The numerous more obscure Pre-Incan cultures which either were absorbed or not into the Incan Tahuantinsuyu. Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador are the regions that interest me the most. Thanks! Sulpayki!
Earth basically has two completely separate histories that rarely interacted until recently, and the fact that the history of the Americas gets so little love is criminal
Not as much stuff to work with. The only reason we know a lot of this stuff is from Spanish Codexes, not even the Aztec themselves. They wrote on a leaf, not parchment or whatever so what they wrote on degraded and there was no attempt to preserve this because they (Spanish) wanted to impose their culture and religion and erase theirs as much as possible.
I agree...like the opening statement of this video saying the Americas were the LAST to be inhabited...referencing being established when it's proven that we are the most ancient of people and the Anisazi expanded all over the world. Dodge this Hijack here... 😳😑
1 big misconception is that the native americans didn't have the wheel, they in fact did invent the wheel but it was mainly used for toys, the issue was they lacked suitable terrain and large animals that could be domesticated. The exception being the Llama but their society made more use of human labor
In case of the Mayans, they never used the wheel because the circle was believed to be sacred. So, it´s not that they never thought of it, they just didn't want to.
And in case of the Inca, they were inhabiting a landscape with large valleys, deep canyons, high plateaus, coastal valleys, and deserts. All the kind of terrain where the wheel is most useless.
Forget about this channel, you should check out: Somos Nómadas, it has really good research, the videos are in Spanish though. Alternatively, Ancient Americas is another channel detailing cultures from all of the Americas, and it’s in English.

It’s a shame the Old World couldn’t just treat the New World as a country (or countries) worth communicating and trading with. Imagine the rich cultures that could’ve been preserved and explored rather than destroyed and conquered.
@@j_jizzle_69yea exactly it doesn’t just work like that where they decide to coexist. If One side wants shit they’re pretty much gounna get it or get wiped out
It's a utopian idea. They did treat them like another country, one of which they could conquer. The Aztecs were conquers as well. Having a strong military allows one to have these idealistic beliefs. USA people have forgotten that there are people's that would rather see you dead and would conquer if they could. Human nature doesn't change that much just the definitions of other and protecting one's territory.
15:39 - The astrological calendar of the Mayans primary purpose was agricultural. Knowing when the seasons would change was absolutely vital to all of the early civilizations and they put tremendous resources into knowing the seasons accurately. Some used massive rock architecture such as Stone Henge..
I'm from Brazil. People here who doesn't get in touch with our indigenous peoples doesn't know very much and because of our education system. I got in contact with some, but I was young and didn't know about how the Brazilian elite treated the natives even after so many years after the independence.
You missed or didn’t mention a lot of facts about the Aztec. And it seems they had a lot in common with the Inca. The Aztec warriors were also poets. They a beverage of the gods called Pulque. They were the ones that discovered Cocoa, avocados, and they also used bow and arrows not just the spear launcher aka atlatl. Their obsidian weapons were sharper than the steel swords of the Spaniards. They also taught Nahuatl their language to conquered tribes or nations in Mexico. There were also the Purépecha in Mexico whom were another powerful nation or kingdom that rivaled the Aztec empire. The Chichimeca were also another large nomadic group in Mexico that were never conquered by the Aztec nor the Spanish. And you didn’t mention that the Aztec city of Tenochtitlán was the greatest and most impressive city that the Spanish have ever laid eyes on. To the Spanish it was a thing of fantasy or a dream state. That’s how impressed they were with what the Aztec has built.
The socalled Aztecs we're Israelites ie Shemites ie Black people. Please see Anacalypsis by G Higgins and Murals of the Americas. I think that in different parts of the world they started building pyramids and aqueducts at the same time because they relied on astrology. Many countries used it to start a new stage in the life of society or to bring innovation to the country
Based on the land bridge theory, it is puzzling that the peoples of South America and Mesoamerica became more advanced than the Asiatic peoples that settled in what is now known as the United States, Canada, Alaska and Greenland. It is equally puzzling that so many decided to remain in the frigid regions, instead of migrating to warmer, more fertile climes. These are just a couple of reasons why I do not believe the earliest Americans came in a massive migration, or from the same continent. People from Siberia don't just morph into people who prefer hot deserts or tropical rainforests. People who were nomadic hunter gatherers, don't just acquire the knowledge and skill to farm, build pyramids or sail the seas to populate the Caribbean islands. In fact, it is ridiculous to believe that people left Venezuela, to island hop their way through the Lesser and Greater Antilles. For what? There were less resources in the Caribbean than in South America. Sadly, the Spaniards' (i.e. The Roman Church) destruction of artifacts has insured that we will never know anything except what the small community of mostly Anglo scientists want us to know about the true origins of mankind and the peopling of the planet.
Where are all the nonAnglo scientists? What do they say? When humans first came across the land bridge, it took thousands and thousands of years to reach South America. And over thousands of years after, it isn't surprising that some areas saw development of civilizations while other areas didn't.
How doesn’t it make sense that over thousands of years in the Americas we developed into more complex societies??? It makes perfect sense. Also, the Inuits and Peoples from the north came in a later migration than those who traveled all the way south. People evolve.
@@ammebee16, People do evolve. Yet, despite evolving, some people CHOOSE to remain in inhospitable regions, such as the Arctic or the desert Southwest. It's because they are specially adapted to such conditions. The Emperor Penguin has been around for 60 million years, yet it has never left Antarctica. It evolved to survive in Antarctica. You are agreeing with my point. There was no massive, single migration of people to the Americas; and there is no monolithic group of 'Native Americans'.
@@traeucity6087I understand the confusion, but I can explain; There were multiple migratory waves of Paleolithic people who as you pointed out, settled in different regions and developed then on. The further south you go of the hemisphere, the older the genetic population gets. An Amazonian is of older lineage than say a Plains native or Inuit. All modern day natives have common ancestry, it’s just a matter of which wave they descended from. Not accounting for populations that moved from one region to another, ex: Aztec/Mexica, or mixed.
Here, in Pennsylvania, we have "ice caves" still melting, left over from the last Pleistocene freeze. Consider: if one takes an ice cold obsidian or silver mirror from such a cave, it would seem to smoke in the open air until it warmed. Magic! I can well imagine that a priest would hold that smoking mirror close to his ear, nodding sagely, as the gods whisper from their world into ours. Some choice coca plus a psychotropic mushroom ritual meal, pulque, maybe an imported peyote flower . . . and I'd be ready to believe the gods were speaking through it, too.

