Hi and welcome to my art channel. I've been a professional soft pastel artist for over 14 years working on portrait commissions of people and pets, and creating my series of wildlife and landscapes for galleries. Now I spend most of my time sharing information with other artists and teaching how to use soft pastel and even tips for becoming a pro artist. If you're interested in learning my pastel techniques check out my free content here on RU-vid. But I also have a Patreon channel for in depth tutorials plus demos and lots more.
Im unable to get unison where iam so have Schmiecke sticks . Ive been unsuccessful as it fills tooth of paper and i cant do detail layers on top. I use pastelmat. Unable to order from UK due to the extremely high shipping being more than my order.
Thanks so much for this video! Do you trace the outline on to the pastelmat? I know you can't really erase so much. I'm reluctant to put a grid on it for proportions, so I'm wondering if tracing the basic outline is acceptable.
I have a question on framing a pastel piece against the glass , which you use on large pieces. Did you spray a protective finish spray on your pieces before framing them? Does this help with preventing shedding? Thanks! Patty
So funny! I grew up using the decimal system now I live in a country that uses the metric system and I find myself thinking in both ways and I drive myself and others crazy because of it.🤣🤣
Wow it's so beautiful, so inspiring cause as soon as I saw this my heart said I want to try this , thankyou so much for sharing this amazing artwork, I love watching ur videos and get to learn so much, God bless ❤️❤❤❤
Wow Emma, we are so spoiled for choice on your Patreon and RU-vid channels. Everything i have been wanting to try seafoam on wet sand and the other recent tutorials, cow in landscape and sparrow in hydrangea all cover things i really want to try and then there are so many breathtaking pieces in your golden oldie section that are on my bucket list. Thank you so much for inspiring and stretching us to paint anything and everything.
Hi, thank you so much for your explanations. I don't undertand why you need to take a new layer in the software each time you pick up a colour... Why is it important? Thank you so much again and big hi from accross Europe!
I am watching this for the first time. I love that you are posting for us to learn. I will join your patron soon. I'm retired so I am planning more time with pastels.
Your work is absolutely breathtaking! Such realism! Thank you for sharing your ideas on how to properly light up a studio and discussing the pro and cons.
What a beautiful pastel painting , that dappled light is everything ❤ New Subscriber here, from Australia 🇦🇺 I love the way you can get such brilliant details with pastel sticks is wonderful 🤩
Thank you! And welcome to the channel. I have a specific video about getting detail with the big sticks at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0Yah9eQ_Aoc.html if you'd like to see more about it.
Thank you so much Emma, I love everything about this painting. The detail, the light and shade, colour, texture the natural realism. You make me want to sit outside and enjoy nature...and get into my studio. This is so beautiful looking forward to painting along.
Thank you! It was quite tricky in places and the pencils are so useful for this. Hopefully I can break it down in the tutorial so that everyone can have a successful go at it!
Thank you! This took between 8 and 9 hours in total. But I was also chatting during the process for the tutorial series so was pausing to talk about colours etc. So that was quite a relaxed painting speed and lots to talk about along the way! :-)
