Oh this is handy...these are one of the tricky areas. This is going to be a big help.

So much of creating art is changing, correcting, adjusting. Once I accepted that, I learned to persist and not expect every line or stroke to go on perfectly the first time.

Great advice! When I first started whether painting or using pastels for the legs like you had mentioned that surrounding color or reflective color is so important because one could think that because a horses legs are white that it would look natural done that way with the sun hitting the green grass and reflecting the colors to the legs. You made very clear your points and well illustrated! Thank you.

Hullo Emma, A fantastic video and explanation of techniques! I learned when drawing animals to use a wire-frame to establish the overall size and placement of limbs in relation to the bodies. I like when you talk about the negative space as I know I am not able to always place elements without considering the negative spaces surrounding the animals in my pictures. Thank you for another wonderful video chock full of skills we all need to work on!
