This is one of those channels where the guy tries to figure out life and mostly fails 🤷‍♂️

This is all mostly just my opinion.
I'm not a professional anything.
Be smart and do your own due diligence.

I don’t think it’s correct to say why ppl don’t become Taoist. I’m Buddhist Toaist myself. And believe most Chinese are the same. China has pretty much successfully integrated Buddhism, Taoism and Confuciusm so much that we no longer identify as such. We live it out.

A group of Taoist monks is chanting in public, blocking the sidewalk. A police officer arrives and tells them they need to move on. One monk protests, "But we have the protected First Amendment right to public prayer! I bet if there were Christians here, you wouldn't make them leave!" The cop replies, "You're right, I wouldn't. Christianity is the only true religion, but you guys are just getting in the way!" The monk smiles, nodding, and says, "Very true, we are in the way."

I just want to say I love these comments. And the uncarved block has been the greatest concept I’ve found to return to flow in my life. To me, the uncarved block is our natural state of beingness before we develop baggage as we unconsciously shape ourselves with life experiences, perceptions, and beliefs. It’s like a clean mirror to see the world through and leads to a pure innocence of being. You act, to act. No for result or for esteem or recognition. You don’t scheme or lose yourself in desires because your presence and selflessness makes you see the divine in everything and everyone. You don’t argue or debate emotionally because you don’t identify with beliefs. You remain open minded and light-hearted because of the space between awareness and identity. You lead by example and your self transformation brings about change that words never could. This space allows for traits like playfulness, forgiveness, patience, peace, fearlessness, Desirelessness, flexibility of mind, and presence to emerge. It’s why enlightenment isn’t something to obtain but the delusion of not already having it is something you lose. It’s the great unlearning. What a remarkable gift to become.

I began reading the Tao Te Ching. When I was 11. I just turned 60. I'm not done yet. I think if you actually are familiar with the Tao you know it doesn't natter if people follow it or not. They still follow it. Taoist religion is very ethnic and would be difficult for many non Chinese people to embrace. It might be good to learn to pronounce Tao/ Dao. Most of what you say here is true of any spiritual path. Most people are not interested in a path requires active participation and self accountability .

While I find this so true, these reason to not take the instruction from the teaching is the very reason I chose to fellow it and advance the nature of my person as I am a myth buster on myself as I was hit and blown 35 ft from a lighting strike while reading the Bible reliziing the old and new testament are completely different religions and Christianity is a hijack teaching that is spiritual death as a person gives up improving themselves after accepting a mythical Savior so you no long seek to discover to improve your character and understanding of the nature of life...

So much personal opinion overlaid on top of clear and evident sections of the tao de ching. While there is a right to personal experience placing it in context that doesn' even marginally apply does not serve as either instruction or explanation of the material it is applied to. Sigh

the reason I try to follow Taoism is it frees me from daily BS. Especially in the tech world where people get richer and higher by acting like a bigger jerk. It provides perspective and helps keep sanity.

I didn't understand this chapter by reading it myself, but I tend to consult the note of Stephen Mitchell, and still didn't understand. I find your interpretation clear but very different (I like yours to be honest, but if you see this comment would love your response in this regard (I'll copy what Mitchell said). Again, thank for the enlight and hope you can provide me with more: non-being is what we use: The true teacher realizes that there is nothing to teach; that’s why he can teach anyone who wants to learn. The true lover realizes that there is no one to love; that’s why he is available to anyone who needs him. The Master realizes that there is nowhere to stand; that’s why he can stand anywhere.

The duality of 'true' and 'false' cannot exist in non-duality, 'equal' or not. The Saved/Enlightened/Mystic who experiences non-duality sees Truth/Beauty everywhere! Sees God everywhere! If you see life and death and lies and false and evil and good, etc... then you are lost in Ego, thought.. Duality!

Taoist religion has rites, rituals and a plethora of practices that havent been mentioned here. So your early assumption of people not knowing about it was more right on the spot than you could ever imagine.

1. For this I think is about knowing the results of doing action, but also give space to reflect about what you do, the feminine would be the void and the masculine your actions. 2. I think it does because when you are open by the things that happen in your life at the moment, you can flow with that, and find the path within. 3. It matters because by having the Tao present, going with the flow of what one does, one avoids unnecessary suffering and one begins to enjoy more what one does or one's own circumstances. 4. Because every human has its downs and trying to observe them rather than judge him would be better for a balanced bond. 5. Maybe he used because the true form in things are when they are not shaped, that could be related to our circunstances, not trying to change it radically, observing life like what is it now and take time to make the new shape of it it's the best way to handle it.

I came to this video not expecting much. Within a half hour, I laughed out loud at how wrong my presumption was. This exposition is profound, engaging, and very accessible without being preachy or pedantic. "True love for someone is giving them what they need most, when they deserve it the least-sometimes at great personal cost" @33:30. Well, I needed this when I came here, was pompously pessimistic when I started it, and you have obviously put forth great effort to make this happen. Thank you

Im still getting over my fear of spiders, and this video DEFINITELY helped. I remember 2 weeks ago i could barely look at a picture of em. Now im watching a video on them.I still get jittery here and there but thats apart of challenging and facing your fears. I also realized the root of the problem was me. I never really had the best mindset about things always and that + a fear can bring on many other bad things. I've made considerable progress so far and im proud of myself for even taking action because its paying off. Im also proud of anyone else here that is facing their problems head on 💯

Your observation about diminishing returns in AV is spot on. I've noticed that younger technicians/designers get overly meticulous and micromanaging, which leads then to frustration and burn out. The pros on the other hand, are quick to find a good solution and stick to it. They don't fret about every little detail.
