hey im about to do the same to my x2 curious on what you ordered and how much? half gallon enough for 5 coats and some? did you go with g2 or g4? did you do the gator base coat?
@@alexpetersen2594 I went with the Quart size GatorGlide G2. I still have a little bit in the container and it got all 5 coats. I didn’t use the base coat either. Super easy to install and cured quick as well. If you get a small amount like I did I wouldn’t mix it in a 2 gallon bucket like gatorglide suggest. If you watched the video I show what I used instead. 🤘🏼🔥
@@AlphaChimpEnergy I was only able to get 85 miles on the road with the stock tank which is 2.8 gallons. 3 more gallons with this tank so it would roughly get you 170-190 mpg total.
@@takodac2469 That is exactly how I felt before we got one. Very wild looking ski and fun to rip around on. Definitely not a ski for jumping unless you do a lot of weight reduction or bigger engine but still a really fun ski.
Love seeing kids in the shop with dad. It can be an issue sometimes, other day my 3 year old let all the air outta my wife’s tires in the driveway. I got a call shortly afterwards 😂.

That's funny. Just last night I got the idea to use a belt or something as a break.I didn't know there was such a thing as a "band brake." Does turning the whole rear axle cause any problems turning left or right?
Hello Cris, they answered me alone and told me the following,YB-CD-13/17 uses the Solas seal which is contained in the package. #YB-CD-13/17A contains no seal in the box as it can continue uses the OEM seal, which is a better solution for water sealing.
I got footholds in. One and I never use em tbh. Cause I’m more up front when I turn and then on the back with one foot on the rear tray pushing it down
Thanks for the video. It shows just what a pain the install can be! I just installed this tank today (07/04/2024) on my XR650L. I used Sil-Glyde (NAPA), a lubricant, on the factory rubber tank mounts. The tank slides really easy over the mounts this way and no modification to the mount is necessary. That does not mean it is easy to install! I still had to use a ratchet strap on both sides to get the front mounts bolted up. I also ran my fuel line on the right side in back of the carb so I didn't have to deal with the cables. I fit the fuel line on the left side the way you did. Enjoy the ride!

Hello, I wanted to ask you since I have a waveblaster 1 and a friend gave me a water pump complete with driveshaft but it is from a 2018 superjet. My question is if I can install it by removing one and putting in the other or do I have to change something, because I haven't disassembled it yet and I don't know how long the driveshasf or the pitch of the impeller is. Yes the driveshafts are different lengths, you will have to swap the shafts. The impeller should be fine to use unless you are wanting to get more take off or top end. 🤘🏼🔥

When you drill and tap the stator section of the pump, does it matter if the extra hole for dual cooling is in the same section between fins as the existing cooling hole from the factory?
I would say no but you would be making the pump housing weaker in that section. I would suggest removing the pump from the ski and drilling in a different vain gap. 🤘🏼🔥

Yeah it is kind of stupid that it won’t fit perfect. After the install I will say it is very nice not worrying if I run out of gas when I’m on a long trail especially if I’m exploring and don’t know how long it will take to get out of the trail.

Love watching the build process. My stepfather has one kicking around his shop that he doesn't ride, but he lets me borrow it, so I've slowly been replacing parts on it and improving it. After getting burned on a dual sport ride last year (stock fuel tank, ran out at 104 miles on the odo) I'm looking into ways to improve the mileage. Oil cooler & stock carb with Dave's mods, then tuned to run lean, looks like the way to go. For reference my CRF250L gets 70-75mpg on gravel roads and slow back roads.
Yeah the 250L gets great mpg, I would look into installing a bigger gas tank like the 5.3 gallon or the 4 gallon. If you go with the 5.3 then check out my install video. 🤘🏼🔥
Where did you get your new smaller taillight assembly? The only one I have found that is similar is at Rocky Mtn ATV, but the reviews for it aren't very good. I would like to get one for my 2012 XR650L.

Oh man, Pulling the carb that many times... My son's Yz125 always needed tweeking on race day. Temp changes. Luckily it was just changing the clip on the carb needle. Up or down a notch. Luckily the carb was easy to get to and you could just swivel it a bit and pull out the spring . Same with changing the main jet. Never had to remove the entire carb. Your's would drive me MAD! Great video!
The biggest problem I'm having is the rubber mounting pieces on each side it's almost as if I should just cut those off. Only thing is I won't have anything to mount the old tank back on if I ever need to or sell it
Not sure if you watched my whole video but I showed that I cut half of the metal out that the rubber piece is hanging on which made it much easier for me and if you decided to go back with a stock tank it will still work.
