It is a relief to see how much endometriosis surgery has advanced. I was diagnosed at 15 and have had 32 surgeries, including a radical hysterectomy around the age of 21. At 49 I still have endometriosis on my bladder and pelvis area. I never had excision surgery, at the time I had no idea about excision. Through my advocacy work I have learned a lot. Thank you for posting this surgery, very educational 💜🎗️.
I had Stage 4 Endometriosis before it was FINALLY diagnosed when I was 20 (10 years since first period). Had a laparoscopy, and another when I was 26. Fortunately plagued with early menopause at 36. I had Lupron after both surgeries. Other than experiencing hot flashes, I suffered no ill effects. So why do you hate Lupron? This is the problem with giving medical opinions with ZERO context in a RU-vid short. I'd like to know why you think it's bad, but you don't provide that. People who didn't actually go through the experience take this with ZERO grains of salt. For someone whose pain was described as "drug-seeking" by doctors and described as "more painful than labor" by mothers who also had it, I think it's fair to expect some CONTEXT for your 10 second opinion. If it's on your page, fine. But if you're this adamant about your opinion, you have another 50 seconds to make your point in a RU-vid short. I can only reasonably assume that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about and your opinion is worthless.
I hope many surgeons are watching your operations to learn what the "gold standard" for removal of endometriosis looks like. If i could only turn back time.😊
Great surgery and video doc.I think this is one example of the benefit of using indocyanine fluorescence for ureteral identification in complex endometriosis cases. Best wishes for your team and the patient.
It seems like a lot of tissue had to be removed in a particular area. Was that perhaps deep infiltrating endometriosis or perhaps adhesions in the way?
I found the heaviness and weight of my uterus was out of this world. I couldn't walk and put on weight. It felt like my uterus was going to fall out of my vagina. The congestionnand pelvic pain was horrendous. My uterus was the size of a small soccer ball and i had to have it out with my ovaries. I still had pain since my first laparoscopy and have only started getting pain under better control over 24 yrs. My brain has been altered by endometriosis since 11 yrs of age....im 55 this yr and have lost out on a life due to this disease and surgeons who were not experts.
Totally agree. The endometrioma and presence of endo in and around the ovaries and Uterus causes other oxidative damage. I Just got one removed and I feel so great. My dr is an expert and I feel so lucky to have found him.
Agreed! This golden standard must be upheld. Total excision of endometriosis and forget the pharmaceuticals with harmful effects. Good on you for speaking out, Dr Vidali.
Dr. Vidali-l found you a few years ago on here…too late. I had an open myomectomy for fibroids and Stage IV endo by a very inexperienced doctor. I was horribly botched-I know docs don’t like that word, but the mental and physical consequences have been unspeakable. I emerged with a severely damaged ovary, a salpingectomy I did not consent to, the other tube over-filled with dye which shut down, and after suspecting my estrogen supply died shortly after the surgery, I’ve just been diagnosed with menopause. I’m 44. I need a hysterectomy but am told a bowel resection is in order. I’m so terrified and emotionally distraught. If I go through with it, I’d love to consult with you.
Hello, I'm Dr. Vidali, a world-renowned expert in the field of robotic Excisional endometriosis surgery. I've performed hundreds of surgeries each year, and am uniquely qualified to identify, address, and successfully treat the most complex cases, and this is my private contact, please 🙏 can you write to me privately more explanations
Wow I am In shock… I have had an ablation to remove my endometriosis twice. And both times made no difference. What upsets me is that I specifically asked my OBGYN. If there were options for removing the endometriosis. She said no that ablation is the only way. And I was also told that these 2 surgery’s were just a temporary fix. Is the recovery time the same ? I just made me an appointment to discuss this. Thank you so very much for the information
Hello Dr Andrea, What are the longterm effects of having these nerves cut during surgery? Im 24 yrs post my first laparoscopy for DIE and am having problems with nausea, anorexia, belching, discomfort in bowel, difficulty emptying bowel and bladder and bloating. Im loosing so much weight....have lost 40 kg and worried about my future. (Im seeing a gastrointestinal surgeon next week. So i can ask her some questions.) I'm pleased that you are attaining a gold standard of care for your precious women patients. Our womb and pelvis is sacred. Not many surgeons actually treat this part of a womens body with the respect and care it deserves. After all, conception makes the world and humanity continue. Im doubting that my symptoms are not due to psychological reasons and strongly feel that my feedback loops as far as the parasympathetic nervous system has been completely ruined by a butcher of a surgeon, and that is why I am having so many symptoms. Thankyou for uploading the importance of being careful around nerves when doing surgery for women with endometriosis. Much appreciated, Jo Massey (Ex- Reg nurse and 20 yrs researching about endometriosis.)
Yep, I see it clear as day. Whet the hell don't surgeons see them? My botched surgery in 2000 ruined my life, because an inexperienced, idiot of a surgeon thought he'd just cut everything in the path of my endometriosis, nevermind if it might cause severe and debilitating pain and many problems further down the line. I'm grateful that there are surgeons who are careful, but they are far too few and far in-between.
I'm sorry for your pain. Please get some counseling and pelvic physiotherapy to help reduce it, plus some proper pain relief. Bloody demand it...take someone with you and make your dr listen to you. Jo.x
@@jomassey4207 I have a consult on July 11th but I’m dealing with thoracic issues at 61. Both Dr Orbuchs removed most of the endo in my body. But this disease is a beast and it’s in charge of every day. Thank you for your kind words ✌🏼
Paediatric gynaecologist here! Very interesting video. Such an Important topic. Crucial for teens to know what symptoms to look for. I discuss this on my Gynaecology Girl Talk channel!.
