Britain _is_ Middle Earth (or rather, the inspiration for it). New Zealand is a much more dramatic representation of it, which is nice for films. Very much enjoying all your videos, thanks for sharing your travels.
A lot of people commenting as if buying second hand is illegitimate. Sure you can get some rough results, there's nothing wrong with using that as your way into the hobby. Especially if you're not being as cheap, up the amount a bit and you can get some nicer stuff. I have a 2k Chaos army out of an off the shelf world eaters combat patrol, plus some extra units bought cheap off people, some loose bits for conversion, and an extra box of legionaries and a box of terminators. Whole army cost under 200 pounds, and if I finished painting it looks, in my opinion, great. Not like something that crawled out of a bin. For a new player, I would suggest buying a Killteam or a combat patrol, and getting into a club in your area playing that. Expand out slowly from there, having a community of people who play the game that you know will make it very easy to get models for cheap. Almost every warhammer player has a lot of bits they have no issue parting with some of for free, and even models they may be happy to give away.
yea GW has been in my playbook since the Mid 90's. No more. I switched to Specter Miniatures and Boltaction. But my friends and i play Specter mini's Using Boltaction rules set
I played like 15 years ago and people were already pissed it was expensive. Haven't played since... but I would be printing if I got back into it, especially now that I have enough money to drop some cash up front and save in the long run.

I know they lost a lot of money with their price increases, I literally look at myself and those around me and we went from into buying steadily stuff to having not bought more than one thing in last year.
I learnt quite a few things during that video that the main ones are the Hobby has stayed the same as it is been when I left it about 8 years ago the players are still absolute Absolute whingey perfectionist assholes.
There should have been a control and one of you bought only new from GW just to see the massive farcical difference. The reality is if you are a young lad using your pocket money GW has priced you out entirely.
I think the only way of making this challenge work with no second-hand miniatures is the custodes combat patrol. You can get it for ~85 pounds and with enhancements it's a 1k list that is actually "playable" in 10e

I was interested in the premise, but using 2nd hand market an calling it the "scientific" approach? That just insults the intelligence of the viewer. 2nd hand prices will vary wildly depending on time, army and locality, using that is the most unscientific way to do this. Let alone the stupidity of trying to find if GW is expensive by buying from anyone but GW.

Great video! In case you decide to take your camper to a muddy place again, there are skid plates that you can purchase that can help in this situation. Basically, heavy plastic plates with texture that you can slip under the corner of your wheels. Then if you are at least able to spin your wheels there should be enough purchase for the wheel to move onto the plate and it will create a sturdy platform over the obstacle. Very handy if you’re stuck in the mud and don’t have kindly locals nearby!
I love that this basically shows, no, you cant build one for this amount of money. Whether through 3D printing or having existing supplies, each one needed more than just having £100 to buy the models. And its also a limited experience because the only feasible way of getting any sort of army was to buy used, and not used well but well used. So no building, which limits any of your own input to just painting or bringing in outside scultping/3DP'd material. But again, that adds to the cost. Buying paints, brushes, and tools can set you back that much. Even when you buy all of the non paint supplies off of Temu. So for someone looking to get started, easily double that number to do your own used army. Quintuple or... 15-uple if you want to do your army new.
obviously there is a constraint to location and time but genuinely if you look to China and the stores there and find the right stuff you could get an entire army for less than 50 quid all on sprue not pre built or even touched for the matter - literally fresh out the box
