Oonsday is backyard fun with animals, especially raccoons (oons). I've developed close relationships with these animals over many years, so much so, that they walk into my house. There are plenty of great videos of people feeding raccoons out there. I like to film them being challenged, with fun games and tasks along with a hearty meal of cat food and unsalted peanuts. Occasional cookie and marshmallows too. I introduce puppets and new objects to them weekly. These backyard actors happily work for peanuts and aren't camera shy. Happy Oonsday everyone! Oh, and by the way, everyday is Oonsday but Tuesday. Tuesday is just Tuesday . *NOTE*: I do not encourage feeding or touching of wild animals! If it wasn’t for years of developing trust with my patio pals this footage wouldn’t be smart or possible . Please do not attempt this! Parents are expected to inform children after viewing. *Also- OONSDAY is a licensed logo image and name. Conceived and created by "The Squirrelly One"
Mr.Oons....1 of my racoons was chased my a coyotee last night. I was able to scare the coyotee away & my racoon got away. But when we met back at my house after the attack it was limping & couldnt put its back paw on the ground...I dont know what to do. I googled it & it said if its broken it will not be able to climb. I've looked into a local wild life rehab nearby. But its also bonded with a sibling & these 2 particular racoons do not have a parent. Im afraid #1- if i trap it & bring it to the rehab I will break the trust we've built & #2- im afraid of what will happen to tye other sibling if it now finds itself alone. .I dont want my little 1 to be a sitting duck for the coyotees. I'm just not sure what the right thing to do here is. Google also said if its just a sprain it will heal on its own, it still can climb just not as good. Do y9u have any suggestions on what to do in this situation??
@OONSDAY oh I'm sorry tell Mrs Oons I give my condolences to both of you. Just making sure your ok. Everything is going good on my end. Prayers for the family!
@@OONSDAY OH, I'm sorry. I will continue to support your channel whether you are able to upload vids or shorts often or infrequently. You know I have to live vicariously now! I'm praying for your family during your time of grief.
I'm so sorry for your loss . You told us that your mom said just keep feeding animals and raccoons , don't think about money@@OONSDAY I have never met her but I can say about her that she was kind hearted. Again I'm sorry . Rip grandma
@@OONSDAY I can't give you a thumbs up under the circumstances. I'm so deeply sorry. RU-vid doesn't inform viewers, making it impossible to understand what is happening. Obviously, if I had known, I wouldn't have intruded.
Hi Oon! So good to see these sweet videos of your raccoon family. I know how you love them! Prayers for you and your family, especially your Mom, during this difficult time. Sending love your way! MiMi.
Thank you, Mimi. Our mom has passed on recently, and we are in mourning. She loved watching and feeding the birds and animals. Many times, she watched me handle chipmunks and raccoons in front of her. She was tickled pink by it and laughed. I'll really miss those moments!
Mr Oons, I came to your page to see if there was a recent word from you! I read the comment on your Mother-In-Law and I am so sorry to hear she is not doing well. I wish her peace and will say a prayer for all of you 🙏
Thank you, Belinda. She passed away yesterday after 10 days of home hospice care by us and family. I'm not sure when I'll be making videos again. I appreciate your sincere concern.
Hi Martina 👋. Things are delicate at the moment with my wife and I caring for our mother at home. She's in her last moments and soon will depart. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers please 🙏
Just discovered your channel. Glad to see another great raccoons guardian. Can’t wait to look at all your vids ! Thanx for the care you manage to them ❤👍
Thank you for finding us. I've been blessed to have shared multiple amazing moments with raccoons. If you're interested please check out some older videos of these raccoons in my backyard playing games.
@@OONSDAY Of course I’m gonna scroll yours vids. I’m in France and unfortunatly, no way to encounter raccoons around my place. My dream would be to have a trip in U.S.A and see for real how is it to approach them like guys like you can achive …
@@renedewael9703same here . I also don't have raccoons here in India but I love watching raccoon videos and especially oonsday , that aunty who feed raccoons and mapa the raccoon channel may be raccoonsrescue ( it won't come on search, I don't know why )
Awe! So sweet! Of course they remember you! They’ve known you for generations and they know you are kind. I’m sure they miss you and are very happy when you visit them in the park. (Regarding hunters “baiting” so they can later kill the animals- I’ve always thought this was horrible.). Thank you for being kind to our little animal friends! ❤️🦝🐾❤️
I just adore all wildlife and raccoons are especially fascinating to me. I can tell that you're a really caring person! Wild animals don't automatically get along with humans, just because they're being fed by them. That gang you have, are very trusting of you and their intuition is very keen, so if they let you touch them and interact with them, it's because they feel a bond or kinship with you. This summer a mama raccoon started coming to my backyard balcony along with 5 of her little ones. I was feeding them dry cat food but then I read online that it's not a good idea. I learned that dog food is much better for them, so I've been feeding them that since I found out. I'm going to buy them some nuts but I was wondering if you know what I could feed them to fatten them up for winter, that won't cost me too much? The babies have grown quite a bit over the summer but 2 out of the 5 are much thinner, so I'd like to make sure they get what they need to survive this coming winter here in Québec, Canada. Our temperatures can often plummet to -28° Celsius, so they've got a rough season ahead! Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks, Cat 🦝💜🩶🩷
Thanks for the questions. Regardless of what you feed them they will also forage naturally and fatten up. My 3 go to foods in order of use was: dog food, peanuts (no salt, shelled or unshelled), and vanilla cookies for dessert. Unfortunately I was forced by city officials to stop all feeding. Please consider your neighbors concerns and local laws as you proceed. They respond to kindness and are incredibly polite in return.
