Hi! My name is Becky Truda. I am a working mom who has curated a simpler way of living. You will learn that living with less brings you peace, contentment, and freedom. Your finances will flourish as never before. The fights with your partner over money or time spent on acquiring things will end. You will learn to let go of things you have been holding on to for years, because they do not add value to your life. You will be able to speak kinder words to yourself and love so much more then you thought possible. A minimalist life doesn't mean you have less of anything quite the opposite. You will have so much more of the things that bring you joy without the mindless clutter and distraction. As a reforming collector of everything I invite you to join me on this journey to a better and more meaningful life.
Gosh, that comment that Jordan made to you is the same my husband made to me. He also said jokingly that he should just donate his paycheck to Goodwill. Your videos literally flipped a switch in me and gave me the motivation I need to declutter and not rebuy. I’ve definitely accepted the fact that I was a shop a holic and I’m welcoming the change. I’d say I’m probably in the trial and error stage at the moment while I continue to go back through my things and get rid of more that I initially chose to keep. Thank you❤️❤️❤️
Jordans comment to me really opened my eyes and even though it hurt at first he was so right! So glad if my videos help at all I enjoy sharing and telling people what I’ve learned ❤️❤️
@@minimalease I feel the same about my husband’s comments. I also started to feel bad about how much money I’ve wasted…money that can go towards traveling and our retirement. Honestly, you’re videos are the most helpful and relatable out of all of the channels I’ve watched😊
❤❤❤I’m definitely not a blazer person either. I much prefer a comfy cardigan. I’ve decluttered 8 bags so far thanks to you😊 I still have a ways to go, but I’m really happy with my progress.
♥️❤ I love your closed kitchen! Open floor plans have been all the rage but I think small enclosed rooms are coming back into vogue and for good reason! Paige Wassel talks about why you should keep your enclosed kitchens in one of her videos and she makes a good point!
decluttered spices during Thanks/Xmas hols. Over last few months (since Xmas - cuz ya know , goofy/not useful "gifts" I started a bag and now big box, 1 long garment bag, bags out 2 b p'd up !
I love your channel! Your husband is so talented with the woodworking has he thought about selling plans for piece like the headboard, side tables and sofa table?
I already keep things ultra minimal but now I’m going to get rid of our dresser in our room because I just don’t have many clothes nor does my husband! We can just keep the few we have in little baskets in our closet. So thanks for helping us with decluttering! 😊
Not having a dresser is fantastic. It instantly gives you more space, more freedom from cleaning, and I’ve found that my clothes all fit easier in my closet. My “dresser” clothes I put in small bins and put those in a hanging slotted shoe organizer. So easy! ❤
I love not having a dresser now that I’ve minimized my clothes. It’s helps me not to “forget” about clothes that get hidden in the drawers and to maintain less
Took me around 2-3 years but it took me this long because I didn’t realize it was so much more about having a mind set change than the things. When I changed the way I view my things and had a clear picture about how I wanted to live my life I was able to do the big bulk of the decluttering much faster ❤️❤️
Totally agree to a super simple and calming bedroom. I am super sensitive to any electronics, so I couldn't do alexa even for a relaxing noise....it's still sending off RF"s. A must in my nightstand is sublingual Melatonin. It's my friend.
♥ Another viewer from Ontario (Canada) here! Our bedroom is pretty minimal because we don't have any dressers either. I'd love to switch to floating nightstands to make floor cleaning easier.
Never have had a tv in my bedroom. Once I go to bed, I'm not on my phone or tablet, in fact the tablet stays downstairs. I read once I get into bed. I do have an Alexa which I use as an alarm clock and other things. I have more things on my nightstand than I would like and trying to figure out what I can get rid of.
