Stadiums, Infrastructure, buildings, and more, welcome to the forgotten places channel. This channel covers a wide variety of topics past and present enjoy!...
The seats that the now-Commanders should've removed first to remove first from Fedex Field were the lower bowl seats underneath the second decks' overhang as well as the first few rows of the lower bowl.
This is the second of forgotten places’ food chain videos that I’ve watched to bring up five guys. I’m not sure why but both the five guys locations in my area closed with then next closest one being an hour away. These restaurants didn’t have any glaring issues and I ate there on a somewhat routine basis to satisfy my burger cravings. I remember them seeming being busy enough to stay open. Anyone else experience this with five guys?
To give a bit of an update - Wide Track (the 4 lane, 1 way road going around the downtown area) will be changed to a 2 way road next year. This road was designed specifically for the truck traffic going to the plants and due to most of them being gone now (the plants) that single-way layout just does not make any sense today. Huron road (I-59 - the road cutting across Wide Track and going through town) will be completely redone next year. Oakland County will be moving 600 workers from the Telegraph building to a building where the Pheonix Center (3:01) currently is which will finally be torn down (again - next year).
The problem with BestBuy is their insane overpricing of products. Look up any computer they sell then look it up at the creators personel online store. Its not even 50$ they slap on there. Its literally several hundred dollars easily ring an 800$ computer up to 1500$. Buying anything from them is just you shooting yourself in the foot.
Dude, the overhang in left field at the Polo Ground extended 21 feet over the field! You ought to do a entire video on the Polo Grounds, so many bizarre features in addition to the overhangs (extreme dimensions short and long, bullpens in the outfield, base of the outfield wall eight feet lower than home plate, insane amount of foul territory).
Fenway and Wrigley are the only real ballparks left. Everything built in the 60s and 70s is just a corporate machine designed to suck the money and joy out of the game.
I lived in LA in the 1980s, when In 'N Out Burger was as great as everyone says. Also they got you "in and out" in 2 minutes, not the 45 minute wait they're "famous" for now; that's just ridiculous. In the past 5 or 10 years they started expanding to other cities and states, and I couldn't wait until they opened near me. When I had my first burger in over 30 years, it was AWFUL. It was NOT the same In "N Out Burger that had been in LA way back then, it was not even a good burger. I'm guessing the burgers must be much better in LA even now, otherwise people there who know how good they're supposed to be wouldn't stand for it. p.s. LA was a much better city itself back then.
No reference to Crosley Field's left field terrace, a 15 foot rise in left resulting from the stadium being built over the superstructure of one of its predecessors.
I have been to Golden Corral 3 times and every time I was legitimately concerned for my health. Nothing was ever clean, nobody seemed concerned about basic hygiene around the buffet tables, warm stuff wasn't very warm and cold stuff wasn't especially cold. It's been a very long time since I've been to one, but the only real memory I have of it is just how disgusting the place felt. I know my experience is probably not like everyone else's but every time I see an ad for them I just marvel at how it's possible they're even still in business in one shop, let alone hundreds
Many of these chains have a time when they are doing well. Then competition kicks in and people find the competition to be better. Other factors are the economy. Some chains weren;t able to keep up with the times. Many chain restaurants have closed up for good. Others are simply fading away.
I miss the dual purpose stadiums where when watching a football game you can see the baseball dirt infield. Great tv. Anaheim Stadium, Candlestick Park, San Diego's Jack Murphy Stadium. Please bring that back!
I rode on one of the wooden bobsled type roller coasters last week at Knobles in central PA last week. Didn't know it was going to go off track so that was a fun surprise!
I bet college parks have even more character. I remember the old UT Austin baseball field. There was a granite outcropping on the outfield "billy goat hill" where the ball could land and the outfieldwr had to scramble up the dirt footpath to get the ball.
Thanks for a fun story ....Memories of the huge wooden roller coaster at New Jersey's Great Adventure A nice place to visit ... before it started to look like a meeting place for every gang member and Hood Rat withing 100 miles.
They want to raise your taxes again, and Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., proposed slashing budgets regarding public safety, such as prisons and law enforcement to help with his busted budget. Maybe it’s finally time you Californians voted republican and see if things finally get better.instead of worse
Many Alaskans say, "Alaska is just a short drive from Anchorage." I love the state of Alaska with its small city vibe in Anchorage to the complete isolation of the interior. I love the 24 hours of daylight in the summer, and the long winters don't bother me. My family and i hunker down in the winter. We wouldn't live anywhere else!
I worked at K-mart from 1977 to 1984. I was an area manager and full time employee. The last few years I was there if any full time employee quit or was fired they were replaced by 2 part time employees so they didn't have to pay medical benefits. Part time people just didn't care about the store and often just didn't show up. The lines at the checkout were long because they didn't want to hire more checkers and they were constantly calling for people from the floor to come help checkout. Bottom line is they got cheap and were anxious to get rid of full time people so they could pay less for 2 part timers. Thank goodness I graduated from college and got a real job. K-mart was a terrible company to work for.
I worked for Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Company and stayed near Rossford for work. It was a cool city at the time in the 90's but you could see how it was getting a bit run down. I later was dating a young lady from Oregon....OR-E-GONE! 😅
Levi Stadium is an absolute car wreck of a stadium. What might have worked at the old Candlestick location absolutely doesn't, where it was eventually built.
