Lumens and Lux are two different things... Lux is more important for visibility. My whole 14 acres on my property uses Mercury vapors and high pressure sodium. You get a lot more visiblity with the DX coated Mercury vapor lamps than you do the high pressure sodiums. But the lumen per watt is more on the hps. I dont use LED because led lights for putdoor lamps are still pretty crappy or were theyd getting better.. but the pin point blinding ligjt of led is rather annoying. I only use them for floods that i turn on and off at will. The bottom coating of LED light bulbs are trash as well on your video at 9:55. That coating there is like gold leaf thin... and wears out very easily causing those crappy led bulbs to no longer work after a short time. Ive had to replace many of them because of this. While old fashion bulbs used very thick coatings that dont wear out. Led diffusor tech is still crappy as well. Outdoor HID lights are 360 degree 100% coverage that improve drastically with reflectors. You can improve the lumen output by near 2 fold with a reflector. Leds only go one direction.. and the diffusion reflecting tech is still pretty crappy with them. This is why LED lights over fish tanks create that wavy sensation in tje sand.. its all shadows. Light coverage is bad with led over florescent or HID

It’s like it screws up your color vision so that it looks like you are wearing blue blocking glasses. The lenses on them ARE an amber color, and they are going to block out the bluer light like ultraviolet light and anything blue in color. Hence the name blue blockers.

I think a gas discharge tube with an advanced flyback driver with a current feedback loop that can be pushed to be 90% efficient could beat the LED in terms of lm/W maybe but definitely in terms of life span. There is just nothing to break here, the electrodes are thick tungsten balls so they would take a very long time to break down. It basically lasts forever untill something else breaks it. If we take that sodium lamp, get rid of the heater coils and replace them with tungsten balls, boost up the voltage to several kilovolts or so depending on the gas resistance. You would need to switch to DC at this point and build a flyback driver like this. Now you are not loosing power in them anymore and instead you just heat up the gas with higher voltage and then lower the voltage as it draws more current.

I know that some people have used this monochromatic light in the same way you would use a green screen. Basically, instead of replacing green, you replace this wavelength. It works really good with things like hair in the wind and lace I think. Personally I think it would be very interesting to see a video on that!

My brain realized it was capacitance quite quickly here I'm sure i learned it in school at one point but it was great that my intuition was correct in this thought, the energy has a distance to travel before it "realizes" it has no new path to ground which is why a length of wire works in this scenario.

The one that gave off a lot of UV will most likely be safe, like when you use a UV effects ''black light'', and won't at all require sunglasses or sun-screen.

Without a Liquid Scint measurement, you'd need to determine beta energy the old-fashioned way, using a set of various thickness of foils. You'd really want to try and determine the half-life as well. My first thought was Sr90 oflr C14. By the end of the video, I'm still pretty confident that it's one of those two. The interesting candidate that I've seen in the chat is Pb-210. I wouldn't normally think of Pb210 as a pure beta emitter, because it's usually seen in secular equilibrium with the rest of the isotope zoo making up the U238 decay series. I'm guessing it would be difficult to extract Pb210 from all of these other gamma emitting isotopes, so I would think you'd see some of those on the Radiocode. Ni63... don't know enough about it. My guess is still Sr90 or C14. Need more data, though.

I believe we used these for darkroom lighting since it was spectral pure in a particular band would not react with black and white paper processing. The lamps were hung from the ceiling and aimed up at the ceiling for a dispersed light. The energy ratings are false. When one considers the power factor being low the lamp will actually be using the same energy as a standard light bulb. Power factoring cannot be measured with standard analog mechanical kilowatt meters. If one had the new digital meters, they can detect the power factor and correct power usage of led lamps. Now in the states power companies must inform customers of power factor correction for billing purposes. Failing to do so would be a violation of their declaration made with the public utilities agency of the states they operate in. If you have a digital meter take the time to check their terms of service registered on your states website, then call your supplier and ask them if they are doing power factor correction billing with your service.

How feasible is it to just sticka lense in front of it and achieve zero divergence? Like obviously not since the manufacturers likely wouldve dont that already especially on the expensive laser, but why not?

Currently a 2W UV-C Led costs around $25-$30, if there would be a working disinfecting lamp made from Leds, that would be very expensive.

1:03 There is another cheap and reusable method for detecting UV-C, in Hungary all banknotes look different under UV-C and UV-A light, so you just put the bill under UV and you can figure out which type of UV is it. The smallest nomination is the 500 forint bill which is equal to $1.40.

Hello Brian: There’s a new season of Skinwalker Ranch. They have a multiple laser light test & a green laser that has a gap and the experimenters are looking for an explanation. Can you check what they are doing & maybe come up with an explanation? Season 5 of The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch. I’m just a curious viewer. Earlier seasons did have a splitting and bending laser, but that can be explained. The gap is a puzzle-but the infrared transmittal seems promising. Thank you!

the increased activity in the op globe after you touched it is due to the small amount of static electricity that was built up in your body got transferred to the glass, making it more sensitive.

We have one Philips 4W 840lm lamp for our porch light. Since it is on for many hours two nights a week to allow safe access for our milkman I figured it would be worth the expense to purchase. I paid £12 for it two years ago but don't know what they charge now.

There is something charming about a street still lit with older sodium lighting, our road has historic street lamps so hopefully they will never modify them to the clinical LED fittings used on main routes. They have a high failure rate compared to the older lamps. Living in austerity Britain, the streetlights on side streets go off at midnight because of cost, we are used to it now after 15 years of cost cutting, but the old orange glow of sodium meant safety, and not twisting an ankle on broken pavements

There's a solution for using LED and preserving the old yellow color: Using 3000k LEDs. In a village of Spain called Pozo Alcón the council has been doing that. I visited that village a year ago and believe me, at night you won't see no difference from the old lights and these ones until you get close to them and see the LED matrix. In fact, not only they consume less energy, but also they seem to emmit less light to the atmostphere thanks to their moders desing.
