Hi I’m Althea. Welcome to my channel. I have a real passion for cooking, especially Guyanese food. I was born and raised in Georgetown, Guyana but I am now living in the United States of America. Specifically I live in Denver, Colorado.
I started this channel as an extension of my blog (metemgee.com). I started my blog as a way to share step by step recipes with family and friends, and I am excited to share it with all of you.
If you like my recipes and videos please remember to subscribe and to also turn on notifications so that you don't miss future videos.

I want to know why people are so angry about you sharing a recipe That is absolutely insane. I'm making this tonight. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate you.
This was a very detailed and step by step clear video. I was very much attentive throughout. Great teaching style. I'm going to try this recipe today. Cheers🎉
Im a trini married into a guyanese family & my in laws always tell me my cook-up rice taste a whole lot better which is very sweet of them. For 1 i never pressure cook the meat as it loses alot of flavour , 2 i use fresh coconut milk , 3 i fry the washed rice with the meat then add the liquid and i cook on slow heat. & 4 dont use basmati rice!! It will become too grainy as this grain of rice tends to cook really fast.
Roti is not from india. I was brought to india by the moguls. Seatch yputube for this video "5 Indian dishes that have foreign origin". Please do not spread misinformation to please the feelings of people. Do your research before you make false statements.
Bengalis make it too up here ... I think that's why Guyanese got it ... they sell it by weight , originally they make it like buss up shut but also the small Guyanese style too
This is EXACTLY how my Mom used to make them for Our dinner every day. Accompanied with Aloo Choka/ Bigan Choka, Fish Curry, Butterfish Stew, Quatahar Curry, Fried Pumpkin and Saltfish, Fried/Curry Squash, Dhal and Fried Ochroes and the List goes on. Proper Guyanese Food 🇬🇾 .
Good morning! I’ve watched waaaay too many roti vids this morning. But yours was short sweet AND the only one that CLAPPED the roti❣️🙌🏾👍🏾👌🏾Thank you sis!
Hello, I realize I'm several years late but my family is from Guyana and our Roti is almost identical to this but I'm wondering if you can help me understand how to make it like my family. So with my Families roti the layers have what appears to be chick pea crumbles. It's all dry seasoning so it's not Chana, it's basically identical to your video but the color is slightly darker and the layers have this chickpea crumble in them. Are you familiar with this at all?
any video to make roti canai (Malaysia the one), and also any video the brand of flour you are using or the best brand of flour to make roti (parathas, bake fried, aloo paratha etc...)
Curry powder is not used in real dhal puris making we used only Turmeric and Cumin seeds. I don't know why they keep adding all kinds of spices and messing up our original recipes.🇺🇲🦅🇲🇺🦤
