The “old” simulation of 2006 is not without interest in 2023, 17 years later. Despite its largely outdated graphics engine, it remains more realistic in terms of sound and shooting than all the most recent air combat simulations. Thanks man i will give it a try:) the BAT mod gets buggy sometimes even in gameplay at least for me. But the good thing is that it has shit tons of missions and campaigns , korea and vietnam and jets :-)

It looks easy. It's not. It's a success on many others attempts, where I was shot down.. Soluce: pilot Spitfire like...a FW 190D-9.😉 Transform altitude in speed, shoot and RUN: no pursuit (you loose your speed). Climb and again. Dogfight only with one or two enemies. Shoot first, before enemy (frontal pass). Short gusts, precises if possible.

@@Belatza The palm tree mod I was referring to concerns all the other original palms, in single and 5-tree groups, introduced way back for Pacific Fighters (around 2006?). I replace the individual fronds that make the trees look like broken umbrellas with far fewer polygons which still look more like real foliage. ;)
remember two things 1) In THIS fight, ALL zeros were hit in head-on passes. Two were shot down immediately, the other two were damaged. We can assume that they see less well and defend less well and then fly less quickly. 2) These are AI zeros. From time to time I am forced to try to turn at ground level to dodge shots with zero deflection. In this case, it ALWAYS ends badly for me. Without claiming that the flight model of the A6M and F6F of IL2 1946 is absolutely faithful to reality, it nevertheless comes close, in accordance with the testimonies of the pilots. I remind you that it was these fighters which gave an overwhelming advantage over the IJN's embarked aircraft (More than 5500 A6Ms shot down): There is definitely an explanation for this, isn't there? To successfully pilot the F6F, you must remain in the area of superiority of the plane: THE SPEED which must absolutely be kept above 450 km at least, when you have a zero in your six hours. That's what I did.
If you watch the video carefully, you will see that zeros are not outperformed in horizontal maneuvers. All were hit in frontal passes, either shot down immediately or diminished. I use the Hellcat's superiority in straight line speed, dive, and climb speed. This is consistent with historical facts. The F6F-3 was made for that.
@@Belatza Excellent, knowing your subject. But I do believe we saw the Zeros out turned both on your tail and failing to shake you. Perhaps inferior piloting to you as well. Credit to your knowledge and skill.😉 We’ve played such sims longer than most here alive, always disappointed lack of historical performance representations. Only where brother could fly as opponent to prove can one know for sure. Still haven’t found performance accurate sims. Not just air, sea and land too. Far more success in visual and sound reality. Thanks for your well read response and example how it should be done given circumstances.😉
I have been looking for many years for a mod for any IL2 game (I have all of them) that added this plane. It is the first buchon I have seen in a video game, it is also my favorite plane.
