Mixing sub and spawn is not a steril process. You dont need to clean anything or use gloves........ If you dont belive me ask RR. If you dont know who RR is you shouldnt be growing.
@@RealSimpleMushrooms Awesome! Will that filter patch suffice for air exchange? A friend of mine told me to never fully seal jars because its probable it can burst in the PC. I'm wondering if the filter patch mitigates that risk
So after I build them I’ll run them through my dishwasher on the sanitize setting then I will put them in a mushroom grain bag and PC them for 60 min at 15psi. I will leave them in the bag until I’m ready to use them.
although grafting tape seems to work, parafilm has a much better gas permeability (estimated 10-fold for oxygen and 5-fold for CO2). And even if your roll is old, with a bit of practice it still can be stretched without tearing, especially if you only need to stretch in one direction. I am still using my roll which I bought almost 20 years ago! The problem with the plates sticking together only occurs when you use strips for sealing that are too wide and wrap around the top and/or bottom of the plates. I seal each standard petri dish with a 0,5" x 2" (12,5 mm x 50 mm) piece of parafilm. This way the plates can breathe very well without drying out, the plates don't stick together and the cost for sealing one plate is below 1 cent.
Very interesting, does that stopcock leak over time? That'd be my only concern because if it doesn't stay air tight at all times gravity will pull the liquid down and draw in dirty air
Hello my friend. I am an experimental mushroom researcher from Iran. I found much simpler ways than you, which increases the speed of your work in the production of mushrooms, especially in the stage of making agar plates and sowing seeds, as well as in the production of mushrooms. These methods are used for both types of food and medicine and magic. I have many achievements in this field that are rarely mentioned anywhere. For example, the effect of the type of seed on the fertility and the creation of mushroom contamination, or the formation of hybrid and hybrid breeds, I mean the integration of mushroom breeds with each other and the creation of breeds that did not exist until now.I think I am creative and thoughtful in this field and I have a personality to communicate. I am looking for friends like me who are curious like me. Let's learn and teach from them
I do fine with the fruiting blocks I make, but I have a hard time beating contamination when running monotubs. Always end up with green mold at the edges, I think from to much condensation maybe?
Sir I have been using a mushroomsupplies dung loving mush bag with syringe. Today 6.27 .24 I currently have two spots of mycelium in the center both spots 2.5 in. By 5 in. I'm assuming I wait longer before I smash. I was going to do the rubber band method but can't. I figure I use the perlite bottom and foil inside the tub.... how much humidity does it need after the smash up of substrate. I will have a tub about that size. And would like info on conditions. I have it currently outside . The bag inside the tub when humidity is 80 % or higher then I bring it into my bathroom where there is no ac and hit the shower few times a day back and forth. I'm just looking for advice on after the smash if I need to keep it covered. Lighting etc. Thanks. I may be over thinking it.
I'd really like to see some more videos from you! They're really informative and they make everything much simpler. Hopefully you continue with this channel
That does nothing, it’s not light that creates side pins it’s the high CO2 environment that’s created in the gap between the tub and the cake as it shrinks. The liner shrinks with the cake preventing those side pins
Broski, your channel is GOLDEN! Glad I found it. Thank you for keeping it straightforward and easy to follow. Excited to watch your channel BOOM while I follow along and apply myself. Thanks again for sharing!
What is the correct size drill bit for this? I ordered the one from the list above and it's a huge drillbit that is much bigger than yours.. just letting everyone know and wondering which is the exact size to order? Thank You
You can spray down the inside of your tub with hydrogen peroxide, before inserting your liner, and the surface tension will hold the liner in place…no need for tape.
The links to the parts are serious time savers, and the knowledge to build these extraction lids myself is a serious money saver. You have done us all such a great service with the concise, excellent little video. Thank you very much!
Hi I’ve been using these lids a couple times now and they’re the dream. Just wondering if it would still be sterile to refeed through liquid culture through the luer lock with PC liquid culture solution syringes? Or have you already tried this?
I bought the same 20qt tubs, do you always put 3lbs substrate to 1.5lbs spawn in each tub? I’ve been trying to figure out the right amount but can’t seem to figure it out.
Why do you need the soil? Or why is it better? Cause some companies sell these ready-to-use GrowKits without soil, only pure grain and they are growing good. Is the yield better, or?
@NikuKashi they will grow on just grains but remember that mushroom are around 90% water. The soil is there to provide moisture, so while yes they will grow just on grain, you won’t get a great flush.
@@RealSimpleMushrooms yeah I’ve analysed your methodology here and it’s really well thought through. With the 6mm ID on the silicone tubing it’s evening amazingly well suited for SSLC, take a peep if you haven’t already come accross it ;)
Those pp5 lids are not pressure cook safe, I just built this exact setup 25 minutes in the pressure cooker deformed and melted the lid. Gotta buy another pack now😢 other than that I’m excited to try out once I get some more
