Anger is an emotion and it’s natural to feel angry. What the hold onto anger is the worst thing have you ever tried EFT emotional freedom technique of tapping it’ll help you release the anger. Gratitude, journaling, it will help shift your mind. There’s a science two up to daily grind to list.

Your psychiatrist fucked up. Mine had me take 25 mg for a week, then 50 for a week, then 75 to get me to the therapeutic dose of 100 mg. If you don’t do that you WILL get the rash. I found your video thinking in a search because I thought I might have it too, but I don’t. I hope you have found the right med combo for yourself. I was on Lithium for 20 years before trying Lamictal and I love that I don’t get acne with it. Having the right med combo is a game changer in the quality of life that you have, but it took 9 years to get mine close to being right, and 24 to be at the best place I have ever been. Stay strong and I love that you put your struggles out there to reduce the stigma that people have about mental health issues.

Thank you so much for your comment, Christine, and sharing your experience finding the right meds. While I haven’t been at it for as long, I can relate to it taking a LOOONG time. I’m currently taking 60 mg fluoxetine. I’m doing relatively okay on this and have been for a couple years now, but there’s always part of me that wonders if there’s an even better fit.

LOL! Feeling more confident every day and noticing my anxiety dissolve until I knew I was “in control” is definitely a relief, I went with what I mentioned and a week after my paruresis was gone. I just go'ogled the latest in Beck Reznark’s guide and now I can go without even thinking about it.

Thanks so much for making these videos! I study a clinical psychology program and I am doing a presentation on impulse-control disorders where we are not allowed to use any scientific articles. It's supposed to capture a true patient perspective by using art, writing and music made by people who have these disorders. It has been really hard finding anyone talking openly about having IED, probably due to the harsh stigma that sadly comes with all impulse-control disorders. So I just wanted to thank you for being so brave and open to talk about it! We need more people like you ❤

I'm working with someone with ocpd. We are a two person team for 17 years. We currently hired two more people to take over when we retire in three years. Recently everything that occured the last 17 years finally makes sense. I had no one to witness what was going on in the department. I analysed and researched recently and was able to pin point the occurrence. My concern is my sense of being. I don't know where to start for assistance even maybe with a psychologist or psychiatrist. We do have employee assistance at work and will be looking into that. I have no trust in my supervisor as he thinks my co-worker is the perfect employee.

Thank you for being willing to share your experience with us! That kind of transparency/vulnerability is admirable, and I think that practicing as you’ve done here helps to reduce the stigma around impulse control conditions. I was wondering: would you have any advice or ideas for effective treatment for your younger self? From what you’re saying, it seems like improvements really started to show when you were older and more active/voluntary in your treatment. But what would have been good for a 10 year old you who may have been more resistant and not quite at the reading level or emotional intelligence you are now?

I've been taking Lamictal for quite a number of yrs. At first I thought I was gonna scratch my skin off. Besides the side effects, and being tapered on and off medication, I wouldn't wish this diagnosis on anyone. I don't have an illness that ppl can see, therefore they think I'm fine. Oof yeah i struggle with this a lot 😂 especially when people make jokes about me (between good friends, and it really is just a joke), and i want to tell them to stop, but I don’t want to look insecure and weak. Not to mention, I'm a perfectionist; i want everything i work on (things like drawing, creative writing, music production, things that I'm passionate about) to be the best as possible. However usually it's not naturally because I'm still a beginner at that point, or I'm still just improving. Finding your channel has helped me clear my mind in how to deal with my mental health. So thank you for what you're doing, and keep going! Also, do you think you could make a video about dealing with pride? I struggle with it a lot, because i feel that i always have to be the best at anything i do, but it also forms this negative hostility towards others; my competitors. I think taking things too personally and perfection are very related to pride

These people are the worst people to work with in that they appear to management to be helpful and sociable, but in reality they make your life hell and eventually cause normal people to quit and lose their job and living affecting their family. I would rather work with a narc and psychopath than someone with OCPD , at lease with the prior they are easy to avoid.
@futuristica1710
@futuristica1710 8 месяцев назад
That’s a very insensitive comment!
@jmfs3497
@jmfs3497 3 месяца назад
@@futuristica1710 As someone that has an OCPD manager, I don't think OCPD people recognize how insensitive OCPD people themselves are to others. What seems insensitive about the original comment is likely coming from a place of feeling chronically abused, devalued, and obstructed by an OCPD person. Non-OCPD people can have their own vision of perfect/high standards, and an OCPD person fights against other people's core values of what those high standards are. OCPD micromanagement feels like an attack on a non-OCPD person's self-actualization. Having a personal vision of "perfection" looks different to every person, and the OCPD person oppresses the personal vision of others through relentless negative reinforcement. OCPD people tend to give themselves a lot of credit for having "high standards" when to a non-OCPD person the "high standards" appear like a cognitive impairment that is self-obsessed and avoidant of others shared reality. OCPD appears like a very egotistical Dunning-Kruger effect.
@rdevalentin
@rdevalentin Год назад
If people with OCPD experience ego-syntonic thoughts and urges, that is, thoughts and urges compatible with their values, what incentive do they have to want to change and seek therapy? By contrast, in OCD, thoughts and urges are ego-dystonic, that is, they are felt less compatible with one’s values. You’re right, the first step to overcome OCPD is self-awareness: you need to realize it’s causing you more problems than it’s solving. Gaining some perspective enables you to objectively examine the pros and cons of OCPD and choose the life you really want. And, with good experiences, most people realize that a little more flexibility makes you happier in the long run.

Everything you mentioned here was SPOT ON. So much so that it makes me sad that the challenges I face are validated at the mercy of having OCPD. I’m a Strategic Accounts Project Manager and I was just removed from one of my largest accounts per the customers request because I’m “inflexible, rigid and defensive”. I was very taken back and truth be told, I’m a little hurt. I’m trying to understand this disorder as much as I can but it’s very difficult to accept that there’s actually anything “wrong” with me 😢 ugh
@youseemnormal
@youseemnormal Год назад
Hi Jenna, *long reply loading…* I’ve been thinking about your comment since I received it. Thank you for sharing your story with me. The very first thing I want to say is there is nothing “wrong” with you - your mind, like mine, truly just works a bit differently than other people’s. The reason you may feel like there’s something wrong with you is because others do not yet understand how your brain works and therefore the challenges you face when put into certain environments. Since you left your comment, I read a book about neurodivergent minds - have you heard of the term neurodivergence? It’s helped me a ton in understanding and accepting myself - and in seeing just how the world is NOT set up for people with neurodivergent minds. I just wanted to leave you with these couple of thoughts now that I’ve had some time to put them into words. ❤️
