I'm using Magda for my Cedh deck, but I'm still new to the format. Can anyone tell me why Twinshot Sniper of all things keeps showing up in Magda decks? I can't see how it's worth anything.
After more than a year of experience, I can't stress this too much: Dimir Terror is NOT a control deck - it's a tempo deck. It wants to play Terrors and Gurmag Anglers FAST and beat down while running efficient answers to opponents' stuff - it SUCKS at grindy gameplay although that may break intuition. There's not enough card draw to grind in UB Terror, other decks such as flicker tron and jeskai ephemerate will just run over by blinking a mulldrifter or by doing some other shit. I tried to run my terror deck as a control deck at first - that turned out to be a mistake. Don't fall into this misconception yourself
PS. Ok, maybe it's fine in the control role in many matchups, have seen it outgrind things like golgari gardens often. But it's still nowhere near these true control decks in the format
It doesn't matter what mill cards you have with Phenax - if your play style doesn't embody "deception" as suggested in his name, you will never consistently win with mill. I built my deck out of stupid recycled cards - my only direct mill card is Traumatize and other little one's like Glimpse the Unthinkable. My creatures don't even make sense - I have things like Pitiless Plunderer, Selloff Occulist, Aetherblade Agent - they are so weak nobody pays attention to me, and I don't even use the tap ability that Phenax to not draw aggro. Instead, I just pump out group hug kards like Kami and Howling mine to make people happy and draw lots of cards and empty their libraries. And because I barely have anything on the board, they don't target me. Even if they do, I have Gary and other lifegain spells, and Phenax of course is indestructible. You let people kill each other off, and then strike with your perfectly cultivated hand of Bruvac, Consuming Aberration, Nighthowler, Mind Grind etc. and mill them out. The most important thing is to have a few critical things to survive incase somebody does swing a bigwig at you, like return permanents to their hands cards and lifegain spells.
Orvar got me into EDH, and he has been my main squeeze since day 1. I played in a pod that hadn't seen him before and how crazy he can get on the stack, and people were asking me how that was allowed to be printed
I'm new to Pauper so my question might sound ignorant but why are so many Pauper decks running this few lands? And what's the reason behind running only 2 red sources from lands? I understand that the deck runs a lot of green ramp but doesn't it still make it quite inconsistent for your non-green mana generation?
Way back in the before times, when EDH was still "Battlecruiser Magic", some of my decks were: Daretti, Scrap Savant Mayael the Anima Omnath, Locus of Mana Sharuum the Hegemon The Mimeoplasm The "modern" commanders I've played most are Kenrith, the Returned King, and... Selvala, Heart of the Wilds Teferi, Temporal Archmage Thrasios-Tymna
I don't play casual decks, because I don't like to play 3 hour games of Commander where everyone is tired, annoyed and looking for the game to be over for the last 10 turns. That is why I play cEDH. That and the fact that cEDH is basically just singleton Vintage without Power 9 and as a combo player I find Vintage to be very enjoyable. Plus I play exclusively online now so I can actually afford to play whatever I want.
I'm pretty sure the construct is legendary (if you copied a legendary artifact) and if you had two warforms out (from doubling the copy trigger or making a copy of the warform) you would need to sac one
@@tinopieper4222 I was commenting on this @0:33 where he says the copy is not legendary but it is and if you have two legendary warforms then the legendary rule applies
Such a cool deck! One part you missed is though is Maskwood Nexus makes the "dragons" part of Magda viable. For example if I have Maskwood in play. I've generated infinite treasure. I can now search for any creature because all my creatures are dragons now. So you could grab Xorn,a Dwarf or something else you're missing. Basically with Maskwood out you can tutor for any creature with Magda
I built this deck as a polymorph combo deck. Basically your partner is Kediss, and if you make creatures like Reckless Fireweaver, Hedron Detonator or Ingenious Artillerist pirates, when Malcom gets through with Kediss on the field all of them win you the game on the spot. I find the modular combo style much more fun and flavorful than "glint horn buccaneer is your combo, rest of the deck is stock cedh combos in color". Just an idea for the people who'd like to exolore this commander in a more unique way! Still, I'm glad you covered him at all, he's super fun to play.
I saw this card and thought that would be cool to make a commander. But seeing this deck, is just looks slow and not fun for anyone to play with. I was expecting a lot of death triggers, this makes more sense but it also makes me sad.
