Being from a family of creatives whose motto was to produce not to consume was etched into Kyle from a very early age and being educated at home gave him many opportunities to work hard at his own creative pursuits.
In the early years, information was hard to find, there was no online content and only a few books and videos, so it was a lot of trial and error in the knife shop. Kyle is passionate to teach makers his more than fourteen years of experience.
“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” We hope we can inspire you on your maker’s journey.
You’re using the edge finder Correctly. Honestly you’d probably make a good machinist if you felt like it. Most machinists these days can’t sharpen a drill bit and cut through high carbon steel.
You should make a double fuller Gaboon Viper sword next. Their beautiful patterns with your Damascus tile style would be mind blowing. Top of the sword the tail of the viper, the hilt as the head. Maybe Fang guards. Just a thought
Where you ever mentioned in Forged In Fire I don’t remember but I watched almost every season and nothing the showed on the show and nothing the contestants did or the judges did even comes close to comparing to your work. Your Damascus patterns in your knives and sword’s are second to none true craftsmanship. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.
Yeah, but remember, a standard COFFEE cup (according to manufacturers) is 5floz. A standard MEASURING cup of water is 8floz. So 15 cups of water would really be closer to about 24 cups of coffee. Still, that's about 4x strength, or espresso level. I drank a lot of instant coffee in my military days. Never again.
I cant tell tou from experience that arc burn or flash burn is a not very fun time at all! Ive had it so bad before that just laying in a pitch dark room was agony!!! Eyes open and the air would burn my eyes to the point the thought of ripping them out was starting to spind appealing. Eyes closed and it felt like little shards are glass was stuck in my eye lids. No matter what you do us just pure agony! The only thinf ive ever found that works to actually heal your eyes and not just temporarily relieve the pain is vicks vapor rub. Smear a small amount under both eyes. Ut nakes the pain a lot worse for a bit but it actually pulls the heat out of your eyes while helping moisturize them. Potato peals and ice packs only temporarily work.
wow!!.. This knife was so stunning that it made me emotional bringing a tear to my eye .. you are not just on another level .. you are on God Level .. Well done sir .
Kyle, your attention to detail, from the macro level to the micro level, is astounding. It makes me wonder how your brain is wired and how I could get some. And it is only exceeded by your patience. If I were to critique anything, it's that you bend over too much. Your back will one day pay a serious price. You don't feel it as much now when you're young and strong but you will eventually. I hope to one day have you make something for me. It would be a real treasure.
I feel like his editor is a younger family member of his for most of his videos. The music is wildly inconsistent with its tone jumping jarringly from scene to scene, and sometimes just having music ruins the mood of the shot. But the start of this video is better than usual. The music is lighter and the tone is consistent. I'm sure it will start blasting techno music at a completely inappropriate volume later in the video, but maybe the editor is getting better, keep at it, you'll find your voice. Also Mr. Royer is a genius who is a little weird, dorky, and hyper-focused. I would like to hear him explain more about what he's doing. Like he does in this video. Don't try to make him fit into tiktok brain rot kid's suggested videos. Just show him off with minimal editing. I'm writing this as I continue to watch the video and honestly this is just perfect. Light music, consistent explanations. I hope you can maintain this pace throughout.
