Subbed. Loved your Ridge vid in S2K. I have 06 as well. Watched it countless times 😂. This video helped me so much. I'm def the fast driving style and not consistent at all.
Funny thing that happened: I tried going into turn one the way you did in the s2000 in my car and ended up exceeding the track limit. One of the SCCA organizers appeared to be pretty upset. I was okay with the learning experience and not rattled at all. I lost a skidplate and had a red-faced guy practically yelling at me and when he asked me how fast I was going, I don't think he liked it when I smiled and said, "Almost 140 mhp." He told me by downshifting and doing that, I upset the balance of the car. To be clear, you did say most cars have a legitimate braking zone and it was totally my fault and a fun learning experience.
Great video. Thanks for the information and the guidance. Hopefully I can use that and execute it in real-time. I appreciate people like you who share knowledge and not gatekeeping for fear someone might get a faster time.
SICK!!! Amazing! Passin' that Porsche with better driving skills was nutty! I got a wrx, goin to the Ridge soon, so I figured I'd download the map for asseto corrsa, and watch some tutorials first. I'm new to the racing scene. This was CRAZY COOL! Nice job teachin' and even better driving. 200HP , I got over 350 and you'd smoke me. I'm meeting a friend who has m3, stock. He says since he's got more ponies, he's gonna smoke me. No question you'd destroy us both. You made me realize today that it is true, "It's the driver" Nice job! Thanks for the lesson and motivation
The back section (especially 5-8) is really fun, but after a while the straight does feel like waiting. It's an interesting trade-off because T1 at 150 is exhilarating every time. Overall there's definitely more risk here vs the ridge, so you know you're leaving a decent amount on the table but its tricky to figure out if you should push for more.
My first off was between 4 and 5. Nailed turn 2 and was suddenly going 10mph faster through 3. Felt like I had a choice between braking straight and going off, or braking while trying to turn on the downhill, and probably spinning. Opted to go straight. 😬
Bummer. Looked like a nearly perfect lap until the lawn job. I've trimmed the same patch of grass in my S2000. What was your estimated lap time before the off?
Excellent driving and excellent lap times! So stoked you got to experience the corkscrew. Driving there is a dream of mine lol that track is just SO iconic. Happy for you brotato!
Planning on doing the 24 Hours of Lemons this October 2023 at Ridge for the first time. Our team found your RU-vid videos and are using them to familiarize ourselves to the track. Thank you brother.
I honestly forgot how much I loved this track. I think the pavement was resealed here, it definitely has more grip than I remember. If everything was the same, and it was just the actual track that was different, I think I slightly prefer ORP, by narrow margin. It's definitely more technical, and can be an absolute riot to nail some of the blind corners and banks. But when you factor in the proximity of the Ridge, the facilities, and how professional they are, Ridge is an overall better experience. It's definitely worth coming to ORP at least once a year though!
@@TC_OFF It was way worse last year. We walked the pavement, they definitely have filled in some gaps, idk. I also don't understand how I found ~5-6 seconds over last year LOL.
Definitely true! Another benefit is that progressing in that consistent manner builds confidence in what you are doing, when you aren’t randomly flying off track, out of control.
I wished I had watched this video before my first track day at the Ridge! Super helpful commentary and can't wait to try it out next time I'm out there.
Aggressive reporting in. 😅 It was easy to be aggressive when I was in my early 30s, single, and driving my 05 STI and 94 Miata. STI is just so stable and wants to slide, and Miata was just too slow to get in trouble. But since those days I did a lot of R/C racing which taught me the importance of consistency. We'll see what happens in my new chapter of track days with my BRZ. So far I'm just slow, lol. I do think aggressiveness can still be a useful tool to break a plateau, or improve setup, though. Your Ridge track analysis was hugely helpful in preparing me for my first track day at the Ridge a couple weeks ago. Looking forward to more vids!
Fantastic video. Running similar times, but with +350hp. Always more to learn, and you've made it approachable and applicable (via narrative) to cars with different dynamics. Thanks!
Lots of good driving, except for letting your emotions get the better of you. Flipping another driver off is poor sportsmanship. If you have a genuine concern, take it to the track official. That ruined it for me.
That's a super good lap ! Your lines are super good ! I was able to do 1min47.8s last week on my second time there but my car has a lot more horsepower. Still a lot of room for improvement when I look at your lines and my mistakes on my lap... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lU6J9d1T9nY.html
Great video and well explained. I just spent the weekend at ORP, watching the cars on Saturday then my very first track day was Sunday and I rode my 1050 Triumph Sprint. I had a blast over the 4 sessions I was out. Now that I have first had experience on ORP clockwise this video now really makes sense to me. I don't think you would run this tract on a different line with a bike so this will translate well to study before my next event out there in July. Thank you I really appreciate i.
Two years late to this party. That NA is all over the place. He seems like he has to heavily rely on his supercharger to post decent times. That is not the way to go for that car. He needs to use the momentum, turns 2, 6, and 10 can be apexed late. You were doing fine however, the NA wasn't giving point by when needed and you were eating his booty like none other.
