The Hymac sprung a leak on the backactor! As always with these old machines a simple task turned into an ordeal with a seized pin.
This is just 1 method of removing a frozen pin when access allows...
We hope you enjoy, Stay tuned for a part 2 of this where we re assemble the cylinder.

Hello , congratulations for your hymac vidéos. I had one 370c that i ramdomly bought to build my house. I did not know that brand but it was the only Backhoe i could afford. I spent many hours on it as well as beneath it. Had to rebuild the ford engine , injection pump, alomost all the pistons seals and hoses, electricity tyres, lights and so on. Finally i sold it after 10 years and 4000 h of work. And i bought as a backhoe replacement. Another 370c 😅😅 but that have been totally rebuilt by on old passionate mechanic. These backhoes are really toughly built and the ford 3 cylinders allows to work long hours without drinking too much. Each time i am seen driving this 48 years old english machine i arise people curiosity. Here in the south of France only Case and Jcb rule. What a pity this brand disappeared, a 4wd 570c would have been a best seller.( Fai like) Regards from France.

Thank you for your comments, it made us laugh when you say you spent many hours beneath it🤣they are very good machines and the operating position for the backhoe is very comfortable for its build year, we rebuilt the 3 cylinder Ford after it was parked up for 6 years, unfortunately we had not started the channel then and did not video the rebuild but it was the start of the “maybe people will watch what we do!” It is a shame that the once popular Hymac brand is no more but with people like yourself memories live on, stay tuned to the channel we have some good content coming up, greetings from Le Pays de Galles🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Thank you, this one caused some head scratching and lateral thinking, maybe if we hadn’t used the pecker it may have drifted out after the copious amount of heat we used first had cooled down and shrunk the bond between the pin and boss, thanks for your continued support👍

I enjoyed this video. Only ever saw one of those hymacs once, it drove past my school back in the mid 80s. Never saw one again. 3C / 3CX were way more common down here in the London area. Definitely post longer video's if you can, its great viewing. Top lads. 👌👍

Thanks Jim, I think they were more prominent here in Wales as they were built in Rhymney, Gwent. Ironic in a way as the company they took over were Whitlock who were in Great Yeldham Essex and moved operations to the valleys after purchasing them, thanks for your kind comment and continued support👍

I get my seals from Sealmaster Tremorfa Cardiff . Good quality and good price . I did my JCB with them. I also had a tight pin issue . Gas axe sorted the problem. I have drifts and dollys if you get stuck, just pop down the house

Got them from sealmaster for the slew rams Martyn but they had to cobble something together and we think they are starting to leak, the proper seals were obtained from Hymac Parts

Glad you got the pin out, something We've found for preventing seizing in the future is Grannit chainlube spray in that it flows very easily into tight spaces but then sticks like sh*t to a blanket (it's not bad for gluing gaskets in place almost like contact adhesive when it's "tacked off"), it;s very similar to Wurth HHS but very cheap (in dozen boxes about £2 a can), it's also good as an assembly lube as it doesn't wash off easily.

@@RustNRestoration Yeah, getting them pins out can be a nightmare of a job, having seen how you did yours gonna try to persuade my boss to try and pick up one of those petrol disc cutters (Stihl TS 350,360 or 400 or Partner or Makita) when he's at the auctions.

23:28 This guy doesn't even know how to use a spanner, he puts the spanner on the nut and turns it about 30 degrees, WTF. Turn it as far as it will go, you make us Welsh look like numpties.
@RustNRestoration
@RustNRestoration 8 месяцев назад
For good reason.... First turn was to crack the joint and relieve any pressure in the line. Basic measures when working with hydraulics. Following that the threads were binding. Working it a little at a time allows hydraulic oil to seep into the threads and act like a release agent 👍
