My name is Sophie and I run a lifestyle channel dedicated to slow living and minimalism.
The core message of my slow living and minimalism content is to encourage others to live life more intentionally by slowing down and paying attention to the simple joys of life: the morning cup of coffee, a long walk in nature, a cold shower on a hot summer day. By placing a greater emphasis on these small moments that are often overlooked, I believe we can go through life with a deeper sense of gratitude and fulfillment. Instead of chasing happiness, we can live it.
Love, Sophie

I used to live in areas where the only way to shop was through big box stores. Fortunately I live in an area that those types of stores are too far to get to and I am surrounded by orchards, farms and a lot of local businesses that I can support. It’s very easy where I live to eat locally and find whole, fresh foods in season. We still need the supermarket for certain items but it has probably been over 9 years since I’ve stepped foot into a Costco, Sam’s Club or chain restaurant. I’m very proud of that and like you, wish we could all own enough land to grow our own food and live a more healthy and sociably connected lifestyle.
EVERY day I think how super weird cell phones are. I'm 60 now and I remember long Summer days, riding my bike & eating strawberries, hanging out with friends. I knew I was expected home for lunch and/or dinner, so I would be on time. No phone calls, no cell phone. Nothing but the sounds of nature & my friends laughter. Simplier times, much better times. Most definitely healthier. A wonderful video! 💕💕💕
I agree with you completely, and I’m so glad I’m not the only person feeling this way. Life is very off these days and like you I’m trying to get back to basics food and entertainment wise. Where you live looks beautiful ❤
It's from Japan!I am happy to hear that you had a great time in Japan and immerse yourself into Jp's tea ceremony culture!Thank you for sharing ur nice vlog!:-)
I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. Thank you for putting together this video and expressing what we all feel. Sometimes, it's difficult to put our feelings into words because we've lost the basic skill of communicating our emotions. This video has made my day. ❤
i'm a 17 yrs old girl from the Philippines and i knew your channel eversince i was 15, and i got to say “i'm going to live a life like yours ” oh to have a minimalist, peaceful, and less consumerism life. i really love that. now i own less of material things, i only keep what is important and i invest more in my future, travel more and help more, looking forward to be part in a philantropic groups! thank you so much for your videos! please make moore🍃💛💛
Your correct I’m a Consumer in every sense of the word!! I don’t have to slaughter Animals to eat! I don’t think I could kill an Animal if I had to! I’d have to become a Vegetarian!! 😂😂
Since beginning of time humanity was doomed for disaster. Even just looking back about 200 years ago life was way more harder then today. No running water, no electricity, no efficient transportation, no hospitals, people dying from simple cold or other illness that is very easy curable today. Mothers dying giving birth at home, newborns dying. Woman being treated very poorly and abused every day in many regions.... It was a disaster if you asking me. Today we have to deal with different types of disasters . No matter in what time we live there will be always consequences of our decisions. Each and every day we have to make a choice.
Such valid & much needed thoughts. There is a definite disconnect that is happening in our society. Everyone just lives for the approval received via social media. It’s as if people are chasing the “likes” 24 hours a day. A never ending merry-go-round ride!
This was a breath of fresh air, Sophie. And so very important to consider how we are living in this modern era. My favourite quote: "It's no measure of good health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." I appreciate how you return us to the simple but not small things, the ones that truly matter.
Why do I feel like crying while watching? 🥺 I really resonate the content of your videos. How I wish many people realized the meaning of slow living and deep connection with others. Thank you for your videos which always keeps me grounded. I hope to meet you someday.
back to basics is great. go in the speed of nature, the flow of seasons. no need to rush. just be. and no need to care what others think for your own choices.
How I try to connect to real life: 1) calling instead of texting, 2) watching tv instead of streaming, 3) cleaning my home, 4) reading a physical book, 5) eat out at a full service restaurant 6) quitmy HO job and work in an environment where the nature of the job doesn’t allow HO
“The driver sat in his iron seat and he was proud of the straight lines he did not will, proud of the tractor he did not own or love, proud of the power he could not control. And when that crop grew, and was harvested, no man had crumbled a hot clod in his fingers and let the earth lift past his fingertips. No man had touched the seed, or lusted for the growth. Men ate what they had not raised, had no connection with the bread. The land bore under iron, and under iron gradually died; it was not loved or hated, it had no prayers or curses.” I recently read Grapes of Wrath and found it echoed a lot of the sentiments you discuss in this video. I can recommend it to anyone who resonates with these ideas.
I love this video so much. There are so many good points about modern life, however we have left so many good parts of the past behind. Thank you for this wake up call ... and whole foods are the best way for humans and the planet.
I missed your wisdom. Beautiful video 🍃 I realised how much i love interacting with people. I was ignorant towards my need to socialize bc i always step on the side of my fear and what it wants. But i lose so much opportunities to just have fun that now i can't take it anymore. I isolate myself constantly and that might be the biggest reason why i feel so disconnected. Because when i with people i feel more alive than ever. What's the meaning of life...i don't ask this question with the same fear of unknown anymore. For me it's doing what makes you feel alive. Take courage is one of this. I always have this ticklish but pleasant feeling inside when i think 'what if i would do that? what would happen? i most definitely be happy'. I acknowledge my fear is still there but i do baby steps. And it's so beautiful to see how i'm outgrowing my fears.
We're starting to believe that our human nature is whats slowing us down from achieving an optimum productivity! I loved this message, Sophie and we missed you!😊
It sound like when you're going on a trip and you bring only a few pieces with you for a week or two. When I do that, I feel so relieved, and when I come home, I feel exhausted and anxious because of all the clothes that ate suddenly here again 😅 You make me want to try this challenge!
You presented this in a very positive way. Mahalo. You didn't sound sick to me but I couldn't hear how you feel. 2 weeks in Japan sounds great. I was only there for 7 days a few years back. 2 weeks seems like a good minimum.
Same in Europe. Everything feels like such a worry, expenses have gone up like crazy and it doesn’t feel like things have gone back to normal since the pandemic? I find myself dreaming of the early 90s easy life I had as a child. Books, my bios and my friends. All summer long. Time didn’t exist, we felt so free. I wish I could feel like that as an adult 💕