We were gone 2weeks. I loaded up the gravity feeder and put out big bowls of food. We have been home 3 days. All the raccoons are gone, other than a mom and her baby. Looks like the opossums are taking advantage and I have counted 3. I can keep this up for awhile but there will have to be a tipping point. The deer on the other hand are pretty much back full strength
Mr oons- do you have any personal experience with opposums??? 1 has made its first vist to my very active wild life yard. Im worried that it might get bullied by the racoons or the skunk. Do you think it wilk be okay??? I just met him for the first time & i'm happy the little fella is here! - yet- im worried about hpw it will interact with the others. Do you think it will be okay?
The opossum will be fine and eventually mingle with the oons and skunks just fine. They won't hurt it. You might see it bare its teeth as a warning only.
Hi Christina -Oh, I’m so glad the little opossum has found your yard and food! He will be just fine, I’m sure! I have a couple of little opossums that visit frequently - usually after the raccoons eat - and they are so sweet. I just love them! Enjoy! ❤
@@OONSDAY You take care of yourself and your family. I will keep you in my prayers. Everyone will be here when you are able to resume your videos. God bless!
@@OONSDAYI hope everything will be fine soon and may creator will shower you with give you and your family good health , happiness and prosperity and everyone will stay well in your family . And don't get depressed about raccoons . They will be fine .
Our pond is completly dried up too... i have the baby pool filled ( only 2 have gone for a swim- the others think its a large water bowl lol- Hey- as long as theyre using it though) and i have 2 other large water bowls in my yard for them. But homezt question- why arent you bringing food? I keep feeding them because i feel like if the water source has dried up- the food source probably has too😢
@@OONSDAY Oh god.... thats awful...Ive said it before & i'll say it again. A community full of animal lovers- kind of like a HOA only full of animal lovers right on the edge of the forest would be perfect. Actually it wpuld be amazing. Like a secret society of people that support wild animals. Thats awful its come to this point.. I wouod be heart broken. Lucky for me i live right next to acres of forest & my neighbours are spaced out- plus we're all Italians so we all mind our own buisness lol
Hi Mr. Oons👋 What a lovely and peaceful video! I'm so happy to hear the relief in your voice that the raccoons are surviving and thriving in the woods! It's very interesting to hear what you see them eating. I hired a wonderful painter to paint my basement gym and all my main living area on the second floor of my house to include the ceilings! They did a remarkable job and were so respectful! I have them coming back to paint my kitchen cabinets! All my raccoons are doing great! It's starting to get dark earlier now, so I put food out for then around 7:30pm and can watch them from my window for about 25 minutes before it gets dark! I'm still putting out dog food, peanuts, cookies, and marshmallows 😃 Have a great night 😊
Two of the three raccoon kits that we were feeding on our backyard last year suddenly came back two nights ago, after having been gone for about six months. It was a heart-warming surprise seeing them all grown up, yet their personalities were still very recognizable! They clearly still remembered my wife and I as we were able to get on the porch with them and toss almonds and dogfood for them.
@@OONSDAY What did you think of Stalker? I consider it a masterpiece of thoughtful cinema - I was able to catch a cinema screening of it here in Portland a few months ago!
Very deep, which I like. I enjoy the banter of different philosophical approaches from the 3 characters. The backdrop and dystopian setting was fascinating!
Hmm, 'Under the Skin' is a bizzare one. 'Russian Ark' is quite the theatrical feat. It was filmed in ONE TAKE! Also: 'Perfume', 'The Lobster', 'Killing of a Sacred Deer', and Nymphomaniac by Lars von Trier - amazing charchter development and storytelling. Thanks for asking.
Good to see you in your happy place and our family of raccoons. I've been taking up floors with dog pee stains. With my cracked knee cap.then i have to put wood flooring down. My knee is doing better than i thought. Them bugs jumping around are probably crickets. Thank you!❤
As you know, we feed a variety of wildlife - squirrels, opossums, skunks, raccoons, deer, and turkeys. We are currently on a 2 week vacation so I have no idea how things will be when we get back. We filled the deer feeder with corn and my husband made a gravity feed for the rest of the group. I’m sure it’s all gone by now, since they don’t understand the words, “pace yourself”. I hope they will come back!
