My name is Ray and I'm a full time streamer over at Twitch. You can find my channel at twitch.tv/Ray. My RU-vid channel is where I archive my Twitch streams and where I upload all of my stream highlights. (Every now and then you'll see an original video)
Watching this in 1080/60 feels a bit mean I might put it down to 720 so it looks better. ^_^. About half way in and I feel like ray hates this game and is punish himself to play it. I know it was months ago but thanks Ray for putting yourself through this so we have some content to consume.
As someone who completed the GBA version, premium cards are best used as the first card in a sleight or similar ability. Since you lose the the first card to be stocked anyway, you're not missing out. Also, item cards are pretty worthless. They're just a slightly quicker, budget reload. Not worth the CP.
I guess I am one of the few that actually played the game to the end. But I didn't enjoy it at all. I had trouble with a certain boss fight and almost gave up. The GBA version is way better, even tho seeing the scenes and characters animated like that is a treat. Kingdom Hearts is my favorite series after all. The copyright stuff sucks, but I really hope ray plays it till the end nonetheless. It's fun to watch this.
Id definitely be happy to watch more of this. It is a weird game but it is an interesting change and its a pretty cool story that leads into KH2. While i dont particupalry want another game like it i do look back on it fondly even if it coukd he a little fristerating at the time. So hopefully we can see more come sunday!
Hey Ray, super happy you actually enjoyed MGS1 and even Twin Snakes and it's crazy cutscenes (fun fact, despite Kojima not directing this, he did specifically choose the cutscene director because he liked doing crazy cutscenes). I haven't finished the vod yet, but if you do play more of the MGS games (I know you mentioned putting MGS 2 in the next sub goals), I hope you can immerse yourself more in the games. MGS 2 has a lot of deep dialogue and political messages that can very easily go over your head, and there's nothing wrong with that, but there's also a lot of charm that it's known for. Point is, don't be afraid to mess around. I know "yapping" (aka dialogue for more than 30 seconds) is a common complaint from chat, but there is some super interesting information you can find out just from optional codec calls. And although a lot of the "random explanations" are made up, majority of the stuff in these games is based off of reality. I've learned a lot about war, guns, and heck even social mechanics. Also the absolute bromance between Otacon and Snake is amazing. If you manage to get to the 3rd game, that's probably what you'll clash the most with since it really shines with its stealth mechanics, but I can see you being very impatient with it, despite it easily being one of the best MGSs. And if you somehow manage to make it to MGS 4, that is where your patience (and especially chat's) will be tested the most, as there is almost 8 hours of cutscenes in it, of which 70 minutes of is the final cutscene of the game. (for comparison, the final cutscene of Yakuza 0 is 40 mins long) I know it gets a lot of flak, but it's the best mechanically (other than 5) MGS, and it's an amazing send off to the series and ties up pretty much all the lose ends, brings back characters from 1, and is, chronologically, the final MGS. If you manage to still have interest in the games after that, you could even touch stuff like peace walker and 5. Despite people saying 5 is the best gameplay wise, it's also one of the most confusing and convoluted story wise, not helping that it pretty much takes place smack dab in the middle of the timeline. Also ignore anyone saying 5 is "incomplete". They are saying that solely because of an unfinished scrapped cutscene, of which pretty much every video game has. Kojima has gone on record countless times saying his MGS 5 is complete.
How fitting this coincided with the Steam release announcement for the KH collection, I remember playing the GBA version and it being one of the few games I couldn't beat as a kid because it was too hard for me, Hades being annoying and the latter Final-ish fights. It was my first intro to KH so the plot flew over my head at the time.
Ray thank you for everything I have been with you since 2013 at rooster teeth and all the way here you are an amazing guy and I would love to shake your hand one day ❤️❤️ I dedicated myself to achievement hunting because of you ❤️❤️ THANK YOU RAY❤️❤️
The only good thing about this game is riku's campaign because it gives you a pre set deck capable of winning against anything in that world. Even with that this game still kind of really sucks. I just isn't all that fun compared to KH1 or 2.
I remember when the original Chain of Memories came out and I could not get into it. A few months later, the family went on a road trip and I beat that game in 3 days. Lol 0s and 9s, baby.