I love that Americas have a lot of history like Europe and Asia and Africa also there have been ancient ruins discovered in usa that go back 5,000 years
To add to the misconceptions, over hunting as a reason for megafaunal extinction is plane false. Not only was the population too small, we have very little evidence they hunted megafauna. The evidence points to yes taking advantage of megafauna if they could but mainly hunted small game....
I am from a mexican family that used to be priests in the mountains of south America. My great great great grandfather ruled all of peru, mexico and the westen and northern portion of costa rica. Millions of people worshiped him as almost a god. Some people think they should treat me that way.
No, the idea that there may have been African ancestry among the Toltec is in no way a conspiracy theory. Who are people theorizing to be conspiring? It is a theory that is unpopular among the establishment...like continental drift used to be.
This is a bit outdated giant cities have been found with Lidar in the rainforest of Brazil that held population of 30,000 they were complex grid pattern Vass and well organized 😊 Also, the people of Choco Canyon that built The summer solstice sundial complex that also incorporated moon cycles should have been more detailed the Hopie Also the Illinois complex along the Mississippi was a vast nation. Louisiana has several sites linked to them, as well as the Ohio rive earthwork mounds There is evidence they were smelting copper in the Pearl River Louisiana region that came from the Great Lakes region
A as an historian I can assure you that they were built by the same Black people that are responsible for everything else associated with civilization and culture throughout history wherever we find modernity. Shalawam
Peoples living in tents are sometimes the remnants of a more civilized civilization that lived in buildings etc and were destroyed by natural or biological disasters.
Did these Mesoamerican civilisations have any propechies that their civilisations would collapse with the Europeans arriving? (I don't mean Aztecs, but the others) I read the Ancient Egyptians had a prophecy where their Gods would abandon their lands. Do we have something of that kind?
As said in the video, Mayans believed the world has been reused through time, so they did sacrifices to avoid that by pleasing their deities. The mexicas in the other hand, they did have prophecies. I believe there were seven signs that meant the world was gonna end; a big earthquacke was one, an eclipse was another and I don't remember the others but i remember a third one, there is this legend called la llorona in which a woman goes around crying because she drowned her kids, well, the origin of this legend is found in mexica/aztec folklore as one of the signs of their downfall, it was believed that this woman would go around crying and screaming something like "oh, poor kids, the end is near and I can't do anything to save you".
@@razieluitz5077 also a flood, and the most important premonition was a lighting striked down and destroyed the temple of Huitzilopochtli, in fact the priests knew their empire was going to end
Yes, there is a book called Broken Spears which details seven omens that gave insight to the Mexica that their empire was going to cease, also the ancestors went by sun eras and when the Judeo-Christian European invaders arrived was the beginning of the 6th sun, the Inca also were squinted with the 6th sun and knew their downfall was coming as well
"Rarely, though, do schoolchildren learn why Columbus sought to cross the Atlantic. Hoping for an alliance with the Grand Khan of the East, he aimed to retake Jerusalem and destroy Islam; more prosaically, his voyages promised an end run around the trade monopolies of the Ottomans and the Mamluks. And when Columbus arrived in the Americas, fresh from the battle which marked Spain’s final defeat of the Muslim kingdom of Granada, he saw-or, more accurately, imagined-Muslims everywhere. Spanish conquistadors would claim to see mosques in Mexico, American Indians wearing “Moorish” clothing and performing “Moorish” dances, Turks invading New Spain from the Pacific, and West African slaves attempting to convert America’s indigenous peoples to Islam. Filtering their experiences in the Americas through the lens of their wars with Muslims, Europeans in the New World engaged in a new version of their very old Crusades, a new kind of Catholic jihad. Long after the many Matamoros-Moor-slayers-who sailed to the Americas aboard Columbus’s ships were dead themselves, Islam would continue to forge the histories of both Europe and the New World and the relationship between the two." Source: Yale Macmillan Center, 'How the Specter of Islam Fueled European Colonization in the Americas'
What about the Kennewick man of Washington state. There is another group that was believed to have skiped along the edge of a glacier from Europe, following the edge of the glacier and Greenland and Newfoundland, etc. Forgive me I forget the name of this group.
I don’t think these ancient civilizations got the kind of knowledge only in a period of 2 thousand years bc…they had to be way older than they say…my humble opinion

