🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Thanks for the videos on the KH41. I have the identical machine that has a ROPS vs a cab. My machine is in use on a regular basis. I purchased it used in 2006 with 2600 hours on the clock and it now has.just about 4700 hours. It appears your engine is worth saving even for another application. There is so much rust and determination on the machine it may be beyond restoration. I live in Nova Scotia , Canada and cold starts have never been an issue but cold starts need glow plugs year round. I can still get parts from Kubota including final drive. New tracks easy to get so I’ll keep the machine as long as it goes to work, it will probably outlive me and I am 83.

I have a Kubota RTV 900 with a slightly larger 3 cylinder engine that also also gives excellent service but it is younger in hours. I have 2 Yanmars in my John Deere tractors and they also give reliable cold weather service but are the youngest engines I have. What a great video. Thanks for putting your time into it and working your own 370C. Looking at your 370C a few parts there we used to supply to HY-MAC. The rear bucket linkage, the stabilizer feet and the stiffener gussets welded into the rear wheels. On the 580C we drilled out the mounting holes on the counterweight. As it was cast of scrap metal, not an easy job. Pilot holes and patience to get it done. I didn’t realize until this video that the POWERFAB is a 125W, earlier than the 125WT. It had its own trailer. It would be interesting to know the machine number. The 125WT as the logo says has a trailer built in to the design. My sisters grandson was at the show, just 4 years old looking at all the machines especially the POWERFAB , as his great grandfather and his 3 brothers owned the company. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇺🇸

At some point it's obvious you'ld check the radiator for water if you're going to run it.
@allenmkent9141
@allenmkent9141 2 месяца назад
The first thing you do on a diesel engine that turns but hasn't been started for awhile is open the oil pan plug to check for water in the crankcase. Then you check and free up the injector rack to prevent a runaway engine if it does start. 3rd you pull the valve cover, push down hard with your hand on each valve spring to see if the valves are moving. If one is stuck, spray some lubricant and hit it with a hammer until it recoils. Then work it until it's free. Next check the fuel filter, clean any gunk from it with diesel or a cleaner, fill it up before installing it. Drain the fuel tank or set up a temporary tank then flush the lines, and bleed the air to the filter. Pull the oil filter and rinse that out. Check air filter. Check all the electrical connections, wires to the starter, alternator and ignition. Hook up the battery, turn it over and bleed the injector lines until there are no more bubbles. Most people stop bleeding them as soon as they see fuel come out and tighten them back up leaving them still full of air. If it does not start right up, pull the injectors and check them for a good spray. Clean them and an engine will run if it has compression. that can be checked when the injectors are out. I enjoy watching these startup videos but the guys who don't follow a proper troubleshooting procedure waste video time cranking an engine over and over without any result and washing the cylinders with starting fluid. Be an efficient mechanic, don't bore and irritate your audience with a bunch of chatter. Mechanicing is very rewarding when done properly. If an engine is frozen with rust, tear it apart. Impatience is not in the vocabulary of a proper mechanic.

@driveheronman4304
@driveheronman4304 3 месяца назад
@@RustNRestoration yes its for when conditions are in the negatives it allows engine speed to increase as compression can be lost with piston ring shrinkage batteries generally lose strength in the negativs also and struggle to swing the engine fast enough to atomizer diesel. Summer use of decompression leavers would be when a battery is low or if you have trouble bringing fuel from the injector pump to the injectors this saves not only the battery but prevents starting motor failure
@driveheronman4304
@driveheronman4304 3 месяца назад
You will need that compression lever full close for the cylinder to ignite, use a grips and wd40.. ether should not be used unless you have multiple bad injectors. this older model engine heavily depends on a 12 second long glow.
@RustNRestoration

Brilliant thanks for taking time to explain👍 I remember decompression levers on the old dumpers and I was told not to stop them on the decompression, makes sense on what you explain, less strain on the engine and it will turn over faster, will try it when we revisit👍

@@RustNRestoration no worries lad just a side note on the lister and petters engines it didn't do the engine any harm because the valves could never interfere with the piston the only reason old boys said that was because the flywheel on them engines was the weight of 3 bingo woman and didn't stop spinning for 5 minutes so the lever would fall back down by itself when you walked away from it and reignite , if this was on a hoist or a winch with that engine back in the day that was fatal as they had a hand clutch normally engaged, unless information😅

The Original had twin wheels with 215 R80 22.5 tyres. I suppose it’s worth the work so long as you don’t need to MOT it. Finding all the parts to get them through is so hard and expensive. So many air leaks. Not just the brakes. The chassis number is on a plate behind the front grille as well as the axle weights. Anyhoo good luck

That’s a cracking 370C. These machines were underrated in their day. She sounds sweet enough. Doesn’t look as if she needs to much work to be respectable and visit shows. I worked for a company that made many parts for that 370 as well as 580s and others. The feet, bucket linkage and rear wheel strengtheners were provided for that machine. Takes me back a few years. Lots of stories how the 370s came into production but it could have been many years earlier. We used to transport the skids- engine, gearbox and drive axle in from Fords at Dagenham. As a teenager I spent many a Saturday morning in HY-MAC and later in life also. It was a great place to learn about diggers. I was very fortunate to know many people who worked there 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇺🇸

I think you will find that machine is probably from around 1990 or later. They started the 1200 with the Honda and Kubota engines in 87/88. They had a cracking 180C that came out in 88 also. I buy in last year Hymac 370c Whitlock 1977 with Perkins 3P. Although it has a rusted floor and cab, scarred hoses plus a few minor things. The hydraulic control for this year is brilliant, leaving other designs behind. Therefore, i wants to do what I can in this condition and then I take it for a decent restoration. It is nearly 50 years old and no overhaul before, I want to keep it because it feels old decent engineering and mechanics. Great machine. I'm just wondering whether to try to improve it by retrofitting, for example, a compressor and an air seat, installing LED lights, or try to stick with the original.
