Why don’t you want to sound like a white republican guy? You are white, and you seem to have similar views to those of said white republican guys. Own it
Ford is actually the only one that didn’t get bailed out and it was 2008… so that misinformation sucks in the context of your point as they DID operate competitively WITH integrity and didn’t need a bail out when everyone else did.
My 5 yo nephew recently started playing on a little league baseball team. He loves baseball and was so excited to get his uniform, he wanted to sleep in it. After their first game he asked his mom who won and she said everyone did. He told her that’s not possible because they were playing for runs and 1 team got more than the other or tied. She told him they don’t keep score and everyone is a winner, he told her he wasn’t playing anymore, he quit. I thought it was funny, my sister, not so much because he wasn’t learning how to be a team player.
It’s like kindergarten “graduation.” Or getting a participation trophy. Pretty soon we’ll have “audience participation trophies,” or “insightful thought about participating” awards. C’mon.
There is no such thing as the Free Market John. Look up the terms Oligopoly and Monopoly. That is what we have. Why?-because the Oligarchs unbalanced the system long long ago. Also, the moon landing is fake.
They are not selling the game as much as they were... people are too stupid and can't spell, so they have to dumb down the game to match the intelligence level.
I'm 42. Been playing Scrabble since I was 5. My wife* and I have been playing weekly for 20 years. With each other. Just each other. We have yet to have any family or friends who (a) would ever want to play and (b) even if they did play, couldn't compete with our experience. And it's not like were Pro players. So while this move sounds bad -- not Woke, but Wokeish -- I think it's a great way to introduce people to Scrabble. They'll end up playing the original version in no time. It's not unlike Catan. Most people play Monopoly, Clue, Yahtzee. But Catan has been a gateway for casual gamers to get introduced to a whole other world of heavier gaming. (*When I first met my wife, she wasn't a great speller. But she took to Scrabble fast. And while it did take her practice, she beats me now more than ever.)
Great. Considering Gen Z doesn’t even play board games. Is this version on their smartphone? And does this new version only have three letter words?? “LOL”, “OMG”, “IMO”…..
To be fair, some cooperative games can be absolutely _brutal._ Last time I played one, we came exactly one turn (for one player, not a whole round of the board) from getting out of the dungeon alive...
The hilarious thing is: Gen Z and Y in other countries aren't like that. Here in Europe they're normal. It's just the dumpster fire that is the USA which is doomed.
Frankly disagree with a bit of this. I specifically want to note that you said competition drives progress, then said you were against bailing out failing companies. In capitalism, when a company successfully beats all the competition, it becomes a monopoly. No longer opposed by another company's innovation, their focus shifts from progress to cutting corners and hiking prices. This stalls innovation, but at this point the company is all you know. Why stop shelling out money? Capitalism does thrive on competition, but when one company "wins", the game is over, and progress halts. Love the comedy as always, but I don't think the DOOM of America is an optional mode in Scrabble.
