My name is Barry lambert from Newfoundland, Canada. This will mainly be videos of me driving, fixing/customizing my 1957 Chevy 3100 with a turbo LS and manual transmission, and my wife’s 2002 Cadillac Escalade.
As far as I remember the corrosion on the contacts put extra load on the fuse and caused it to blow. I cleaned up the contacts and put some dielectric grease on it and didn’t have any issues after
@@StationroadRatrods you’re going to do a video of it running when he gets it installed right. I’ve never actually saw a carbed LS before, other than high dollar production shows.
Desperado said step aside, I’ll bore my self out to a 5.7 lol. Oil turns black from burned hydrocarbons/combustion volatiles that shneaaak past the rings. Worn or tired rings allow that to happen extra extra fast. I change my oil every 1k-1.5k MILES and it’s still amber in color. The old 5.3 might need some love before it goes into the rat rod.
I'll be following buddy. Long time no comments from me. Just got back from a cleets event here in conneticut. I kinda want my 2011 with a cable. Even with throttle body adjustments through hp tuners it just isn't as snappy as I would like
@@StationroadRatrods I never owned one, but I’ve driven a few big block trucks. Mostly work trucks like dump trucks, or wreckers, and stuff. Had a friend with a 454SS truck. But I hear they work great in lots of stuff…mowers, yammies, helicopters, 😁
@@StationroadRatrods Welcome to my world , I need more me ( my ) time . I have a lot of cool junk , 671 blowers , turbos , blow through carbs , engines , transmissions that need to be pressure tested 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah it happens to a car you love to play with. My trucks been down since last April cause of a busted brake line which still isn't done😂 Long story short I lowered it 2" front 4rear, added Denali front clip doors, Escalade lift gate, third brake lite spoiler all new suspension all 4 corners. Bought new lower rockers for both side (not installed yet.) Escalade dash and wood wheel, bought new touchscreen with backup camera. Last.... new interior lights BLUE IN DOORS aftermarket headlights, turn lights, n fog lights. Oh found the gas tank strap is broken. Man oh man
Oh man this takes me back to my teenage years. Me and a good buddy of mine decided to shoehorn v8s in our mini trucks. I had a 85 gold s10 long box and he had a 91 ford ranger. He obviously went with a 302 and a bigger ford transmission out of a crown Vic. And I went with the 350 and a 700r4 because I was doing a lot of freeway driving to get to work. Both trucks were a hoot we were always doing John Force burnouts in front of each other’s houses. Gosh those were the days. It’s crazy we both ended up making 1500 bucks when we decided to sell them. Another thing we both found to be quite interesting was the gas mileage. Every single old guy would say why are you doing that ???? Your just defeating the purpose of owning those trucks. Your gas mileage is going to go down the tubes. But in all honesty in both the Ford and Chevy our gas mileage wasn’t all that bad. If we would have just put a small 2 barrel on them the fuel mileage would have been probably the same as the 6 bangers that originally came in them.
Barry seriously thanks for pointing out that small detail. Now the real question appears stick with my original plan and just do the in frame delete. OR pull it and do everything
@@StationroadRatrods i kinda do and don’t have good oil pressure. I have that problem where it will be 40+ pounds but then drops to like 25 once it gets to temp. Zero ticking smooth as silk when running through. Part of me believes that’s because of the sending unit. The one time I didn’t charge the oil at 3000 miles. And let it get to 10% on the oil change timer it started doing that once it gets hot crap. I have a bore camera I’m definitely going to check each bearing.
This was the only cluster I have that had the transmission oil temp gauge, I’ll need that when I get the converter in. Definitely would have been easier if that wasn’t the case
Are you on eastern time ... Or even farther east than that ? 'Cause I'm up at 3 and 4 in the morning ( central time) except sunday , making comments and you're right there.
@@StationroadRatrods Ok, I looked that up and it just goes to show ya that no matter how old ya get, you can always learn something. I am in the central time zone ( of America) which is 6 hrs. Past GMT, Newfoundland is at 3.5 hrs. Past GMT, that make you 2.5 hrs. Ahead of me. Now, it's the .5 hrs. That I didn't know aboot . Lol.
Hey bud! You can take a worm gear clamp and put around the metal shell that that bushing fits in and take out all the slop of that design. FREE upgrade!
What if you bolt it onto the engine and start it and while it spins 800rpm you sand it on the spot or even file it ilI know its little dangerous but if you bolt it properly its not going anywhere
I’m very excited to get in there. I wasn’t going to touch the trans until a little bit later, but I’m worried the 6.0 with the converter will make the stock 60e unhappy
Do you know if the VE table will have the same resolution on the p59 as the 0411 pcm has? I helped my buddy tune his DBW truck the other day and there was very little, it wasn’t easy to fine tune
@@StationroadRatrods thanks will do, what are you working on today? I never know what you'll post next. You got more projects than me. Lol keep up the good work.
@@StationroadRatrods proved my point, I worked on the transmission but the weather is so nice and it's my weekend so I'm hanging with my bois/dogs and the wife. Don't work too hard my friend.
100% agree that the boost should be 8 psi at the turbo and 8 psi at the manifold, but wouldn’t the intercooler act as a bottleneck if its restrictive? If you read my first comment I had no idea it was you Glen lol stupid RU-vid handles.
You need an ecu,and a gauge for boost. Once the ecu is dialed in, you'll know how much boost to use. A waste gate is used to release back pressure that's not being used.
With the fuel we have around here (91 octane at best) I’ve found I can run a max of 15 psi with about 12 degrees of timing without breaking pistons. I’d like to have the most stable boost pressure possible so it doesn’t spike, and also the most accurate so I don’t overboost it
@StationroadRatrods you need to take it to a Dino and have them adjust your ecu, fuel, boost, and timing. I have a honda Civic, and I'm using a hondata ecu. Your ecu is the most important part, if your not going to run one, you can have major failure.
@onepunch9485 I’m familiar with tuning with boost, I have had a boosted truck and have been tuning it myself for three years now, I use hptuners. I was asking a question about the placement of wastegate hoses
