The aluminum is really thick so pushing was a better method, and time I can push a dent vs glue pulling it, that would be a better method. Glue pulling is primarily for inaccessible damage or in a combo repair with pushing.
Potentially, I’ll be the first to admit I’m more experienced in PDR than paint touch up….plus the customer was planning on handling the paint on his end
I can assure you it’s the same tank…if you look close you can see where I put touch up paint on it. Plus a new tank was 4k and I can promise I didn’t go that route 😂. Thanks for watching, glad you liked the video 👍
I really need to see the damage to give an accurate quote. You can send photos to denthogs@gmail.com and I’ll get you an estimate and our shipping info.
How does this work for double-wall tanks? I've got a Yamaha Bolt with a quarter sized dent in the shape of the piece of gravel it was sitting on after turning sideways on a driveway curve. Crease in the middle like this video. If you can't get to the backside, what's the best thing to pull small dents? I'd rather not bondo and sticker over it. I think clean and simple looks better.
I actually do not believe it’s double walled, in fact, I’ve never seen a double walled tank. I have seen tanks with limited access, but most of them are just hollow inside. Yamaha bolts can have restricted access, but if it’s fuel injected, I think there is a large opening in the bottom. If you want to send me some photos, I can have a look at it for you and see what can be done about it. Propdrofga@gmail.com
A dent that size on a Harley would fall in the $350 to $500 range depending on depth and location. We typically ask for photos and with that can come to a fairly accurate estimate.
Between $1500-$2500 depending on the severity and if parts need to be replaced…..large damage can have a wide range as far as cost goes. It’s more complex than a few door dings so we really need a visual inspection to determine what it needs.
These new sheet metal repair techniques are really amazing. Last year, my car was damaged by hail that was only two months old, and these craftsmen restored it to perfect condition. This is really wonderful. I like !
This video is from six years ago. You can watch newer videos if you want to see more detail on repairs, but I’m pretty sure that the largest portion of that pulled out with a large suction cup or similar device, use your imagination.
I have an old honda trail bike with a dent with a sharp crease in it - bigger but not as extreme - you've given me hope - just bought a PDR kit and it will be my first time attempting pdr (watching lots of videos and learning lots!). thanks!
There are tons of PDR tools in the market…I get mine from Anson PDR tools in TX….if you go on their website I’m sure you’ll see all kinds of similar tools.