Well I’m black Indian In I just but I look just like a black person but I’m really Inca pre Columbia so I guess most black Americans have indigenous roots cause I do dna 🧬
Oh come on....the Maya also lived in parts of Honduras and El Salvador, and ALL of Belize! It is not just Mexico or Guatemala. Try and get some facts right!
The Aborigines of North America were already here and been here for hundreds of thousands of years, perhaps even millions. Ancient maps show North America as India Superior. Maybe Columbus was looking at an ancient map instead of the current one of his times. That's how he got turned around...ijs 🤔😅😏😎
I’ve been going to these sites for a while now and I’m glad that the ancient peoples here were able to describe themselves with paintings and statues they left behind, thankfully not leaving the white man a reason to depict these people as white like they did to poor Rameses 2nd. The white man depicted him as a white man. Everyone know the Egyptian people are dark people. Jesus was probably the first man depicted as a white man. I’m glad they couldn’t do the same with the Mayan Aztec, Inca , & the Moche people.
Wherever the Spanish came into contact with the people, the natives withered and died. European disease and greed for gold were the ruin of native cultures.
Awesome channel. I love history. I also love how you present the history. I detest how you use the terms "CE" and "BCE" however. It's beyond obnoxious. If you refuse to use BC and AD then just use negative and positive numbers. 1000 BC would be -1000 instead.
First of all We are not Americans. We are Indigenous to the State of Colorado. We Hunted and Gathered Seasonal. We did not ask Our Relative the Horse to help Us until 1680ish. We were and still do follow the Instructions given to Us by The Great Spirit who is the Great creator of All Beings. We are the People of Turtle Island Not America!❤❤❤Do not know about the wheel but We definitely Invented the Latrine!!❤❤
If you are not a Black person you are not indigenous. Indigenous means sprung from the ground ie autochthonous beings ie naturally occurring people. That would not apply to so-called nonblack people ie hybrids who suddenly appeared six to ten thousand years ago and have no known origins or history apart from barbarism. Shalawam
Well classic mayan history is suprisingly in most part recorded, there are even kings names and their exact years of government since 200 CE to 900 CE.

We did not ask Our relative the Horse to help Us until We encountered the French having been enslaved by the Spanish when We escaped and stole all of their Horses because We then had to Become Warriors gaining Our Independence of Mexico from the French. Our Warriors stayed in Europe and Asia eventually becoming Genghis Khan. American Indians are not Mongols but rather Mongols are American Indians. We never used an Ice Bridge. This is a well made video however it’s outdated. Now there’s plenty of evidence the ancients people from South and Central America came fro the Atlantis and the Olmec from Lemuria. This is according to the latest finding of Dr. Ruth Sotomayor The evidences are plenty Emerald underground city under Educador, oldest mummies are found in Chile not Egypt, Yoga came from Peru not India, all races were found in South America in the ancient people Caucasian, Olmec darker skin, etc. They were travelers across the continents, they already had pottery, libraries, metal jewelry and weapons, advanced arquitecture, advanced medicine, surgeries, brain surgeries, pharmaceuticals from nature, healing techniques, flying transportation as seen in archeology, mathematicians, advance astronomy and cosmo knowledge etc…The colonists tried to covered this up and destroyed much evidences. See the Lost City of Z movie for research.

As much as I agree with your sentiment here, the temples in Mesoamerica violate the law of Moses in Exodus 20:25 And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it. 26 Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
