the best thing for grips is hair spray , slides on easily and sticks like glue once it dry's off.

The RS125 was my dream bike as a 17yr old, couldn’t afford the £3k+ at the time for one. I think we all have the 500g tub of red grease, I think mine is about 20 yrs old now. Lost count of how many calipers I’ve rebuilt now 😂

My very first big was an RS50 and it'd already been tweaked so I could easily get over 60mph. I had that for almost 2yrs and wanted to get the RS250 but I could of gotten a much more practical bike for the same price and it'd have extra power n be fuel injected. The place where I got all my bits they were trying to sell me a brand new Aprilia RSV1000 n I was only 17. Obviously they'd restrict it but you have NO IDEA how close I was to pulling the trigger and buying it on finance because it was just so beautiful and it still is to this day. This was back in 2005 btw. I would love to buy another one but I had a life changing bike accident which took my left leg off up to the groin and I can't even wear a prosthetic as my pelvis was smashed to bit's. I was extremely lucky to be alive but thinking about it. I really wish I'd of just bleed out on the scene as I would of died doing something I absolutely loved! 😪 FML That was over 10yrs ago and I still haven't been able to find a job because of my crippling pain and phantom pain which I'll have for the rest of my life and there's not much anyone can do apart from just giving me pain killers which does help but it's not fixing the problem as the NHS don't have any money to help people once you've been discharged from hospital.

Hi mate. When you fit the grip, use the air compressor with the normal nozel, put it between the grip and the tube/bar, spray the air and slide it on. It will take two seconds and your need no lube. 😊

To take that part off mine I had to take the exhaust off first as it goes up through the rear swing arm through the tail section, dirty (greying) plastics. And fix any electrical wiring whilst I’m there, I’m doing the same thing to my sc125 can’t wait to get her road worthy

Yes if you go premix, you would need to increase the jetting. It sounds strange but adding more oil will make it run leaner as the oil takes up some of the petrol volume.

But when you look at how much oil is added to the fuel I’m shocked it makes a noticeable difference 😅

A trick i use for the bike grips is alcool and/or air compressed: alcool makes the job very easy, and evaporates itself. If you don't have alcool just use air compressed: the thin air layer sprayed while mounting the grip will help you quite a lot. Try it and let me know :) cheers from italy!

Aprilia on the AF1 Futura used a pipe for cool air from the fairing, past the engine through a plastic sheet and to the area of the airbox intake. They didn’t bother with the RS125 Check if your cdi has been modified. As standard between 4750rpm and 6000rpm there is a massive amount of ignition retard which causes a flat spot (presume the aim is to make it easy to get through homologation tests). The cdi can normally be modified to switch to a better ignition timing map - you cut into the cdi at a specific point to cut a bridge on the circuit board inside. If you are doing without lights, etc, the probably easiest to make a new loom from scratch. Easy enough. Bleeding the rear brake can be a pain. The bleed nipple is not at the highest point of the caliper when mounted on the bike. Aprilia used both Brembo or Grimeca calipers (front is Grimeca but badged Aprilia), and various Italian bike specialists should be able to supply pins, etc, for the calipers. Baby wipes are convenient for cleaning a lot of rubbish off the wheels. Before now when the locating pin on switchgear is damaged I have replaced it with a small metal rod stuck in place with Araldite (mind you, I have also helicoiled the plastic thread in the switchgear for the bolts that hold it together)
@_Hangman
@_Hangman 3 месяца назад
Regarding the rear brake bleeding just remove the rear caliper bolt and rotate the caliper for bleeding purposes so that the bleed nipple is at the highest point so as you mention no air gets trapped beneath it.

Standard Brake fluid (DOT3 or DOT4) is Alcohol based, DOT5 brake fluid is Silicone based - NEITHER work with or should be ANYWHERE around red Axle bearing grease, whether it's oil based grease or Synthetic - They make Brake assembly lube if you must, but using brake fluid as assembly lube on braking parts is best - That red grease could cause your rubber piston seals to swell, or turn gummy, or any other number of death-causing problems- the type of rubber they use around BRAKE FLUID is sometimes very weakened around petroleum based stuff- Nasty bit of advise you're posting on the You Tube there sir, as if you know anything?
@stoneautomotive
@stoneautomotive 3 месяца назад
Thanks for taking the time to compose a response to the video, it’s certainly the first time I’ve ever heard this in all the years garage tinkering! In fact over the years and reviewing the comments it would appear many like myself use red grease to rebuild brake calipers. As stated in previous videos I’m not a motorcycle mechanic so always happy to be corrected but as I’ve rebuilt brakes with red grease for the past 15 years with no issues to report of swelling or failing seals I’m surprised to hear this.. even cars like my e46 M3 and Clio 172 cup which have both had the brakes rebuilt this way and been used on track for many years where they will be subject just to hard use/ high temperatures and still no issues of failing or binding brakes from swelled seals or seized pistons as a result. I’m certainly not disagreeing with you and fully aware there are many people out there far smarter than me that understand the chemical make up of these greases and there uses, just odd to hear it this late into years spannering
