I collect/repair vintage radio's, record player's, and TV's. I also collect records. I will post videos of some of my records and you will hear records being demonstrated on my record players; but, they will likely by obscure material because the copyright police tend to not like me posting more common stuff.

My opinion, a non working radio is junk. Get it working. The "purests and restuffers" be damned. It's like the people who put plates on a wall. They have a purpose, they serve a function and it ain't nailed to the wall. Do what you have to do to make it work. "Let 'em sing!!!". If the radio is worth more not working then it's a doorstop. Plain and simple.

Have you thought about using a battery holder from a cheap LED flashlight? They hold 3 AAA batteries and around here we can pick them up at a dollar store for a buck and a quarter. You sure come up with some interesting stuff, Thanks for sharing with us.

As we teeter on the edge of widespread war this song and fundamental idea of peace is essential. 500, 000 dead men averaging five and a half feet tall laid head to toe would form a line almost 521 miles long. This is insanity. The country of Ukraine has been destroyed.

Wow, what a nice find and a nice radio! I had no idea they had solar-powered radios back in the 50's. I'm not surprised that the output on the solar cell has faded, but I am surprised that the radio works quite well, running on it's original germanium transistors

Thanks for sharing this gem and I appreciate your approach to preserve its originality. A very well-built radio; its components have held up remarkably well. Those selenium cells do get tired especially with a lot of UV exposure and heat. I've an old Pen EE camera from the early 60s left ignored forever in its case. Still meters perfectly today.

Sorry for my sorry story but very good for the amplifier. I bought one 2021 in the boredom of the pandemic. Sent this to a friend who kept the setting in stereo mode and disabled the tone control. As is, it was still the same 1w per channel amplifier but it just sounded bigger with more depth and space. My technician friend cleaned all moving parts, potentiometers and carefully resoldered most parts. The sad part was my very good technician friend passed away last year due to health complications and I enjoyed every bit listening to any music I played using this Realistic SA-10 amplifier. Thank you for sharing and a warm handshake from my humble country the Philippines 🇵🇭

I find it fascinating that Telex made this machine in 1993, at a time when the mainstream moved away from records in huge droves due to the advent of the compact disc. I think these days, what with the resurgence of the vinyl record, many people would find this player a very interesting curio, I don't know how desirable a machine like this would be now, particularly because it doesn't play 45 RPM records, nor does it have stereo sound if I understand you correctly. Is it possible to lock the fast forward or rewind buttons down when in cassette mode? I don't know if these players were used in Australia, we did use an equivalent of the C-1 machine, I had a few of them and didn't like them in the end, because they kept developing annoying and bizarre faults.

Hi RTPN, are you familiar with the approach to correct chroma demodulation alignment issues? The symptom I’m observing is that there is horizontal red color phase shift to the right, where it produces a red smear ghosting effect. It only impacts reds more than any other color. I saw that it is likely a chroma demodulation alignment issue. Is there a way to correct?

21:47 Good points! I noticed that metallic ringing on NY metro AMs with FM translators. It's a latency issue that feeds back into the AM side, making historically pleasant and comforting sounding AM sound like a loose heat shield on an old Datsun transmission.
