im going to do a video ever 10 years to report on the glow. but there are reports of the old lights still glowing since the 80's. its more the useful glow output hence why the military have them for 10 years from new ad they are strong in the first halflife
So you can't charge the battery pack thru the headlamp like the revolt does? The revolt is duel fuel but you can charge the battery pack inside the lamp without having to remove it. I don't see why they are going backwards.
it only allows 60 seconds and i talk far too much. But im planning to do a review, i have a special camera for low light but defo a review in 10 years time to see how bright the glow is
Is it just me or has Snugpak got the most complicated naming and grading system in the world? You've got i-12 this that and the other, you've got i-4 this and that SF this and that1-4 and then there's Osprey, Hawk, Kestrel and half the bird world. It obviously pays them as they've done it for years they've confused me into buying 3 bags over the years and having to sell on 2 at a loss. Moan over.
My PVS-14 illuminator is much brighter than the Sidewinder Compact II in infrared mode. The RWB colors are also pretty dim. Consider the Sidewinder Compact II a map light, nothing more. So I sent this toy back for a refund, and then I bought a REAL light.
maybe you got a faulty unit. my onboard IR had a focused beam due to the led type. so this is a wider flood. i tested surefire also and this wins in my view. But your experience with your tube specs etc will differ. what sort of tube specs you running? also i think of onboard ir as a backup not primary, as if that stops working, it's a new battery housing for the 14.
@@AlphaPews I wanted a light that would allow me to use a stopped-down iris on my PVS-14 indoors. The Sidewinder was overpowered by my onboard PVS-14 illuminator. Now I run a Surefire Scout.
@Down_Time_Productions ah i see thats makes sense. yeah ive used iris also. brilliant for reading or squaring away weapons etc. I love being able to rotate and tilt it tho. my scout light vampire lives on my rifle so i couldnt justify a second for my lid. but that being said surefire and malkoff are my go to illumination brands.
Upgrading from a worn out Fenix 5X original version to the Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar. Decided to reduce the size a smidge. Looking forward to the upgrade.
900 smartwatch with full navigation and a flashlight plus more. i agree its expensive. if it were 700 that would be far better. trouble is apple watches offer far less and their ultra 2 watches are just gimmick. All depends on what your use case is. Dont get me wrong i love automatic watches too
@@AlphaPews For me a good compass is key, so I look at the Suunto Vertical too in compare. Good point on the Ultra 2. But I need to decide, leave for ski trip on Thursday :):)
its got really good ski features. inc course mapping. i also ski and looking forward to using it myself. i think garmins mapping has the full european courses but worth checking online first
Hi, it looks like the screen of the 7 Pro is much better than the screen of the regular seven. Do you think this is really the case? It would be great to see a face-to-face review of these screens.
i believe they are the same but could be the sapphire glass? also my filming camera is kinda 👌 so that will help. i was in a REI store stateside and the staff were really helpful or see if you can find a garmin main dealer. To be sure checkout the garmin website. dont forget this is the Fenix 7 pro sapphire solar so their top spec watch in the line. The fenix 7 is a great watch and the previous generation fenix 6 is also very nice too (also cheaper and more deals about) just depends on what features arenkost important. although the battery on the 7 series has good reports from what i can tell and personally only needs 1 or 2 monthly charges.
personally for me the option to switch easily is a big win. I can go to standard 40 deg for range use and then 65 deg fixed for navigation and wider field use
I believe its the low power setting once the batteries get low enough. I'm not sure if that's red or white output. but luckily it's easy to see the battery status and switch before they get low.
I'd like to see this become infinitely solar powered too- just like the later model Instincts and Etrex Solar. I have two previously mentioned- Just holding out till a Foretrex SOLAR to get released .
same here but given the battery requirements for military and the small size your better of going rechargeable and a small solar portable unit for the cells. 100hrs on those AAA is very healthy now
I'll be doing a follow up in 10 and 20 years. you just inspired me. Theses are really interesting as they half their glow output each half life. but the useful output is rated for 12 years. so in 24 years, the glow will be half and then another 12 years half again.
Awesome video, just pulled the trigger on this watch. I think the solar feature won it over for me vs the epix - i want a watch, not a smartphone screen on my wrist! Also, as a side note, is that a tactical wedding ring?
indeed it is silicone in case of a situation. I had the same feeling. I wanted great battery life and a super fancy screen wasn't super important for me. currently I charge once or twice a month in winter and the flashlight gets used very often, it's super handy. Really happy you enjoyed the review means a lot. glad to help you
it tops up rather than charges. so in thr summer in europe on a day where there is strong sunlight it will assist like 2% depending how much sun exposure. Think of it a maintainer rather than charger. The watch does so much stuff the solar panels would have to be massive to charge a complete device. I have a solar device still and it'd exactly the same
nice renew, everything is explain in detail and on spot. Except the battery life, that you said that you are charging the watch once per month. This is a Fenix 7 Pro which has a battery life of 17days when using GPS. So i do charge the watch every 5-7 days as im doing a 1-2 hour training per day. So that is its battery life can stand.
hi and thanks. I cycle three times a week for 1-2 hours each time. i used gps on auto setting. and currently I charge just once a month. my watch when fully charged says 21 days. but this also depends on whether you use it as fully smart watch or like I do mostly for fitness tracking
@@AlphaPews thats fair. As im training every day for at least 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. All SATs on. When i fully charge i see 17 days available. Im also using smart watch capabilities so that may use lots of battery during the day. Im also using all day long the Heart rate monitoring.
@astasuleo I leave HR on also but not blood Ox measuring. I set that to manual. I also gave battery saver a try and its really good if you don't have time to charge I think it shows 57days with phone off, hr off, screen to saver mode also
hy, is the garmin fenix 7 X pro sapphire solar ,even better or what is the X standig for ?? i am going to buy my fierst garmin fenix, but dont really know what the difference is between the two above, perhaps you know it
I almost lost my wife after buy my Garmin fenix 7x pro sapphire solar hahaha. I came from a G Shock Mudmaster, so learning how to use this beast of a watch is on another level. There is so many things to learn and figure out, its mind boggling. Thank you for your awesome review from New Zealand 🇳🇿
the solar charge will only charge around 3% per day. so charge it at home and then the solar helps the endurance. I charge mine around one or twice a month. usually once.
I got the S (smaller wrists) of this watch and i absolutely love it. I love the PIM display, i waste no battery life on amoled, i charge it once a week and I never ever have any problems with it 😊
