The Stone RU-vid channel follow's my love for motorcycles, cars, big boys toys & a few cool creations in the workshop.
If you've flicked through a few of the video's it should be clear I'm a pretty big petrol head with an un-healthy obsession with BMW M-Cars, old sports bikes, a little Renault Sport Clio 172 Cup "wanna be race car" and a few creations from the garage.

How have you been getting on with them? I still haven’t gotten round to as I am leaning towards the GYTR ones… wondered if you had any regrets or would do anything different… I am guessing the can be cut down? I kinda want between stock and these. Hope you are well!
Just come back from spending some series hours riding round wales this weekend and honestly love them 😎 No regrets at all with fitting them, love the wider bars too as feels like it fits me much better
@@stoneautomotivethank you, as I plan to track mine more too it probably even more required. On the road the oem are ok at best for me but I too suffer bad hand pain with in a mile.. I have just tried them opened up (removed the locating pin) but the 10deg angle is uncomfortable and I also think still to narrow. Will order my Gilles ones today! Hope we get a wales video with the R1M 😂 👍 seriously thought thank you for putting the time in with your videos, really helps! Oh one more, did you change the lever because you had trouble with the master cylinder hose length or was that a non issue and you planned to upgrade the brakes anyway? I am considering ripping out the ABS….
@@ijwhiteman I sat on my friends 2CR with the stock bars a few weeks back and thought god that’s awful so can’t ever see me going back to standard, feels like you can move the bike around more with less effort too 👌 Glad to hear, hopefully have the 1 year review completed in the coming weeks, been pretty busy so hasn’t happened 🫠 I changed the master cylinder to try and get some feedback improvements, I had come from the RC8R with the Brembos and even though the KTM was 7 years older the brakes were incredible for feedback! The r1 just really lacked in feedback (power was ok) but now with the HEL master cylinder/ calipers one finger braking from speed is fantastic with serious precision 😎 only problem now is it makes the rear brake feel absolute rubbish lol
@@stoneautomotive thank you 🙏 really reassuring. The ones I was going to order (eBay had 20% off) the seller was a complete knob. So decided I will pay more and get the genuine GYTR ones. The ones you have would be too far forward for me. But the angle change and width perfect. That’s always the way though isn’t it? Improve one thing and find another area of weakness! 😂
Remember guys, always plug your ignition button back in when doing this... I definitely didn't leave it unplugged when I took the trim off to fix my push pin connector... definitely didnt...
@@robertburton4622 Clio is still with me currently but hasn’t moved in over a year.. awesome thing when it’s up and running but is a tad compromised for road use 😅 have toyed with selling it though to be honest
Fucking hell James 8.52 is pretty dam good for an easy ish lap. You wasn’t at your limit which was clear and taking it easy in places which is all track knowledge. That’s very good mate! The old v8 sounds awesome! Not many cars make a Audi 5 cyl sound average
Cheers mate 😎👌👌👌 Every lap I’m feeling more confident with the track, the e92 was a peach 👌 you’ll have to come over in the charged beast with us next year 😎
You seem like you got so much more confidence how you was taking the corners round there but i surpose you always learning everytime you go on there 👍 That sounds like a really good idea but not sure iff add be able to make it or not but will have to see you thinking of group of us going together or meeting up that end 😉 Ah right i see unless you hide in the car or boot 🤣🤣 but i never thought of that good idea iff theres more than one car then you could just get a lift back that way 👍
Agree, especially when you see some of the high speed crashes! It’s the lack of briefing that baffles me - so many don’t understand the yellows and over taking on the right etc.. disaster waiting to happen
It’s certainly a special M car and for me the best sounding generation M3 (e46 being close second 😅) Car was fantastic on the drive, when cruising you can’t hear the exhaust, only when you put your foot down above 4,500 does it become race car/ anti social 😅
@stoneautomotive Going to be very difficult to give both up for a 911. You wouldn't be the first or last though :) I've really enjoyed your build with this e92. Very tastefully done 👌
Oi mister that wasn't 30mph at the old circuit, tut tut, gotta be done 😂...nice result of 186mph for the porsche on the autobahn. Nice driving on the ring.
@stoneautomotive good,, its interesting learning new things,, I'm doing a similar journey with my bike, keep ticking things on the list off,, keep moving forward.
Great video james and good to see some m3 back on your channel you seem to be getting really good on that track now you got some guts to be on there and that v8 noise wow never gets boring . you finding wearing the gloves as alot of improvement round the track ? also please please dont ever get rid of that e46 m3 you know you will regret it 😆 steak and loads of beer what more can you want its just living the dream mate 😀 ps do you have any kind of breakdown cover as this worries me iff i ever decide to do this in one of my old toys ive heard can cost loads to get the car back to england not sure iff its true or not
Thanks Mike 😎 Yea every lap I feel more and more comfortable at the ring.. still so much to learn 😅 After the response from the video I’m tempted to host a stone automotive trip over next year so come along 😬 I do breakdown cover through my insurance, covers getting the car home but not me so in this case I would have had it collected and jumped back in with Matt or if Matt wasn’t there get to an airport and fly home 😅
Loving this video. I've had m3 e92 for 5 years now. I'm considering changing it for an m4 competition F82, but I don't think I should. I wish there was a newer v8. For me, it's been the perfect car. Sure, I had to change the throttle actuators, but other than that, it's been brilliant. It's fast enough for me, big enough for anything I need, and it's never broken down. It's just a wonderful car.
Thanks and glad you enjoyed 😎 Agree, V8 takes some doing to replace that’s for sure & as you mention there’s enough pace in them even by todays standards 😎
I was in the same predicament...just swapped my E92 M3 1 of 500 limited edition LCI 2013 mineral white for a M4 comp with Lichfield stage 1 528bhp must admit its night and day to the E92 M3 especially for everyday driving....
