30:43 when i insert the faces it doesnt join the two together and insert it as one big face, it inserts the faces individually. How do i fix this? This tutorial is great btw, ive never made this much progress on any character model before. Thanks for this. Ive been seeing it for a while on my home feed but i ignored it because i thought i could sculpt from scratch without blocking out first, which i tried, and failed MISERABLY. Turns out blocking out is actually a really beginner friendly way to go. Im definitely using this approach for future character models
Bran you have earned my subscription. To be fair, you earned it after the first one in this series... But I just am in Awe. 6 years ago I started in blender with the goal of making characters. I gave up on that passion because I couldn't find good learning material that made it make sense for me. You nailed it. Not only did you nail it for character design for me, but so many other aspects. You made sculpting understandable. So much learned here.
Can't like this video enough, I watched the doughnut and chair tutorial form Blender Guru and they were great but I thought It would be way more difficult to make an anime character, now I think it's doable (even though it's only the first part)
Okay I’ve had this problem for weeks now, after you unclip the plane from the face at 3:59 there’s a cut in the video where above the eye it’s not filled in, I currently have that issue how did you get it filled in?
Learning a lot from these (especially because I thought blocking out to have a model to snap to was probably a cheat and would make me worse, yay for holding myself back for years...). I would point out that a better alternative for applying the modifiers, including on multiple meshes at once, is to select those meshes, and then use the "Convert to" command, then converting to mesh. You end up with meshes that have their modifiers applied and can do it while selecting multiple meshes with modifiers too.
UPDATE: Got it solved! The problem was that I scaled the meshes on "object mode" instead of doing it on "edit mode", I did not know it would affect your meshes so drastically, be sure you size your meshes on "edit mode" to avoid problems in the future! Can someone please help? my blender just crashes when it remesh down to 0.00490 as i was trying to follow the tutorial, how can i fix this? 😭😭when i use zbrush it can tolerate multiple voxels without even crashing, what should i do?
I've tried this so many times using other people's approach and I have failed miserably. This is by far the cleanest and most helpful tutorial I've seen and I've been trying this on and off for years. I am only 10 minutes in and I feel like I've learned so much and without losing interest because you stay on topic. Thank you so much. Sincerely.
hey, new to blender but would anybody here be able to explain at 2:32 the cheek side of the head has the verts on the left but are moved to the right later a second ahead? I've been following the method with my own model but i cant find or figure out how to flip the verts to the right without applying the mirror modifier.
@@mamieharris4656 hi! what I did was take a picture of the reference sheet with the snippet tool on my computer, right click then press ‘Save as’, and save to one of the files you can see on the blender options (For example, I saved mine to 'Pictures'). Shift A, Image reference, then grab the picture from said file. :)
Goku's characteristics and the overall Dragon Ball style perfectly captured in 3D. Truly a hard thing to achieve, but you did it! Awesome job, I just learned a lot from this!
i was just listening to splatoon music, i pause it to listen to this video and i got super confused for a second when the intro started with 0ff the hooks music
How did you make this nice reference sheet of Zelda? Did you hand draw it and then photo scan it or did you derive it from a 3d sculpt? Would be nice to know the process behind it.
When I try to use the CTRL function for clay strips to make the sockets, I see a line move from the cursor and it starts applying in a weird pattern, there is also a delay between seeing the line from cursor and the affect happening. Anyone else come across this?
