Hi, I'm Darren. Welcome to my channel. This started off as a man with RC quads and planes, learning to fly RC. A few years have passed since then, and now I'm sharing things to help others do the same. So here you will find a lot of tutorials and some reviews. If this channel helps new RC pilots get in to the air, that's a win in my book.
I fly pretty much fixed wing only now. But I enjoy all forms of fixed wing that I've tried so far; including Line of Sight, FPV, and slope soaring. They are all excellent, so give them a try if you haven't yet. The quads don't even get a look in anymore..
I am happy to review fixed wing RC relevant products. If you represent a company that would like a review, please contact me with the email link below, or through my web site. Please note that I will always review a product honestly, and fairly. I will highlight bad points as well as the good, as my first priority is to the RC pilots watching the video.
I'm having an issue: when I deploy my flaps during flight to start the landing procedure the newly generated lift from the flaps makes the plane go completely nose up. How can i combat this so when i deploy flaps the plane stays level?
Thanks for video Darren but I'm still not sure about if I loose rc link during waypoints mission, if set to resume will it continue mission? I know older inav versions I would do set failsafe_ mission = off. Thanks again
Love your videos, my and my son who is 12 are starting this hobby. I love the idea of a demo plane, would you be kimd enough to tell we where to get the files so i can either laser cut or 3D print it.
Hey Darren great video as always, I have to say the CM setting drive me nuts but anyway in inav 6.1.1 mission control I've tried changing from metric to imperial but it stays on the metric system, maybe I'm missing something?does that need changed somewhere else? Thanks
Hi Darren Nice work explaining the binding process..I have a question ? i am using X6R on a Horis X10 firmware is V2.10 for rx and tx works fine on the Horus X10.I want to use the same recevers on my new Tandem X 18 but can not bind them is it because the tandem firmware is not the same as the V2.10. In the tandemX18 Currantly in the internal module as TD-ISRM FW V2.2.6. any help would be appreciated. Cheers Kosta
@@siskojuice1 do you have a mismatch of firmware? They should both either be LBT (EU) or FCC. If you have the flex firmware on the transmitter. You still need to set the region correctly.
Hi Darren thank you for your help I just realised what was wrong it was a mismatch of firmware I have re flashed the receiver with ACCST v2.1.0 FCC and all binds ok on the Tandem X18 Cheers Kosta
Hi Darren. Thanks for the informative video. Your channel is great! I do have one query: Can the 2 Rx be paired to different Transmitters (let's say like a buddy-system), and can we choose which Rx to use as the main Rx while in flight?
Have you noticed that the TW receiver output (-100%) is much lower than some ESCs 0 input? Calibrating doesn't really work as the ESCs seem to turn on at 1150us PWM and the -100% for Frsky TW is <1000us.
Hi thanks for this great video, you saved a lot of time. I have a problem and I cant find any solution in the web, when I plug my T16S MKII in USB mode usually in windows pop up 2 windows, 1 with sd card content and a 2nd one with 2 files inside. After I updated the edge to the latest firm the second window with the 2 files doesn't pop anymore and I don't know why and how I can fix it. can you help me?
Great video i have one question if you have a problem with the mission if you just turn the waypoint switch off on your radio then does everything go back to normal flight and you have complete control?
I am trying to get telemetry data from a chain of SBus sensors (GPS, flight battery current sensor, etc.) through my TD SR6 to my X20 HD. My question is: where do I plug in the head of the chain connector and where in Ethos do I configure the string as SBus. I notice that if I touch the RX1 TDSR6 in the RF System page, I get some tantalizing options, but I can't figure out the details. Any help would be appreciated...
These sensors are usually SmartPort (or FBUS). So they should daisy chain together. Then plug in to the SmartPort (S.Port) connection on your receiver. Then on the transmitter you’d just need to discover new sensors on the telemetry menu.
You should be able to assign one of those ports to SPort. It will be in the receiver options. With the SR6 it’s on the white connector on the top. From the left, you have - + S. S is the SPort connection.