For my entire marriage my husband “needs” the tv on in our bedroom in order for him to fall asleep. So that really causes issues with my sleeping (I wear ear plugs and a sleeping mask). And guess what? He has a hard time sleeping too. Anyone have a suggestion on how we can limit nights we have the TV on? FYI, one of us basically wakes up to the tv still on in the middle of the night and then fumble around looking for the remote to turn off. This is driving me crazy! I just don’t want to make him upset or think I’m being demanding. Thank you! I love this channel ❤
Some televisions these days apparently have a sleep timer function, or so I’ve heard, where you can program it to turn off after X amount of time. Definitely check if your model has that! We run a fan overnight instead to give some ambient noise, although some people use ambient noise machines - you need to make sure it’s noises you’ll enjoy though. Personally, I’ve been using earbuds while sleeping - probably an awful idea but I’m desperate! - and I play a playlist of unobtrusive YT videos (chatty with minimal music it sounds effects, sometimes lectures on topics I don’t fully understand and am unlikely to truly follow) and let it wash over me. (FWIW I have YT Premium, which means no ads, custom easy playlists during a viewing session, and can play videos with the phone screen turned off - which makes a huge difference. Before that I was paying for a Headspace subscription for their Sleepcasts, which I love but I always wished the chatty part was longer, as I find someone else chattering away seems to turn off my own mental chatter like nothing else has!) Alternately, you guys could try playing a CD or something which will end at a particular point, although I don’t think music is quite what you want… audiobook on CD maybe? So long as it’s not something you’re going to truly “follow” mentally and get woken up to pay attention to. Maybe some kind of benign topic like… I don’t know, gluten free baking or something! 😂 For the earbud thing with YT though, I’ll just add this; I find it’s particularly nice for me using AirPod Pros (although ideally I wouldn’t be using wireless ear buds at all as a preference - c’est la vie - because when I do wake up in the night, sometimes I’ll take the bud out and go back to sleep on my own, or sometimes I’ll wake up and I know I’ll struggle to get back to sleep without *something* to quiet the mental chatter. With these, I can just click the button on the earbud and it’ll start replaying the last video from my playlist in YT that I was listening to. I am a side sleeper, and I toss and turn a lot, so there’s a little dance of switching the headphones around without fully waking up - but I have heard of headphones made for sleeping in; no idea if they’re any good, but I may try them out one day! I hope that might open up some options for you and your husband! Wishing you luck!!
I had the same issue with sleep and husband. Our “compromise” was for him to use earbuds and his iPad instead of the tv, or use earbuds and tv w sleep timer. I found my weighted sleep mask , earplugs, and melatonin sleep aids helped block out the sensory light, noise etc. and helped me sleep better. It’s tough though!
My mom uses her phone or iPad sometimes when she wants to watch tv before bed and then he could wear headphones if he’s willing to try that compromise ❤️❤️ also the tv timer is a cool idea I didn’t know about ❤️❤️ thanks for sharing!
I used to buy pens, not because I needed them but I liked something about them. Now I am stuck with so many pens, I will never use them. I don't want to throw them away. People I have asked don't want them. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get rid of all this pens?
If you know any teachers or school front office staff they always need pens at least I did when I taught hahah if they work you can also bundle them together and donate them I’ve seen them at our goodwill before and I thought that was a nice idea to get a bunch of pens really cheap when you need them
@@minimalease Good Ideas! I don't know any teachers or anyone who work at any schools but I will take them to the office. I'll put them in a big baggy (yes, I have that many) and save them since schools are already out for summer vacation. Thank you!
I know she wants to be helpful, but dang she actually stresses me out By showing me the thousand things I need to do that I was currently happily ignoring 😵💫
👋 I’m also from Sw Ontario! I totally agree with giving the bedroom a make-under. Think spa or hotel. My husband and I never allowed a tv in the room so we could actually spend time together after long work days however those darn phones and tablets are making it more challenging for sure.
Sending ❤ from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 And YES, I totally can relate to this. Now that my bedroom is clutter free, I fall asleep faster and wake up rested. 😊
Hi! I like to listen and watch your videos but it is some background noise (click click) that interrupted so much. If you would check on that I would appreciate 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hi, I love your declutteringadvices. But where and how to declutter without just move the problem to somebody else to solve? You can not just put Everything in the bin ? Or where, not to harm in A New way?
Functional things I donate to my local thrift stores, give away to family or friends, or local shelters. I think apart of decluttering for me was accepting I made mistakes and I needed to change how I was living and buying. Now when I buy things I always think about how I will eventually declutter that thing