Very little sadly 😭 Really lost the motivation for it the past few months as just so much to do and the videos are taking ages to produce as so much work - I will see it through though, have started doing some work at the weekend 👍
@@stoneautomotive ah ok. Well we can't wait to see it running again, I can almost smell the Castrol TTS already! I've no idea what it takes to edit a video but I can imagine it's a ball ache! Keep up the good work. 💪
Awesome video. Debating this trip with mine. I take it it’s easy enough hopping on and off the euro tunnel? How about fuel stops, did you manage to stick the good stuff when needing fuel?
Yes mate, euro tunnel is fastest route across. Premium octane available everywhere, can only get 102 in Germany though. Toying with arranging a “stone” trip next year so watch this space 😬
Unless you’ve spun a shell etc I can’t see the need to flush the cooler, would be some service time taking all apart 🤷♂️ the amount of pockets in the block that holds oil you would have some job doing a full 100% drain. Thankfully my oil comes out so golden with the regular changes I’m not worried about a little bit of the old oil getting left behind
totally understand what your saying about getting all the oil out , But for the sake of removing 1 bolt from the bottom cooler pipe and making sure you jack up the car so the cooler inlet side is the lowest, then just pull off the pipes buying new o- rings for refitting £1 each. I did it at the weekend and got almost 3/4 of a liter of oil extra out of the cooler and pipes an extra 15 mins job only a thought
From BMW fan (OLD) and car-car guy, It is frustrating to hear that E46 is so much sharper than E92 because I wanted to add E92 to the family as a secondarily car, now, I won't do it, I'll explain: Im an owner of an N63 X6 and Gosh, E92 sound nowhere near, nowhere to as it sounds and Im sure how it pulls because I did drive a lot of high nM cars and even 1000 Nm of torque 4x4 car is nowhere near X6 with 4.4 biturbo I swear, sound, feels and pull is miles away, however, as much as it sound and pull and goes - it as prone to fails... I could forgive E92 soulless design if it would have more torque...E46 is MILES, MILES away design wise, PS. personal: H&K is shit compared to real decent sound system for example E60 individual (highest among all bmws I think) PSS. E92 is easier to find "alive" and more fitting for a tall guys, benefits end there, if you can, find E46 - endless classics in the most best, the best way, is just sex.
PSSS. Given that you had that hard time to choose (E92 has V8) "the one" for yourself is say everything, E46M3 is still got it. (CSL has big downside, I don't want to track on the car that has no multimedia, bruh)
I had a 92tzr and I loved it. The rs and the mito where handling and breaking wise an upgrade. However they weren't about when I was young.. it was still quick maybe quicker?? It's the OG anyway in my book 🙈
Yes sadly so, can’t get them down the side of the house to the garage 😭 I don’t drive the e46 past November until April to avoid the salt and just before laying it up I jack it up and give it a deep clean and coat the underside in ACF-50.. she is clean for an old girl that’s covered 95,000 miles but does need a few bits re-powder coating like the v-brace and exhaust hangers
Potentially next month, it’s been very slow progress I’m afraid 😭 it’s now onto painting and then taking it upto image works to get all the graphics done then back home for clear coat.. very time consuming stuff around current commitments - have fallen off the wagon with fast progress
2 strokes are actually not known for "making more rpm" Oh contrare! The engineers trying to extract more power from FOURSTROKE engines were forced to make them into oversquare rev monsters! Two strokes make EXPLOSIVE power but they cant reliably handle a lot of rpm because the crank and rod bearings are barely lubicated by a little oil mixed in with fuel because the fuel air mix HAS to circulate around the crank rod and piston where it gets forced through transfer ports back on top of piston to be compressed and sploded every other stroke (every up stroke compression every down stoke POWER while amazingly every upstroke EXHAUST and every down stroke forcing air fuel UPWARDS into combustion chamber! A MIRACLE! Its MAGIC! But it aint no rev to the moon thing compared to 4 stroke like for like ....Put it this way a high revving two stroke production (Aprillia circa mid nineties) 250cc motorcycle might do approx half the RPM of the high revving FOUR stroke (like 19k rpm! ) of CBR250RR
BTW here in the US we didnt get the great two strokes other countries got t....hings petered out at the RZ350 and maybe a trickle of gray market 500 4 cylinder bikes. There was a 2 stroke sportsbike club that rode up in masse to a local twisties mountain hang out here in so cal. I have to say as cool as they were to look at and listen to they were shat on the move! in the twisties....my overweight not that well ridden Tracer 9gt just left ALL of em.....ALL of em for dead ....in the TIGHT stuff even! Apparently these 2t fan boys are all about making em look pristine and either forgot or never even learnt how to ride em fast in the first place? Im pretty sure my 1970s RD350 canon pace would be so so pathetic today even though I sure felt like I was really getting on it and 1973! Riding my big ol heavy Tracer (485llbs!) I was so embarassed for this entire club!! Of course a lot of their problem isthe old tech tires and suspension narrow rims spindly little forks
First I thought Mad Then I realized it was a YPVS. engine I thought fucking insane Then I thought I had An RDLC 250 IN THE 80S And my favourite album was live at Leeds Fuck it I want one.
@@stoneautomotive fitted mine this week , wow what a difference so much more comfortable. I thought I had them to wide at first but huge difference on turn in it's like a different bike. Might pull them.back 10mm but great addition. Your video was hugely helpful 👌
Started the belts on my 182 thanks to your video 👍 Also needs the cam cover leak dealt with. Found the crank pulley keyed, so need to amend the process a bit.