Hi, great tutorial as usual!!! Many thanks. Quick question: I've Frskytelemetry which works great but I can't manage to get telemetry logs. In the CSV file I see the columns heathers related to telemetry but with no data. What am I doing wrong??? Thanks
Let’s say I’m using a 6 channel receiver and all the channels are used up .. but I need extra channels can I use redundancy as a way of adding extra channels to use ?
Darren; I'm wondering if I can use two TD R10 receivers with the X20. I've been told that that the TD receivers are the best Frsky has for a big gasser. If one is good, two must be better. As always, thank you so much for your help.
Does this mean that I have been effectively flying with a throttle cap of 1850 using default INAV fixed wing settings? Could I expect to see more rpms at the motor after changing this to 2000?
I never used gyros either .. however how many jet jockeys do you know that don’t use gyros? Not to mention helicopter pilots. I use them now, I’m 75 by the way, on all my EDF jets. Some of my slower planes I don’t use them at all. My thoughts are if something makes it easier to do then maybe we will have more people in the hobby flying. Quit being that I’m better than you because I don’t use them guy. It’s not becoming.
Merci d'avance
JIS is a must when working on Japanese and some Chinese machines and especially motor bikes. . BTW I fell across your channel when searching for info on another subject. As a retired pro presenter of many many years, now aged 72, I am really impressed by your presentation style. It took me years to get to your level of quality. It’s not as easy as some would imagine.
@@MrD Riddle me this, MrD: I have two of these, one in a Mario 5 quad, the other in a Penguin. They're both 4S builds, very well ventilated (the back of the quad frame, and on top of the canopy, respectively). And they both run so hot I can cook a tiny egg (quail?) on 'em - at standby power! Aside from a Cooler Master liquid cooling loop, what can I do to lower temps?
Help required urgently!! I have ruined my content on my sd card How can I put a totally new Ethos on it, so that I can use my transmitter again, I will of course loose all my models but i don't mind that I just want to start as if the x20s is new. Thank you.
I have a frsky qx7 remote control. I have a r9satb ota receiver. I need to turn off the stabilization feature of my receiver. Can you explain by making a video?
Hi Darren; thank you for that explanation. My Question. I have a spectrum 18 and I am very comfortable with it. Before I invest into this FrSky transmitter, is there a channel reassign feature where you can use other channel ports for different options on the aircraft like canopy open/close, speed brakes and so on?? You did not talk about what you can do with the transmitter unless you have that on a different video.
There are no real specific channels on this system. I remember back on an old Spektrum there was a switch on the transmitter labelled flaps, one labelled gear. And they were associated with specific channels. With this system you have more freedom. You can have any switch for any function and set that function to whatever channel you want.
Im having issues with my avatar vtx. OSD is being displayed fine i just have no camera feed. .6mbps bitrate. Im not aure whats going on. Also slow green flash on vtx indicates a camera fault issue? Brand new vtx however i accidently ripped a solder pad off so im using the connector
Hi Darren, thanks for this video. I have a question re telemetry while using 2 independent Rx's. I have an Archer R4 controlling rudder, eleveator and throttle. I also have an Archer GR6 controlling 6 wing servos. These are not providing redundancy but acting independently. Everything I want in terms of servo function is perfect but I want to be able to use the altitude & vario sensors of the GR6 and the ADC2, for battery voltage, of the R4. When I look at the Tx telemetry page I can see the sensors, and, within each sensor, it indicates which receiver this relates to but this is greyed out and so cannot be changed. I'm currently running Ethos 1.4.13.
I need help. I just got a walksnail VTX & VRX and have FW updated, with sneaky_fpv fonts loaded, I have video feed (I can see) it shows walksnail OSD, Not Inav OSD. Watched this and other videos and it's not working.
Make sure the sneaky font is in a userfont folder on the SD card. They changed that a while back. When you download the firmware. I believe there is an example userfont folder that you can check out.
